if it is Jacks he better not run them or condition them or yell at them because they will tell momma and the school board will want to know why he is being mean to the little darlins

Coach Toot planned to leave after this year when his son graduates. Has nothing to do with yelling or conditioning. He yells when he needs too and emphasizes conditioning like most successful coaches. He took HF to the 4th round of the playoffs a few years ago and they lost to team from Waco that won state easily that year. The new coach will have Hunter, Jefferson, and Cordell returning as guards who can handle the ball and score. Also the team next year will be made up of players who only lost one game between the JV and Freshman teams a year ago.

  2. Coach Toot is also the girls athletic program coordinator at HF. He planned on leaving this year after his son graduated. He already told his basketball team he was leaving. He has a house over 2 hours away and his wife lives there. He lives in an RV park and did not plan on staying here long term. He does have a good program going and the next coach will inherit some good returning starters and JV players who have been successful. 8th also won district this year

From what I hear from some this could of been dale last time applying  & new coach may have asked for more than 2yrs since that was one reason for why some wanted dale. Instead of hating on this coach & athletes ..let them get a yr in before y'all say we will be having this convo again. We have great athletes here & more could be moving in from bigger districts who parents want their kid to get a better education. HF will be a contender in district Wait & See.  Again congrats to Coach J.

Heard he asked for 5 years

Yes, a revolving door at HF

As I have said many times no Program, no tradition, no stability, no leadership,

    Same song and dance

Lets see who all moves to Mid County

Harris was AD for 4 years. Not exactly a revolving door. Price was here for 2 and went to C.E.King. Knew he wouldn't stay long and he didn't care to be here anyway.

You said before that you knew or worked with Coach Tarver. If so then your statement you know he established a program with stability and leadership. Also class and humility.

There were 3 kids who moved to Mid-County 5-6 years ago. 1 to live with his dad and the other two for personal reasons. Maybe didn't want to compete with King. You act like it happens every year.

Go grind your axe somewhere else. HF must have fired you at some point

I hope the guy does well.  But I think this is a no win situation.

We'll be having this conversation again in 2 years.  It'll be some other guy and Lance Dale in the top 2 in 2018.

He will make the playoffs in FB the next two years so if we are having this conversation it is because he moved on to a bigger school and not success on the field. 4 out of 5 teams make the playoffs in this district so it doesn't take much. I don't agree with that system at all but it's what the UIL wants. More games = more money

  6. No one expected it to be a unanimous vote. Probably wouldn't have been for any  candidate. After hearing Coach Jehling interviewed on the news I think we are off to a great start with his enthusiasm, focus and the fact that he will place an emphasis on a summer workout program. His defense looked good last year when I saw Lumberton in a few games and I hope he uses some of their offensive schemes as well. Hopefully he can get his staff filled out quickly with other high caliber coaches so HF is competitive across the board in athletics

Hey at least we got a 2-time Girl State Champion Power Lifter; things are not all that bad :)

HF has been good at most of the girls sports the last 4 years. Soccer in the playoffs 4 straight years. Volleyball and Basketball have both been in the playoffs a few times. Track has won district as well as cross country. Powerlifting has had 3 girls go to state including Callie Saurage a 2 time champion. Also a lot more coaching stability on that side of the athletic program.

  8. I don't think he can resign from his position only based on a coach being offered the job. He would have already needed to resign and then the position would have to be filled by someone appointed or with an election. I could be wrong on that.  Either way that would take weeks to get done and put them almost at the end of the school year. From what I heard there are some good candidates who interviewed last week.

My son said the freshman have continued an off season program with the two coaches available in that period. The ones who are slacking off in the period and not lifting weights will be left behind in the long run. I'm not sure what the other kids in athletics are doing. They have a separate PE class than freshman
