1.
lc-m played some of you a close game last year and belive me thay are alot better this year so be ready
LCM played us as a real good game. I see them making the playoffs this year.
 2. 1977 State Finals PNG vs. Plano. A couple dropped punts by our coaches son. Part of the game I know, but it could have been different. It was still a good game.
 3. It will be between Central AND PNG, for district then I would pick Nederland and the fourth spot to LCM.
 4. I look for them to contend for a playoff spot. They are going to surprise some people.
 5.
the booster club was discouraged before faircloth got here.i was told in his interview he was asked about having a booster club.his reply was,i dont see how you can be successful without one.people tend to get excited when a new coach spends his spring break repainting the fieldhouse and girls weight room.he has lead by example so the community will do what they can to help.if faircloth leaves then were better off for him coming here and know what to look for in our next coach.
I agree. The program was not in good shape when he was hired and he was chosen from a pretty impressive list of applicants. Whenever he chooses to leave for bigger things I would expect another pretty good list of coaches to apply. Our program is definitely better due to him.
 6.

I just dont understand why all of a sudden when you get a new young hot shot coach in there everybody is jumping on the bandwagon?? The support or spirit was down the last years in the Burnet era who IMO is the face of the PNG Athletic Program.
He got the ball rolling with getting a Booster Club. So there was really no band wagon to jump on before right. I'm not sure how that draws the "Hot Shot" tag. Did someone keep Burnett (sp?) from starting one? I'm sure you know much more about the situation than me. I understand that a lot of folks feel that Coach Burnett was mistreated. But.... has Faircloth actually done anything to contribute to that? Not stirring. I'm honestly asking....
Burnett did not want a booster club. The fans wanted to start one for years.
 7. [Hidden Content] If this is still current, this is where I last heard of him playing. Might check Madisons agenda also.
 8.
So teachers retirement is based on the average of the 3 or 5 highest years. Thanks GCMPats and Knows2much, for the TRS info.
Averaged from the best 3 of the last 5 years.
 9.
Malone took over a PNG team that won 1 game and scored a total of 1 offensive TD in all their district games in 1988 and had them in the state quarterfinals a year later in 1989.  He followed that up with a 2 round playoff run in 1990. He revived a dead program in 1 year and had folks hating PNG at a level that hadnt been seen in years.    If they want a short-tem fix to get back on track Id be calling Nebraska.
I have to agree. For a quick turnaround Malone would be a good one.
 10. it is not good big daddy. sometimes people get caught up in the moment and do something regretful. i saw last year where a local gold team coached by an ex h.s. coach put a team pic on his teams website of the team that had won a big tournament. on there he scratched through players names that had quit his team and made note of it. he obviously realized how wrong he was and removed the notation  but not the scratch thru. i dont  visit here much, i stay over on football side. i just had a friend whose daughter was involved tell me. seemed pretty low.
 11.

BH non district: Santa Fe ; Lumberton; and Nederland.
Wow thats definitely different from the norm at the Hill. Santa Fe generally is not all that strong. Lumberton and Nederland are off and on so it will be interesting to see how good they are when we play them. hmm...
Nederland will be good this upcoming season, should make for a good test.
 12.
Glad I didn't see this earlier...Wouldn't have been able to sleep if I would have known that Kroeker applied from  PN-G. Thank you, Barbers Hill... ;D
I hear ya, but it will happen eventually. Kroeker is a good one and will succeed as a head coach eventually. Until then we will enjoy having him as our defensive coordinator.
 13.
Out of curiosity, of the many calibers available, is any of them really any better than the others at typical whitetail distances? Can a .308, .260, .270, .280, .264, , 25-06, 30-06, 7mm (the several available), 8mm, etc., do a better job than any of the others? I can see maybe a 300 Win Mag being better at extended ranges like maybe 600 yards but even that is debatable. I can understand the fairly light weight rounds like the 22-250, .223 and .204 maybe not having a lot of energy at say 200 yards. I see people make statements like, well if I decided to kill a bull moose in Montana then I wouldn't have to buy a new gun if I had a 300 Win Mag. That may be true but unless that is something on the immediate horizon on someone's agenda, is it simply wishful thinking or an attempt to justify something in someone's mind? I guess I could go buy a Ford 3500 pickup on the assumption that maybe someday I may decide to start my own construction company and may need such a vehicle. I love guns and think if someone wants a gun, who cares why? Buy five of each for all I care. Back to the original question, in the typical deer hunting scenario of usually 100 yards or less but almost certainly not over 200 yards, does it really matter?
I honestly don't think it matters with the calibers you mentioned. I've killed deer with guns from 22-250 up to my 300 mag.
 14. I heard of them doing that on I-10 a few years ago. Sounds like it would be a very a busy night for cops in both locations.
 15.
i love my 25-06 its one of the best guns i have ever had
Thats a good one.
 16. I understand and agree with everything you said. I don't know what the timber companies are doing as of late, but according to the TPWD Biologist on our lease in West Texas there is a lot of ranchers that were looking for hunters this past season. The economy caused a lot of people to drop leases. Hopefully the timber companies will hold steady and avoid the greed or like you said the poaching problem they have now will be nothing like it can get. I don't know what they are getting now but heard a few years ago they were increasing more than usual each year because they thought they could get more in line with the price per acre that the rest of the state is getting.
 17. Believe me I have seen many deer less than 13" spread that was mature in South and West Texas. But, its the best the state can do to protect young bucks, which happens to be why East Texas is so far behind rest of the state. Years and years of killing 2.5 year old bucks. There are much better management plans but it is better than nothing and East Texas should see improvement, if the game Wardens can enforce it effectively. Enforcing any law in east Texas is a challenge. Good luck though, I will continue my 6 hour drive. Pressure is a problem in East Texas also. Too many hunters on most places for acreage. That is why East Texas deer are so fast to go nocturnal. I hunt 5 people on 3000 acres on my South Texas place and 4 on 2000 in West Texas.
 18.
pngfan1, good thing you couldn't advance a fumble back then because Permian recovered one and ran it back for a TD with no time on the clock. in today's game, French would have lost. soulja, I was 32 in '85.
Yes, I do remember that play. We actually had that same French team beat late in the game. They scored and went up 20 -14 with a minute and half left, but we could not score after we got the ball back. We lost seven starters in that game(five for the season). It went on to be a bad year for us from that point on. But French got better every week and peaked at the right time.
 19. I believe most of our district has a good bit returning except Vidor. Should be another interesting year.
 20.
I know a lot, but i was a kid back then.  85?  I was still in elementary.  ;D
Your making me feel old.
 21.

Barbers Hill......
If they were successful (which I think they were), why then are they getting rid of their coach???
I would call them successful also. They were much better than their record. I know its either a "w" or "L" but they were a few points away from having a much better record. Thay lost some tight ones. As far as why they would get rid of their coach, I won't touch. Don't know much about the situation. A lot of folks said because we won district two years ago we had no reason to replace Burnett. Well enough said.
 22. Most exciting was Central. Best showing for the Indians was a very dominant win against a very good Vidor team.
Tie? that sucks. Must have been waaaay back in the day. Before penetrations, first downs, and all the other tie breakers before overtime.
Yep...'71
They still had ties in 1985. Ask Soulja.  ::)
In 1984 (1985 graduating class) French tied Odessa Permian. That was a very good game.
 24. Academics is very importanat to Coach Faircloth. I'm not surprised.
