  1. Dont count it! Nederland may still be around.
  2. Nederland will win 2 games. This will be different. Nederland hasn't played a series since the earlier tournaments. Where we played a team twice, we won the second game if we lost the first one. Our hitting is now improved. Our starting pitcher is improved but the second, third and others starters have had plenty of time to rest and get ready for the coming test. Helmke is a very good pitcher. He can get the job done. Jordan Stanley gave up seven hits to The Woodlands and except for the three to five errors we had, we could have beat them! Smith, one of our better hitters, was held out because he had pitched in an earlier game and he got a hit late in the game. The Woodlands pounded the ball but the defense stopped or caught one ball after another and made the throws. They had 6 fly-outs to OF, and 10 IF putouts. We definitely can beat Montgomery.
  3. Cody Robbins-Nederland-He puts the kids in the game that are about to perform their best at that game. He has done a lot of experimenting since the beginning of the year with a lot of newcomers and although there have been a few mistakes here and there he has come up with winners way more than losers The season continues-which many had thought would not have happened. Only time will tell how good he and his team will be before its over for 2006.
  4. Matison Smith-Sr-Nederland-pitcher-hitter-3B
  5. Matison Smith-Nederland-Gets better each game Angelle Bridge City-Good in every aspect of game Womack-LCM-Getting more and more dominate each time out Ehlert-LCM-Been good all year.
  6. ]How 'bout dem DOGS]!!! To heck with ratings!! Matison gets better each game and does he ever have great nerves and a strong right arm, eyes and bat!! He hit the first homer of the year off the Kilgore pitcher. The TEAM keeps playing as a TEAM. The heros this game were Smith (HR), McFarland (3 for 3), Speed(HR) along with Mosley, McLeod and Dalton. The defense did a great job! The low sun and wind gave us fits early but other than that we played almost perfectly. Kilgore helped with a few errors but that's what can happen in a one game series. They chose their poison!!
  7. Can they beat Brenham? They are in the same Region and would play on May 20 in the Quarterfinals. They are one complete team; they do it all. But the No. 1 team to beat on the way to state is Brenham and of course Nederland will still be there too!
  8. Nederland won but the home plate umpire had way too small or low of a stike zone! Matison had 10 k's but the Daton batters didn't swing at what they considered were balls. For instance Dayton's No. 3 hitter (No. 12-Pickle) was called out three times looking and he struck out 4 times. I'm glad he did, but you'd think he was a better hitter than that. Matison did a good job but not his best but considering the umpire--he did as well as could be expected.
  9. Nederland should win- to heck with rankings; 3-2. The kids keep finding a way. It's a TEAM and everyone of them are important. They are all heroes waiting their turn to shine.
  10. Nederland: (All I can remember-I missed a couple games) M. Smith 1 M. Mosley 2 C. Laird 1 A. McFarland 1 C. Cousins 1 Many more to come in playoffs-I hope.
  11. How would you rate a coach who takes a kid who hits 400+ before district starts then "improves" his swing mechanics and turns him into to .050 hitter? He turns the kids mind onto stuff to think about except hitting the ball!. The kid has no recourse but to try to do things the coaches way or he'll be set down. If he keeps doing things the coaches he can't perform and his poor performance will cause him to be set down!!! Great coach or poor athlete?? Poor coach or good athlete turned into a bad one. This game is very much mental.
  12. Is there supposed to be sound with the video? I have just watched a small segment so far.
  13. Soph Aaron McFarland of Nederland has the best hands and glove in the area but at present his bat is lacking.
  14. Lord, console those involved in this tragedy and never let it happen again anywhere.
  15. Ned pitched 4 pitchers Tues. but all of those should be available for PNG-none of them threw many pitches. I hope Ned wins but you never know, sometimes you get some crazy bounces and bad calls.
  16. Hey, thanks for the info. I believe more umpires need to read the rule book or come to this web site and get educated . I thought my friend was wrong and now I'll email some of this to him. He's not a computer guy so he would never get connected to this site.
  17. What is the official rules of being "hit by a pitch"? Does the batter, in the eyes of the umpire, have to make an attempt to avoid the ball? I was told by a Dad of a high school coach that the batters box belongs to the batter and if the ball hits him then he gets to take first base. I told him he was wrong and the rule always has been that the batter must make an attempt to avoid the ball. I do know that there are way too many guys being hit and taking a free ride w/o moving out the the way. I was wondering if the rule has changed.
  18. Aaron McFarland of Nederland is definitely one of the best Soph's around. He is batting around 300 for the year, is playing 1B full time and has not even been used as a pitcher yet. All of his younger career has been as a pitcher but he's not being used due to the older arms on the team. Another good NHS soph is Ryan Sampere. He's another pitcher whose time has not yet come and he's playing 3B and SS. These two, along with some not yet on the varsity, will make a stir in the waters in a year or two.
  19. I have a nephew who is the quarterback for the Dallas Desperadoes. I watch the games on tv and they are really exciting, much more action than the NFL. Of course it's a different game but some very good football players are in Arena football. Another nephew did play for the Cowboys but last week was released and is now with Detroit; A grandnephew is on the Rams 53 man roster and we hope he makes it to the starting lineup next year. Two grandsons are making their way up the ladder in public school and if they keep their noses clean, maybe they too can play for a living! I sure hope they make it.
