  1. I would prefer they level Cardinal stadium and do some renovations to the Monatagne. Maybe they could add on to it for a practice facility??? However, if they were to level Cardinal Stadium I would imagine it would cost too much money. Also, I'm not sure where they could build a new stadium. But it would be nice to have that space by the Montagne for extra parking and it would be nice to have a nice, new, up to date football stadium built close by. (Am I totally lost in fantasy land hoping for this???)
  2. Once again...great for Sam but I'm more concerned about LU. We are ranked 283 by Sagarin. Impressive....
  3. Money talks. It will be interesting to see what kind of commitment ($$$$) the school is willing to make WHEN football returns.
  4. I hate to be negative but there is no way in heck we are going to beat BYU. We are supposed to be a D-1 program but the only schools we can beat are NAIA or D-III or whatever La College is. We've got to start beating some teams that actually matter.
  5. Great for them! And WE can beat Louisiana College...whoopity doo!!! (In case you haven't noticed, I have grown tired of our constant losing. It's sickening. We continue to be awful while schools with what I consider to have MUCH lesser programs continue to excel: SHSU, SFA, and NWSU (the past few years). When will we ever get a good coach again????? Will Tubbs please go after the Marlin or Kaspar or McConathy??? Please??????????????????? Ok, ok, I won't throw in the towel just yet on Roc but I'm not impressed thus far.
  6. A win vs St Gregory????? Big whoopity doo!!! An NAIA school....lets not start cutting down the nets just yet: Here's how the 'powerful' St Gregory's has fared thus far: Nov. 5 Missouri State University# Springfield, MO L 92-46 0-0 Nov. 13 Friends University SGU W 72-69 1-0 Nov. 15 Northeastern Oklahoma State Tahlequah, OK W 46-40 2-0 Nov. 17 University of Central Oklahoma SGU L 79-62 2-1 Nov. 20 Sam Houston State# Huntsville, TX L 88-40 2-1 Nov. 24 Drury University Springfield, MO L 80-71 2-2 Nov. 26 University of Central Oklahoma Edmond, OK L 100-90 2-3 Nov. 29 Lubbock Christian University* SGU W 70-57 3-3 (1-0) Dec. 1 Wayland Baptist University* SGU W 79-77 4-3 (2-0)
  7. I'm sick and tired of these so called moral victories: could beat them, in the game, started to come back...blah blah blah. A loss is a loss is a loss. It's ridiculous. I will never be pleased with losing. Where will losing close games get our program? Nowhere. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect our team to beat Wyoming and UNO. And we should blow out a Northern Illinois. But the fact is we are on our way to another season with an RPI around 290....that is disgusting. I'm not saying that we need to can coach Roc. I totally agree that he needs 4 or 5 years to get something going here. However, I do NOT understand why we don't or didn't pursue some of these VERY good coaches at other small schools. It seems like someone would prefer coaching basketball at LU vs a SHSU, NWSU, or SFA (programs that avg, what, about 800-1000 people per game??)
  8. Very discouraging!!! I watched the game when we blew out UNI last year and they were awful. I absolutely CANNOT believe we lost to them. We are obviously playing horrible basketball right now. We could be approaching Tony Branch numbers this year. I thought coach Roc was a good hire but it's looking like another bad move in a long line of bad moves. I honestly don't know why we haven't gone after the SHSU coach, the NWSU coach, or even SFA's coach. Those 3 guys put on a clinic every time we play them from a coaching standpoint. I've finally quit going to the games. I've been a huge fan for 30 years but it's just disgusting to go out there night after night and watch horrible basketball. I thought we were picked #1 in preseason polls? Apparently we have enough talent to win??? I don't know about our talent level this year since I haven't been to any games. We obviously have no inside threat whatsoever. And, if our offensive scheme is the same it has been the past few years (even under Tubbs) it can't be much of anything. I don't think our players even no what a screen or backcut or give and go are.
  9. geez, duh. that was an easy one and I had a brain cramp.
  10. What's the deal with Hall. Are they going to redshirt him or something? Maybe a medical redshirt?
  11. The rebounding one...James Gulley? No...wait, it's the guy from Silsbee. Why is it I can remember the one that transferred to Tennessee but I can't remember the on that stayed and had the better basketball. Was it Julius something?? I can see him...left handed 6'6" and athletic. Wait...I think I got it...Jules Wells???
  12. I believe my bro could use some additional help: kid #1-lamar tech arts grad and one daughter graduated cum laude from LU kid 2-lu kid 3- swtsu..masters from LU (teacher in BISD) kid 4-lu grad (teacher in HJISD & daughter currently attends LU) kid 5-tech arts & LU grad, and his wife graduated from LU - nursing kid 6 -LU grad kid 7-lu grad kid 8-lu grad, cpa and wife graduated from LU - teacher in BISD kid 9- tech arts grad & wife is tech arts? grad
  13. Also good to see a Kelly High alum playing at a big time program. They don't do that all that often.
  14. Keep playing Louis instead of Falgout...keep losing the big games.
  15. The stats that were posted as far as wins and losses date back to when WOS and Nederland were 5A? Damn, you are living in the 80's???!!!! We are talking about 2007 here. Let go of the 1982 5A team. That was another world ago. Hell, that was actually when West Brook would let several white kids play as opposed to now. (I'd like to know where the person that posted the wins and losses got the information and I think it would be interesting to see the years they relate to. Were you the one that posted it. Please post the score and the year of each score and the level at which each school played. Let's compare apples to apples here. As for Central and Ozen...I really could care less about whether they are good or bad in football. It would be nice to see a Beaumont school actually go to state again but it really is not important in the grand scheme of things. I would consider myself more of a West Brook fan than a Central or Ozen fan so I'm not the least bit upset that they aren't going to state every year in football. None of the Beaumont High Schools have been elite in football in a long time. Now, if you want to take it back to the 80's that's another story. The Beaumont schools have had an occasional good year but that's it. When's the last time a Beaumont high school has made it to a state championship game? And Hebert and Ozen faithful say 'we just leave the door open'? They say that because the only ones wanting to go in those doors are neighborhood kids. And, judging by West Brook's enrollment, the Ozen neighborhood kids don't want to go there either. I've always been puzzled why the blacks don't want to go to school with other blacks in their own neighborhood...but I suppose that's a whole different topic. Obviously, you are such a fan (atic) of Beaumont high school football that you can't see reality. The reality is, in the last 15 or so years it has NOT been 'some of the best in the state'. Oh, and I know Smith is a middle school. If I'm not mistaken it's another one of all black schools that the blacks don't want to got to because there are blacks there. And, unfortunately, the zoning is not being corrected with the bond. That's one of the 3 major problems with this bond (the other 2 being not splitting it up into smaller pieces, and including this sports complex. For some reason many people think the kids nowadays need to play in a 40 million dollar stadium while teachers get paid 36,000 per year. No, I'm not a teacher...but judging by your post, we need more good ones in BISD. I assume that's where you went to school or go to school.) So, even if the bond passes, the black 'leaders' will get their wish...which is obviously to run all of the whites out of BISD and, in turn, make Lumberton a 5A school. P.S. You may want to use spell check and grammar check: 'that the feeling I'm getting' should be "that's the feeling I'm getting". Faithful is spelled with one L. "zoning argument don't mean a thing" should be "zoning argument doesn't mean a thing". "Reeping" is spelled 'reaping'. 'Zoneing' does not have an e, it's 'zoning'. "Allways" has one L not 2..it's spelled 'always'. Hopefully, these are all just typo's or you are only in 3rd grade because my 3rd grader knows how to spell all of these words.
  16. I'll have to admit that Central's succes against PNG & Ned Surprises me. Looks like I should have mentioned 3A WOS instead. That basically proves my point. You are not a top 'best in state' 5A or even 4A program if you can't beat 3A schools. Of course, I suppose now we need to get into what level these schools played at when all of these games were played. For WB to be 20-8 vs those smaller schools is not anythign to brag about.
  17. Help me, I'm a little confused. If Nederland and PN-G football are so horrible, then why were they the ones invited to the double header in Reliant Stadium? I suppose it should have been Central and Ozen instead? It's obvious this year that PNG, Central, and probably Ozen are all down. Look schools have up and down years and maybe I shouldn't have used the word horrible. But, I don't see how you can reasonably say we have some of the best football in the state when we really don't have some of the best football in Southeast Texas (I include the Houston area as SE Texas). We are consistenly knocked out of the playoffs after we get out of our little region. There have been a couple of exceptions...but not many. When you think of top programs in the state none of the Beaumont schools come to mind. Who comes to mind: Southlake Carroll, Austin Westlake, Katy, Smithson Valley or Cedar Hill. Second tier 'best in state' would be teams like maybe Euless Trinity, and Lufkin...maybe even Tyler Lee & A&M Cosolidated. Or Cy Fair, and Galena Park North Shore. Then you might get into the West Brooks and Baytown Lees, and Odessa Permian, Longview, etc. West Brook has good football but it's not 'some of the best in the state'. They had a great year last year and are on track to be very good especially since it appears they have some top notch coaches. So, who knows, with Falgout at QB, they may be able to move to the upper echelon. Central and Ozen are on the decline with no end in sight. The problem with Ozen and Central is the school zoning...and it's going to get worse with the bond issue. Fehl & Price are both being zoned to Marshall and then can choose WB or Ozen. Who do you think the football players are going to choose? Then, Guess and Homer are still being zoned to Austin but they will be able to choose between Central and WB...again, who do you think the football players will choose? Caldwood kids can already choose between WB and Ozen. So, more than 1/2 of the elementary schools will have the option of picking WB as their 'zoned' school. Elementary schools zoned to WB (if bond passes): Homer, Guess, Regina, Curtis, Amelia, Dishman, Fehl/Price, Caldwood. Zoned to Central (if bond passes): Homer, Smith, Lucas/Martin, Fletcher, Dunbar/Ogden Zoned to Ozen (if bond passes): Caldwood, Bingman/Blanchette, Pietzsch MacArthur. The odd thing is, I would imagine that if the kids from Fehl/Price would all elect to go to Ozen rather than WB, Ozen would be much better. There are not too many kids actually starting on Marshall's football team (which feeds to WB) that actually went to Curtis or Regina..so they are all either transfers or they are from Fehl.
  18. IMO, he's making a big mistake if he goes with Louis. I think anyone that watches the two play sees who the better leader, athlete, qb, is.
  19. I base it on the fact that Falgout is bigger, faster, tougher, and has a stronger arm. If you haven't noticed, with the type of offense WB runs you better have a QB that can run. I don't understand what you see in Louis? The only passes I saw him complete were a 3 yard screen pass, a 6 yard out, and a poorly thrown 10 yard hook that number 2 turned into a 60 yard touchdown. I did see Louis throw a pass right to Central on our own 10 yard line that Central easily took in for a score. I did see Falgout lead WB to 13 points in the 1st quarter and then get pulled for no reason. I did see Louis make enough bad plays to allow Central to hang around before we just decided to run it down their throats. I did see Louis lock in on one receiver on the few pass attempts he did have. I did see him roll right and throw a ball about 30 yards over the head of the intended receiver. Honestly, I haven't seen either one of them throw the ball enough to make an honest assessment as to who can throw better. But from watching the two play, you can easily tell who the better football player is and you can easily tell who gives WB the best chance to win. I suppose we'll see when WB finally has to play a good team. Who will they go with? Who will be able to make the winning (or losing) plays? My guess is he is playing because he is Louis' son not because he is better than Falgout..and that's a shame.
  20. Are you kidding? Beaumont's high school football is horrible. Sorry, but look at the facts. I'm a Beaumont lifer but our high school football hasn't been worth spit since 1982 (WB) and 80-something with French. The only ones that have made any noise in the playoffs are PN-G and maybe WO-S. Nederland and PN-G are better because of the people that have moved out of Beaumont because of the screwy school zoning/busing. If by we, you are referring to Nederland PN-G and WOS then I guess we have decent HS football. ESPN???...I'm about to fall out of my chair I'm laughing so hard.
  21. Who is Central's coach? It's not the same guy they had last few years? If so, I wouldn't be so quick to run him off. He's done a great job. Each school should have their own football stadium. But I will vote for bond anyway. The schools really need it. (If yall really want this football stadium you seriously need to get out and vote. There are a LOT of people out there they aren't going to vote for the bond just because of this sports complex. Many voters think schools should come first). Falgout s/b starting QB. It's a no brainer. All you have to do is watch the two play. Central has a lot of weaknesses unless WB is just that good. The O-line and defensive line both got whooped last night. I don't think that Nederland coach gets enough credit. They freaking win every year. Then, this year, their stud QB goes down and they put in a sophomore and they apparently don't miss a beat. Unreal.
  22. Where do I start on this one: West Brook's lines dominated on both sides of the ball...that was the main thing. I was very disappointed in Central, I thought they were much better than that. They looked smaller and slower than West Brook. Whether it was coaching or not...well, I guess that has to have something to do with it but it just looked like West Brook was MUCH better than Central. Central really played poorly...they just looked like they were out of it right from the beginning (I guess that happens when the QB goes flying down the field for a 50+ yard touchdown on the 2nd or 3rd play of the game...talk about a heartbreaker!) Central has some speed but their QB can't throw the ball very well at all. If their O'line is not going to run block any better than they did last night they better find a QB that can scramble AND throw the ball. Their QB last night was quick but he has no arm. I think WB did them a HUGE favor by playing Louis most of the game vs Falgout. Falgout looks a LOT better than Louis. Louis may be a little more accurate throwing the ball than Falgout but it was hard to tell as neither one threw the ball very much. The big touchdown pass by Louis was really an average throw on a 10-15 yard hook...that number 2 (WR) was the one that made that play. That kid can fly. But, from what I saw, Falgout looked much faster, stronger, tougher, confindent, and more competetive than Louis. Looks like Falgout will smash you in the mouth when he's running with that ball vs sliding or ducking or running out of bounds. He looks like he has a pretty strong arm but who knows based on last night...only one pass. But, if it's a close game, from what I saw last night I'd much rather have Falgout back there than Louis. But again, the real story last night in my opinion was the line play. WB's offensive line dominated and WB's defensive line dominated. Both teams made way too many mistakes. Lots of penalties and turnovers. I was shocked by the field itself. It looked like it was in GREAT shape.
  23. It was a shame the 12's lost..they were a very talented team. West End's 10's get a shot at revenge tonight. They are playing Tomball's 10's for the Section 2 championship. West End has had to come thru the losers bracket after losing their first game to Tomball 8-7. West End's 10's beat Tomball last night 8-5 to force the championship game. This group of 10's might be the most talented yet...especially pitching-wise. They are very deep at pitcher (and really very solid all the way around). Tomball must be really good to be able to beat them once and score 5 on them the second time around. Let's hope that it won't be a Tomball sweep over West End at Sectionals!!!!!
  24. Correction, the brackets were wrong. Groves did lose their first game. West End's 12's played Pasadena today and 10 run ruled them. West End's 10's played Nederland North in the loser's bracket and West End beat Nederland 12-2. These two groups at West End are VERY talented. I expect the 12's to win this Section 12 tournament Monday night but it will be difficult. I also would not be at all surprised to see the 10's come back and win this tournament either. Their pitching is very deep so they should be able to make it to the championship game. Unfortunately, if they get past Barbers Hill tomorrow, they will have to face Tomball's best pitcher (whoever that is) on Monday.
