NorthoftheBorder got a reaction from Lamar1996 in Port Neches-Groves vs South Oak Cliff - LIVE GAME UPDATES
Congratulations PNG! Great run, nothing to be ashamed of. You made to the Championship game against a team loaded with D1 talent and you came away with respect! I hope Joseph sticks around and you guys start making consistent deep runs and actually win another championship!

NorthoftheBorder got a reaction from setxathlete14 in Lumberton (23) vs Tyler Chapel Hill (35) - FINAL
Obviously the L-Train would have taken a big L against Boerne if they would have played them. But I can't help but be happy that Chappell Hill got B-slapped last night. Sometimes you get to see fan bases get what they deserve. Not always, but last night was one of them.

I looked at the 10 year forecast. With the growth going on in Texas, especially with the numbers pouring through our southern border, this just looks like numbers that would keep pace with the upper limit of 4A D1. Maybe if this turns out to be true, they squeeze into 5A D2 in or around 2030. Maybe! This doesn't show the growth at the exponential rate that say, the Austin area or even Barbers Hill has seen in recent years.

NorthoftheBorder got a reaction from LCMAlumtiger32 in Lumberton vs Tyler Chapel Hill Regional Semi’s
The debate of 2022 vs 2007 is, and will always be, nothing more than speculation and who is better can’t be proved. However, for my money, 2007 is better. They were playing up a classification against better competition, IMHO! If this team brings home a state championship, then that might change my mind.

You know the game is bad when everyone wants to talk about games other than the game thread. This was a real spanking tonight. It will be entertaining to see what excuses CougTalk comes up with.

NorthoftheBorder got a reaction from outanup in DCTF Week 8 State Rankings
Interesting that the old Midland Lee, now Legacy, is the only 6A school in the rankings that is not in the 4 largest greater metro areas of the state. The power in the top classification has long ago shifted to those areas. Gone for the most part are the days of the smaller metros having great teams. Beaumont and Longview did have the 2 teams in the 6A Div II championship a few years ago, but that was an aberration over the last 20 or so years.

NorthoftheBorder got a reaction from BruinGrad87 in West Brook vs Austin Westlake
I know that Katy Legacy is a fantastic stadium, but am I the only one who thinks the seating capacity might be a little small for this game? Pulling for Brook to go all the way!! Would like to see an all East Texas final!!

NorthoftheBorder got a reaction from inetryconydot in Rory McIlroy - Is he the future of golf?
Although it was good to see my favorite player Mickelson in the hunt late on Sunday, and to see Fowler make another serious run at a major this year, we have to look seriously at whether the era of Tiger has passed and and Rory McIlroy is the next big thing in golf. Who has thoughts on who will dominate the Pro Tour for the near future? And besides sometimes you just get weary of doing battle on the politico board and would like a non confrontational discussion!!

NorthoftheBorder got a reaction from jv_coach in Growth Coming to Southeast Texas
To Bigdog's point that is true and I just had that discussion this morning. Let's look at ExxonMobil. They are "expanding" in the Woodlands with a multibillion campus that will bring about 8,000 additional jobs to the Houston area. From what I heard, they could be spending $10 billion on an expansion of the refinery in Beaumont but it will only provide, lets say no more than 100 permenant jobs. Yes the 4 years or so of construction jobs in the area are a really good shot inthe arm and it does create other spinoff permanant jobs. Still very good news! -

Keep us posted on how Bingham does. He is a little bigger than Lamar's freshman running back last year from Kingwood Tx Kade Harrington who ran for right at 900 yds last year. He is 5'9" and 185lbs but has really good quickness, cuts and vision. He was a real surprise last year. Bingham could be a sleeper for you guys!!!
