i'd have to say west brook. wos has as much talent as anyone who steps on the field with them. in this case, however, i think west brook would just be too much to handle. i will say though, it would be fun to see how christian michael would do against a cornel thompson chain gang defense. 8)

i guess we're not going to re-schedule?

good post skipper, hooks is one of the main reasons for 20 plus years of good memories for mustang fans. it's going to be different not seeing him on the sidelines when he does decide to hang it up.

i find it very amusing that everyone thinks wos is only concerned about athletics and not academics. yes our football team is very successful, but most of our other athletic programs are not exactly what i would call the best in the area hopefully they are turning around. our athletic facilities are the same ones we used when west orange stark did not even exist, they're from the days of the west orange chiefs. the bond issue that recently passed is for new schools and improvements to existing schools first and then if there is any money left over after those projects then athletics will be addressed. as far as the students from wos, every year kids from wos attend major universities and are very successful after high school.

I've got free tickets for the first 4 seasons!
yeah, me too! i wonder how they will do that? will we just show our student id's at the gate? or will we have to physically pick up the tickets a few days before the games?

I remember Lamar football, I went to the games in the 70's and 80's. I remember why it failed.he does have a point UNLV. go grab a hammer and some nails, maybe some paint.. if you you wanna help. instead of complaining. lol
please tell us unlv, why did it fail?

ur posts always make me laugh unlv, how many times do u have to hear it? Lamar does not have the MONEY!!! have u contributed any money to fix the press box?
-
i hope Lumberton has the same kind of year they had last year. even if they dont make the playoffs this year i hope they keep building their program and have a successful season. i also like coach credeur, he seems to be doing a very good job in Lumberton.

personally, i dont care where we get the players as long as we win a lot of games. however, i like the idea of the walk on program. over the years im sure there have been quite a few players from this area that could have played college ball from around here. but never got the chance because they didn't have the money to leave home and the local university had no football program. hopefully this walk on program will give some guys that have the talent the oppurtunity to play D-I college ball close to home.

i have a friend who works in the IT dept. at Lamar. he said that the university contracts the athletic site out to another party. someone sends the info and the other party updates it. they sent the football info weeks ago right after the coach was hired. i think Lamar has done a good job so far promoting their football team, considering the fact we have no team yet.
WOS95 -- just about every school does this nowadays, surprised you thought Lamar did it "in house"...
Lamar uses CSTV (check out their web site address, GameTracker and all that they use, it's clearly out there that they do this). Lots of schools either use CSTV or JumpTV (formerly XOS). The SLC uses JumpTV as does SHSU and some other schools. JumpTV is a head of the game as far as the web-streaming goes and the SLC uses it for SouthlandTV. CSTV has some good features as well, think JumpTV's sales staff moved quicker than tech side of things (see that awful Gamewatcher!)...
i really wasn't surprised Terror. i was just defending Lamar because some posters on here were getting upset with LU for being slow putting the football tab on the athletic website.

Fuel cost I'm sure is killing Tech as well as other nearby FBS schools. Now is the time for the Legendary Tubbs to work his magic
If you look around other forums all over the country you will notice a lot of people think Lamar is eye-ing FBS.
Took them long enough. Besides I won't be happy unless Lamar bowl or semi-bowl the stadium with FBS by 2013.Now they need to add Cardinal Stadium to the Facilities and Directions page.
Once they update them i sure they will.
I bet UNLV is happy.
looks like ur going to be bitter for a while. ;D
I am still feeling some doubt. I believe not bowling/semi-bowling the stadium will be the answer to the FBS/FCS question.
I don't think Lamar knows yet if they are going FBS or not but they are laying the groundwork for such a move. There's still a lot of unknowns between now and 2011 so we'll just have to wait and see. I would find it hard to believe that Lamar would not have plans to expand Cardinal Stadium. I bet they have talked to Leo Daly on what it would take to expand the stadium, but there's a lot of other facility upgrades that must come first.
by creating a regional FBS conference.
Something like;
La Tech
ULL
UNT
Tulane
Tulsa
Rice
SMU
Ark st
USM
Texas st
UTSA
Lamar
Travel cost should be minimum.
i have to admit that would be a great conference to be in. 8)

It wasn't dumb, it should be the goal. I wish they would think as you over at Lamar because playing
SFA will not put people in the stands, even if the game is on Fox.
so let me get this straight UNLV, Lamar getting pounded 70-0 by the Oklahoma Sooners is going to put people in the stands? but perhaps a good competitive game with SFA that could be for a Div I FCS playoff spot will not?

IMO, this is a win-win situation. Abadle turns pro after one season of college ball and Coach Tidwell can now tell recruits "come to Lamar and you can turn pro too". I bet it has been a long time since a women basketball at Lamar player turned pro at any level. I believe the last was the young lady from WO-S, last name Gant who played in the WNBA.
I wish her the best and maybe one day she'll be in the WNBA!
the lady from wos was Travessa Gant. tamara was a very nice person, i had a class with her last semester and she was always very friendly. i wish her all the best.

it's good to see our local teams get some pre-season recognition. 8)

i just saw some pics of the new home side of cardinal stadium and the new athletic complex in the Cardinal Cadence magazine. very impressive! 8)

they haven't even played a game yet. as a matter of fact they don't even have a team yet. :

Lamar will stay FCS. Lamar will stay in the SLC. UTSA is moving up, Texas st moving, SHSU will also move up, maybe SFA and NW st.If its not JV ball, then why seperate the them? do they seperate any other sports?
Lamar was going to start out playing FCS-level football anyways so what's the big deal? If you're still upset because a "big-name" isn't the coach or the stadium is going to be 30K, then go complain to the big donors for not donating more of their money. Go call up R.C. Slocum or Jimmy Johnson and tell them how disappointed you are in them because they didn't want the coach at Lamar. Football's back at Lamar and it's going to succeed, you should be happy.
Everything about Lamars plans, so far, points to FCS. This is 1980's all over again. I was there, I know, were you?
that's ur problem UNLV, ur still stuck in the 1980's.
-
It is still my opinion. Did they not teach you anything in College Station.UNLV, what you have been talking about has nothing to do with opinions. You stating that Lamar football will fail unless they hire a big name coach and build a big time stadium actually could be correct, but we will have to wait and see. Are you suggesting that Lamar not start up football at all because they cannot get a big name coach and a big time stadium? That would be like me giving up a great job because I couldn't afford the Mercedes to get me back and forth to work when the Toyota would have done the job.
Attention UNLV, you buy what you can afford to buy, it's called managing your money wisely. You must be one of those that is neck deep in credit card debt and is expecting someone to pull you out.
I just don't get why you can't understand simple math. Lamar has $5 to spend, not $500. Get it?
BTW, have you made your donation? I have.
My credit rating is 735...
Lamar spend $5, Lamar gets $5 football.
My donation is years of support when my critics have not...
sorry unlv, but that is not going to pay for a new coach and a larger stadium.

i dont know about the BISD bond issue, but in the WOCC-ISD bond issue improvements for the athletic facilities come last. maybe the BISD has to make repairs to the schools first, i don't know. maybe someone knows more about the new BISD stadium?
