BC had to forfeit one game to Lumberton. They now have 2 losses. Lumberton has 2. Vidor has 3. LCM has 4. Next week should decide the standings.

We (Vidor) play Lumberton this Friday. We beat them the first time and they met up in the first half of district. Hopefully we beat them again.

To my knowledge, Lumberton is the first one who noticed what had happened on the Friday that they played. I’m sure the other schools will be watching from here on out.

I believe you are correct. I personally noticed 2 that played against us last night with Varsity then went on to play with JV. Now, it’s possible said players didn’t play at all Tuesday but I doubt it.

Not to change the subject but did Vidor really lose to Silsbee? What the heck happened? And yall beat LCM last night.

    Yes and yes... lol

My kid plays on said team, and I honestly do not know what "team" showed up to Silsbee last Friday.  It was awful.

Last night we won 3-2.  When we met LCM a few weeks ago, we went five with them and they ended up beating us 15-13 in the fifth set.  When we played BC that went to five sets also, and we play BC at home again this Friday.  Our Varsity is full of Seniors, we only have two girls that are underclassmen.  Most of our girls are Varsity returners and there is no reason we should be losing close games and/or losing to teams we should not be losing to.

Was it a JV tournament that she played in? Or a District game and She played on JV and Varsity?

I'm not sure of the exact details, but it was a District game, not tournament play. I'm not sure if she played on JV then Varsity the same day, or if she played on JV then Varsity on the same day then played again in the same week.

Ohhhh Vidor almost giving BC their first loss in District play.  They could possibly beat them next time they play.

It was very close to happening.  Overall we killed ourselves on simple mistakes that should not be happening.

I was an official years ago and haven’t called a game in years… but me personally if I’m the official I’m not blowing the whistle unless play of the ball was interfered with . Also kinda one of those things where I’d have to be there in that situation…also possibly could’ve blown the play dead and replayed the point

Honestly, that’s what I would’ve assumed would happen is a replay gets called. One of those situations though it should’ve never even came down to 5 sets nor should it have came down to a position of one call possibly altering the game.

Or just play better and get the win that way? Lol

I agree there..... suppose my point here is it is a penalty/call against you in any other sport.  I would think it would be in volleyball as well.

Oh well though.  Water under the bridge at this point.

Anyone got any video of this play?

If they didn't interfere with the outcome why would Vidor get the point? Although premature it seems like a case of a random ball rolling through the court, some refs call it dead early and some use judgement that it didnt interfere with the play letting it go on.

Yes, and I would go out on a limb and say it will probably go to UIL.  The ball was never dead.  The whistle was never blown.  More than six people were on the court when a player hit the ball that was still in play.  I would think as soon as a player off the bench crosses the line and steps on the court, the play is immediately ruled dead and a replay happens, or the team with more than six on the court loses that point and it goes to the other team.

  9. LCM beat Vidor 3-2.

Anybody know the rule on an entire team storming the court DURING play? During the 5th set, it was Vidor 12 LCM 13.  LCM players assumed the ball was dead but our kids dug it out of the net and hit it back over.  LCM's entire bench stormed the court to celebrate, then realized "oh crap they're still going" and ran off the court.  Refs never called it. Point ended up going to LCM which was a game altering point.

Our coaches never realized this had happened as they were watching the play and the ball coming back over the net.

Football - penalty would be enforced.

Soccer - it constitutes a forfeit.

I would think that point should have went to Vidor which would have made it 13 all.
