The DE part got me too. He couldnt play corner back so go down there where you can get around a slow fat linemen. In that 50 defense edge

regardless of what people may think KT was an absolute monster for us during the 97 & 98 WOS football seasons. He was the back up QB as well but Cornel used his heart & determination to be a hybrid at the Rover End in the 50 defense (which is basically a defensive back in a nickel package/defense). He was a unanimous AllState selection despite his stature.

I remain quiet on alot that's spoken here because much of what some of you say isn't worth a wet roll of toilet paper. Lol

But I will say this - my main gripe was "be careful what you ask for" when there became an outcry to run CT out of town. Now kids can't even line up properly, at times looking completely lost as if they aren't even coached up in practice. I'm baffled how all of a sudden the WOS defense cant tackle, defend the deep ball, or control the line of scrimmage on either side.

I would like to know what year wo played well in rain.ive been around for at least 35 years of watching them.they dont play well in those conditions.bc even had a chance to beat them last yr. Its simple dry field wo will handle silsbee.wet field silsbee wins. Silsbee beaten w.o 3 times in wet conditions games.l bleed blue. But I dont know if they have learned to win in those conditions.lol and dont forget against silsbee they had 8TO.not the mark of a team that can win in those conditions.

WHAT!? Short sighted & inaccurate - i cant believe you even said this at all let alone publicly. How can you fairly judge a game that was played in a monsoon? If WOS had 8 turnovers then Silsbee had atleast 6. Why is WOS existence being judged only from last years team? (One of the worst in school history IMO). With a winning percentage as high as it is - id say they perform decent in all conditions

After following that 4a district closely for the last 4 years, I see that Jasper and Silsbee has progressively gotten better to where they can, like WO-S compete on a state level.  Evidentally, that Jasper coach gets the best out if his players, but not enough props are given to coach Smith in Silsbee.  This is year 3 for him and he haven't  even had kids for 4 years in his program and has already pushed them to where they've  never been.  I say that to this.  I dont think Silsbee  or Jasper are going anywhere  anytime soon.  It looks like WO-S is the ones that need to catch up.  We'll see how this works out this fall.

This isnt a sprint, its a marathon - & WOS has been to atleast the 4th round of the playoffs for like 8 straight yrs right? So, catch up to whom? Comical

He saw action in a few games there.  His teammates, Jermaine Hope and Jeff Thibodeaux, went to Tulsa.

As well as Michael Ledet went to Tulsa with them, all 3 were from the class of 2001. WOSgrad you just naming people who went to college or were highly recruited?  James Haynes had about 40+ offers from top D1 schools in the nation, i cant recall anyone ever or since getting that many at WOS.

Gayron Allen - started @ Oklahoma, Big12 & National Champion

  5. The QB play has to drastically change from this past year, like the old saying goes  - "if you have 2 QBs (rotating) then you have none" because Inaccuracy and Decision making was far below par from that position, IMO. Defense will only improve as underclassman will reprise there role and weaknesses will become strengths. Good thing is they have two elite/top tier classes coming on deck with the 8th & 9th graders who are very similar to the WOS class of 2017 that was so dominant.

Actually, we were a team full of Sophomores and Juniors.... If we would have beat Waller, we would have played LaMarque the following week. We were seriously overachieving making it that far to be honest.

Nah Kicker we had another game vs Friendswood in the 3rd Rd before LaMarque  our sophomore yr in 96. We overlooked Silsbee our senior year because when we played them earlier in the season & limited them to -17 total yards and one first down. That still has to some kind of record . . .

Most of the ones that want him out are probably the same ones that couldn't hack it. Does anyone remember the 96 season (c/o 1997)? We could've put out lamarq that year if half the team didn't quit

Your wrong - half the team didnt quit, rather it was 8 senior starters were kicked off the team for missing practice/insubordination. And as crazy as it may sound, it actually made us better. At WO-S no one person is bigger then the team . . . held true when i played back in 1996 to 1998 and it will remain a staple as long as Cornel is there. My senior yr in 98' was the time Silsbee beat us in the playoffs, and they should have - because all week we were running plays to get ready for the LaMarque Cougars in the 3rd Round instead of practicing for the Silsbee Tigers that friday in the 1st rd.

No one expected Silsbee nor WOS to be this far after both finishing with matching 6-4 records to end the season but here they are with the stakes being the highest they have ever been in a matchup. Give me WOS everyday of the week and twice on friday night  . . .  24-22
