  1. Congratulations to the West Brook players and Coaches.
  2. It seems the board was split and that one of their choices may have a job opening as the AD at their current school, so this may continue with no AD HD Football Coach in place until the other school decides on their position. This can't be a positive for the kids at Liberty. They need someone ASAP to give them the best chance of winning next year. Keep us posted.
  3. Blake Chavis-5 tackles, 2 assists, 1 tackle for loss, 2.5 sacks, and 7 Quarterback presssures; a totally dominant performance.
  4. You recall very incorrectly, the Defensive Coordinator at HJ in 2001 was fighting for his life with cancer and the other defensive coaches including Pat called the defense, mainly Greg Bonvillain. Who, by the way, became the DC under Pat for the rest of the time Pat was there and then one year under Martel. Pat was always willing to look at new things and allow his coordinators to coach and call their own games. He just managed the team and the games. Pat is such a good guy that they didn't replace the coach during the season even though he was physiclly not doing well. Pat just didn't have the heart to hire someone until the next spring after the coach has passed on. As for being a great coach, just check his record and everybody before or since him at Shephed and HJ.
  5. What is this supposed to mean? I am a personal and professional friend of Pat's and I wish you would clarify this statement, please.
  6. I don't know about the number of players they have coming back but they hired a really good coach to lead them. Coach Paul Colton will do an excellent job for them. GOOD LUCK TO COACH COLTON AND THE HIGH ISLAND FOOTBALL TEAM!!! ;D ;D ;D
  7. Paul Colton, the former head coach at Kountze has already accepted the job according to some pretty reliable sources. i hear the job is closed and they are looking to replace all the coaches jobs from the ones that left.
  8. I hear from a pretty good source that the OC at HJ has applied. Anyone else heard this?
  9. We played on the New Caney field last year. It has the nicest baseball playing surface in the area. Barbers Hill's field is pretty good also. Woodville's field is very nice also with sunken dugouts and the way the bleachers are built. It is a great place to watch a ball game. It is a wonderful legacy to Sheriff Gary Hennigan. Everytime I'm there it brings back fond memories.
  10. You guys are doing a great job not only with the Pre-Season Baseball but the whole page has given southeast Texas sports fans a great place to go on the internet. Compiling all of this must have taken a long time. However, I'm a little disappointed that Derrick "Spanky" Ferguson didn't show up on the infield list somewhere. He will be a Senior and the soft spoken, hard working leader of the Hawks this year. His fielding percentages and batting averages over the last two years are worth some recognition. I'm sure he will be on the end of the year list. Good luck to Derrick and all the hawks this year. Again you guys are doing a great job. Keep up the good work.
  11. Michael Hartel-HJ: Michael led the team in tackles at DE & caught 2 TD passes this year as the Wingback. What makes this amazing is that he played the last half of the year with two broken hands. He had a cast on one or both hands at different times of the year. He never missed a start. He is a great kid and a good player. He embodies what the term ironman means: quiet toughness, leadership by actions not words, and play every down without a complaint. He is a true ironman!
  12. Michael Hartel Hardin-Jefferson Senior Defensive End; He had 14 tackles against Hamshire-Fannett leading a strong defensive effort Friday night by the Hawks.
  13. Trey Burrell ran for 203 yds. on 20 carries and 2 TD's in a come from behind but eventual losing effort against East Chambers.
  14. HJ defeated Jasper in 5 games on Saturday morning.
