  1. Not the FCS coaches poll, but the Stats Perform poll (the one posted on the NCAA website) has Lamar receiving 2 points. Not sure if it's 2 votes for 25th or 1 vote for the 24th spot. Not receiving any votes in the FCS coaches poll. Yes, not that meaningful, but still nice to see.
  2. UIW website only had a bio up for the head coach and two others. The head coach was promoted, the other 2 are the special teams coach who served as special teams analyst and the other arrived in January. So, I am assuming it's loaded with new faces. Again, assuming. The FCS level schools are really odd in the disparity in how well some operate websites and socially media and others do not.
  3. Next game will be beyond tough. UiW went deep in the FCS playoffs last year and is highly ranked this year.
  4. Aggiesarewe posted in today's game thread that he read Lamar's present 4 game win streak is the longest since '74. Other notes...Lamar is 3-2 against FCS opponents with the two losses coming against teams ranked in the FCS top 25. Idaho is presently #3 (they play Montana on ESPN 2 at 9:30 FCS fans) and S. Dakota is #17. The other 2 games are a win over an NAIA school that is playing an FCS heavy schedule and a loss against FBS Louisiana Monroe. Not sure if this info means much, but I find it all interesting. Especially when one thinks about a new coach getting a schedule that starts with an FBS opponent and 2 ranked teams that play in 2 of the most respected FCS conferences. That's likely not something anyone would want to have when rebuilding a program.
  5. Lamar hangs on to beat SELA. UiW beats A&M Commerce pulling away late 28-11. If UIW beats McNeese next week, which would be expected, Lamar hosts UIW with both sitting at 3-0 in conference and UIW ranking in the FCS top 10 (6 going in to today's game) on the 28th. HCU up 30-0 on PV in the 4th. The only other undefeated in Nicholls at 2-0. They are at Commerce next week after today's game against Northwestern was canceled.
  6. Are you being facetious? I ask that seriously.
  7. LU holds on. 3 wins with 0 losses in SLC play.
  8. SELA climbing back in the game. Down by 6 with over 9 minutes to play.
  9. 20 pt. halftime lead. Hold on Big Red!
  10. Lamar (3-3 and 2-0) @ SLC preseason favorite SELA (0-6 and 0-2) at 3 PM from Strawberry Stadium in Hammond. A win here and Lamar will be undefeated in conference with a week off before hosting UIW and then A&M Commerce, before traveling to Nicholls, and finishing the regular season at home against McNeese. Pull off a win today and things get interesting for Lamar. Hope the locals take notice if a win today happens.
  11. Lamar @ SELA...Commerce @ The Word. These are the 2 conference matchups today. PV @ HCU is the other game. Sad situation at Northwestern State as one of their players was shot and killed this week. Thus, game @ Nichlls was cancelled. The young man, Ronnie Caldwell, was from Austin and played at Cedar Park before attending Tyler JC.
  12. Glad to see somebody post something on this one. Big game for both squads.
  13. Just pulled the schedules from some of the teams Kelly plays. Second Baptist played in a tournament at o e point where they faced 4 schools at the 6A level all of which made the playoffs. The Kinkaid school plays almost exclusively against 6A and top notch 5A in their non-district play. Does Kelly play a 6A schedule, no. However, unless you were using hyperbole when it comes to baseball, there are seasons where Kelly could be quite competitive in multiple 5A districts. Other sports, well that's a different story. Also, quite a few college baseball teams have former Kelly players. That's not common for most UIL schools below the 5A level.
  14. He spoke about Fauci on Clay and Buck. He wants Fauci punished. Wish others in congress had his zeal.
  15. With Nicholls win over HCU the 4 Louisiana schools in the SLC finally have a win over someone not in the conference from Lousiana. The teams are a combined 2-22 with the other win being again Nicholls with a win over McNesse on 9/30. Tough year so far for our neighbors to the east.
  16. Inability to calculate game clock with play time and play clock is absolutely amazing. In this situation it wasn't even multiple plays. Foolish arrogance or shear stupidity just took place.
  17. McNeese falls big to Commerce 41-10.
  18. Lamar, U of the Incarnate Word, and Nicholls are all winners today. McNeese @ Commerce started at 7. Extremely early in conference play, but Lamar sits at the top with Nicholls at 2-0. UIW is also undefeated having played only 1 conference game. Commerce is playing its first game of conference tonight. The other 4 have at least one loss. Lamar travels to preseason favorite, yet 0-6, Southeastern next week.
  19. Cards up 27-13. Northwestern turn over on downs deep in own territory with just over 2 minutes to play. Birds looking at 2-0 conference record. No silly mistakes!
  20. Cards up 27-13 with a little over 4 minutes to play.
  21. Lamar leads 20-13 early in the 4th.
