    I disagree.

I put United ahead of Atascocita and Cita handled Hightower and Griggs fairly easily.

United wins the region if they play well.

Ok. "Playoff" Bryce Griggs is an entirely different animal than most.  I know you've seen him. Arceneaux and company are very talented, but Griggs is a pro. He will be way too much for anyone in 5A. Hightower has a pretty good supporting cast as well.

I agree but they took Hightower to the wire twice which has Bryce Griggs (the one kid in the region who I put with Arceneaux).  United plays well, they win.  If they don’t, Foster could upset them.  That’s all I’m saying.

Totally agree. Bryce Griggs can beat this United team with just a little help from his teammates.

Nothing cheap at all about it.  The existing system says the Yates players are eligible and OJ was innocent.  I and several others have been on this board discussing the Yates situation for about 8 years now so there is very clearly no relation to the Yate victory over HJ.  Once again, you fully support the system that declares them eligible and   believe nobody should oppose it.  I am more than confident there are plenty of other "systems" which you oppose and frequently make  your opinion known.

Strangely enough I DO NOT support the system as it currently is. It is MY belief that larger city schools should NOT be able to play in 4A or lower classifications due to the talent pool alone.  HOWEVER, do not act as if YOUR beloved school has not benefitted from having kids that resided outside of the boundaries of Sour Lake and/or the close surrounding communities,  Silsbee either.

Whats wrong with the OJ Simpson case being mentioned?  The system found him not guilty.  Do you believe he was not guilty?

That's irrelevant and a cheap way to try to distract from the topic at hand. The UIL says those kids at Yates are eligible just as they said the kids HJ had from Beaumont through the years were.  NOW that HJ has been beaten by 50 in a playoff game is when it becomes such a horrible "injustice". Please sir spare me, and give us all a break! The system no longer works for YOU guys, so NOW its flawed? Not hardly, sir.

with 4 kids who transferred in in the same season?  Yes  They have managed to win it thrice without transfers.   Now that I have answered your question, is Yates in line not only with the rules but the intent of the rules as well?   Is OJ innocent?

Is Harvey Weinstein just partially guilty? That's a ridiculous answer, but expected. HJ won state and had success with BEAUMONT kids. Their hands are NOT CLEAN and neither is Silsbee. That's the problem that I have with all of the groaning and complaining. You conveniently want to slide OJ Simpson into this? Are you kidding me? YOUR HANDS ARE NOT CLEAN IN SOUR LAKE!

Yes it does go way beyond high school sports.  However, this board is strictly about high school sports, hence the discussion.  Rest very assured that most of  those who belittle others regarding their outcry about the injustice taking place in high school basketball  believe very strongly in voicing and expressing their unhappiness with other circumstances  in various facets of life.

Injustice? We all know about the advantages of being in a large metropolitan city and playing in 4A or below in UIL classification. However, according to the rule MAKERS, they say what Yates is doing is considered ok. Would it have been an "injustice" if Hardin Jefferson would have advanced to the state tournament with kids from Beaumont? Just playing devils advocate here for a second.

  7. No secret on the boys hire. It's David Green. From the info that I have gathered, they had to repost the position due to adding "assistant athletic director" to the title, so that they could justify the money. They had to follow protocol on the hire. It takes time. Have some patience, folks! Tammy Walker-Brown is going to be the girls choice, and that was easy to see as well.

TxHoops it has and alleays will be about them as it is with you. I’m salty I let it be known but I’m able to say it with my chest unlike others. When Coach Green is made the new coach I will be there for those kids point blank well unless my alma mater calls lolll...

Cats out of the bag...wonder why are they waiting so long? Is North Shore going to up the ante?

Clearly you didn’t pick up what Mamba was putting down, so I’ll clarify. There aren’t many Coaches in the Country that can do what Coach Thomas did at Ozen this year with all the lineup changes & adjustments. He is exactly what Temple needs to restore their Program. I don’t know if you’re familiar with the area, but Temple isn’t short on Talent. Wouldn’t surprise me a bit if he had them in the playoffs next year. I know for a fact there aren’t many Guys in the business that work harder, study the game, or Love the kids any more than he does. Temple is getting a Gem, Beaumont is losing a top 5 draft pick. SMH, won’t be long before we hear should’ve.

OK I get it now. It takes a special talent to win 3rd place at Ozen after all they did was win in basketball over the last 17-18 years, winning 12-13 district titles outright in a ROW during that span  I get it now. My mistake. I thought that Beaumont was the largest area in SE Texas with the largest pool of kids to pull from and they somehow managed to have a surplus of talent since the school opened up, but suddenly the tank was empty, and he was the only coach that could manage to squeak out a third place finish, because certainly there were no other coaches in the UIL to come in third and beat a second place team in the first round of the playoffs in another district. What was I thinking? 3rd has got to be the new 1st place. PLUS I must have been crazy to think that Temple is not the same because after all, they DID win 8 games last year. My apologies for just not knowing the real deal about this situation.

First you sound ridiculous because obviously you didn’t watch any games this year. Let’s see losing 3 starters & a prominent bench guy and he finshed 3rd played a talented Memorlal & Cneteal team extremely close. Beat a solid Crosby team who was on a 18 games winning streak at one point won 20 out of their last 22 entering the playoffs. SO NO ALOT OF COACHES HAVE NOT DONE THAT ... and if so please name them we wanna know. Secondly  77 other ppl wanted the temple job regardless of who was qualified enough to apply for it. I believe in him and if he had the backing and resources like they were giving this incoming coach he’d be successful as well no doubt. Stop hating Dickie V you sound bitter bro ...

I certainly wasn't trying to make you angry, and I have nothing against Thomas or Dickie V, I was simply asking a question.  The bottom line is 1) Temple IS NOT the job that it once was, and 2) what was done at Ozen WAS very average. It was 3rd place. Ozen at one point won like 10 or 11 district titles in a row. So, yes, there would be no parades for a 3rd place finish, although Coach Thomas may have done a good job getting them there, it was no special feat. Not saying that its not IN him, its just not been shown yet. Its very early in his career and quite honestly he was at the right place at  the right time to get Ozen. I hope he does an outstanding job at Temple, my question was how could you be so sure?  That's no knock against him, its a legit question.  I wish him the best, but I think you're being a bit over zealous.
