  1. OK, I'll call you crazy. For starters, it's an outdoor stadium...why have it right on top of the refinery??? Second, we don't have enough parking over there. If we draw more than 5,000 for basketball you have to start parking across MLK. Third, where is everyone going to park if we actually want to try and draw 10-15,000 for a football game???
  2. I DISAGREE TOTALLY!! THAT IS NOT WHAT MARCH MADNESS IS ABOUT!!! WHAT'S THE REGULAR SEASON FOR??? APPARENTLY NOTHING IN OUR EYES. I THINK IT SHOULD BE REDUCED TO THE TOP 4 REGULAR SEASON TEAMS AND THE TEAM WITH THE BETTER CONFERENCE RECORD GETS THE HOMECOURT GAME. I ALSO THINK THIS BUSINESS OF PLAYING IT IN KATY OR SHREVEPORT OR SOME NEUTRAL SITE IS ABSOLUTELY IGNORANT.
  3. Bulldoze the football stadium and make that parking. Build a brand new nice stadium 'around the corner'. Isn't there land somewhere across the highway from the baseball field??? Then, you have plenty of parking for the Montagne and you get the football stadium a little ways away from the Mobil plant.
  4. Agreed. There were probably 10000 Southern fans there, and 3-4000 Prairie View fans. Many of the Southern fans made a weekend of it. It was very good for the area. Next time, just separate the bands. Yeah, real great for the area. A brawl that made national tv. Lets bring that back every year..NOT!!!!!!!!!
  5. UNLV -- you are a knowledgeable guy. What'd that third ranked national recruiting class of Lamar BKB do during their time in Southeast Texas? Should be noted that this is for this coming recruiting class, can't judge it til next year. SHSU already has plenty of freshmen playing a lot of innings especially on the pitching staff (you may recall the freshmen who led SHSU over Lamar earlier this year). Time will tell if these players blossom...too early to tell. We got some strong older players too (Stein, Verbick, Howard)... Recruiting rankings are garbage anyway... NEWS FLASH: WE DON'T GIVE A CRAP ABOUT SHSU!!!! AS A MATTER OF FACT, WE (OK, I) CAN'T STAND SHSU.
  6. I do not recall a time in the last 10 years where the SWAC was above the SLC in terms of football. Even in McNeese's lean years, they knocked off the "Black College National Champions" (just as mythical as the BCS title) from Southern...Nicholls and SLU even took SWAC squads to task... You must have low expectations of your Lamar FB program... What are you doing on this board? Are you just trying to stir up crap. We all know that, academically speaking, SHSU is a junior college compared to LU. Ditto for athletics with the exception of football. Also, just because you've had a few good years in basketball don't go getting the big head. Talk to me when you've made the sweet 16. And your baseball program can't carry our programs jock. Golf? Third in the NATION!!! Case closed. Go back to your SHSU board or to your fantasy land 'ESPN' (like I believe that line of crap) job. By the way, I can put that I walked on the moon on my resume..doesn't mean it's true.
  7. I agree! I seriously doubt we were recruiting him. Maybe someone went to watch him once.
  8. Very good article...and great to put things into perspective. However, one big thing he mentioned is this group playing as a team and playing hard...is that because of the coaching or is that because of the type of kids on the team. Kids that know how to play basketball, play as a team, and play hard often are better than the so called 'superior athletes' team. Look at Duke this year...what superior 'athletes' do they have on that team??? Anyway, Roc did do a great job turning the season around because I definitely abandoned ship after the start we had..so kudos to him and the kids. As for needing a big man...agreed. Who couldn't use that? The question is will he be able to actually recruit that kind of player?? Tubbs and Foster both could..we'll see if Roc can....I certainly hope he can. But we need 2 or 3 players not just one big man. Correct me if I'm wrong but don't we need a shooting guard??? Don't we need a forward and a power forward??? Seem to me like we need a 2, a 4, and a 5. We have a 1 (Dawkins) and a 3 (Nabors). We have a backup 4 in Brown and a backup 5 in Worrell. But neither one has impressed me to where they should be starter material...maybe they'll show monumental improvement in the off season. I am certainly glad to have Dawkins coming back because, to me, that is by far the most important position in college basketball...a big time point guard and Dawkins is that.
  9. Nice season. I guess I should be pleased overall but this loss is a tough pill to swallow. All we had to do was beat McNeese and we are in the NIT but nope...we lay an egg their. And then we lay an egg in the first round of the tournament. The early season was a big failure...the mid season was absolutely fantastic...and the post season was a HUGE FAILURE. I'm sick....and you look at who we are using and the lack of any decent recruits and I'm even more sick. It's time for Roc to step up and show why he is supposedly such a good recruiter. Lamar Sanders, Hopkins, Currye, and Dawkins were all good recruits. The 3 early signees look like subpar recruits (even for the SLC). LU/Roc/Skelton HAVE A LOT OF WORK TO DO between now and next season. I do think there are some potentially bright spots with Nabors and Worrell and possibly even Brown but Worrell and Brown still have to make a huge improvement next year. I guess I just have too high of expectations. I consider us the North Carolna of the Southland...you know they expect to win the ACC title every year...I expect us to win the SLC title every year. Maybe we are just the Virginia or Florida State of the ACC.
  10. Marlin has won the SLC (regular-season twice, tournament once), so that's not really true. But he won't have to win the conference at Rice to be considered successful. If he can run off three-straight 20-win seasons, he will have done much better than Willis Wilson ever did. Marlin is a decent recruiter and a very good game-planner. I know, I just wanted to make steam come from Terrors ears. Marlin is a fantastic coach. I'd take him or Kaspar in a heartbeat! Marlin would be crazy to go to Rice. He could/should get a much better opportunity than that. I'm shocked that no big program has come after him. Ditto for Kaspar. I sure wish we had one of them here.
  11. Looks like coachacola won this prediction...he said 8200. Wasn't he the same 'idiot' that predicted 19 wins for LU early on. I think I may have implied that he was crazy, on drugs, off his rocker, needed to be institutionalized, etc etc etc.
  12. even if we win out (the regular season) there is no way our rpi will drop below 100. The SLC gets no respect. sfa RPI is 70. Win out, we will. By winning out, are you referring to the conference tournament as well? If so, then I agree we will be below 100. If you just mean the regular season I don't see it happening. However, I've been wrong quite a bit this year so.....
  13. He was one of the most excellent human beings I have ever met. I was a student at the same time he was, and several of the most memorable games I have been to involved him. I know we went to the tourney the year after he was done, but I really wished we could have done it a year earlier so Matt would have had that opportunity. Will you please take that obnoxious TT flag off this site. It is an LU site. What's wrong woth my TT flag - How is it obnoxious. I have Lamar repped on my profile as well. I am a proud graduate of both institutions. There, that LU logo looks much better. (I have 2 nephews and a brother-in-law that all graduated from TT. They are borderline A&M obnoxious.)
  14. (I hope he's only good if he attends LU. ;D)
  15. Damn...I was at those same games!! I remember you (you kinda stood out). I/we (me and some of my fraternity buds) used to camp out to get those good tickets behind the opposing team's bench as well...just so we could give them hell. It was a blast!
  16. I totally agree with you on the season ticket holders as well. I love how 1/2 the parking lot is empty because of the season ticket holders AND their reserved parking NOT showing up to the game. I don't know who decides how much of the parking lot to reserve but it should be about 1/4th of the amount they currently reserve. As far as big name colleges. I GUARANTEE you that Roc would schedule a home and home game any day of the week with Texas or ATM or even Duke or North Carolina. Possibly even a Big East school like Georgetown or Connecticutt but they wouldn't do it. For starters they don't have anything to gain. Secondly, the last Big East team that came here was Villanova the year after they won the national championship. We beat them by around 20 points so those Big East schools are too scared to come here. ATM and Texas have had the nads to come here in the past but they want us to schedule 2 games at their place to one at ours. After the way we've played as of late they probably don't want to come here and play. We would probably have to schedule 3 games at their place to one game at ours. The bottom line is that UT, ATM, Duke, NC, etc are a bunch of prima donna woosies that are too scared to come play here. And I would venture to say that there is NO WAY on earth that a Texas Tech or OU would come here because we could definitely beat them. Man, someone is fired up. Calm down big'en..... I got your 'big'en'

  19. lol...I figured you did. Saturdays game will follow the TSUS approval of football, everyone will be pumped. Homecoming and recruitment day. It'll be the biggest crowd of the season. If the weather is good and after a UCA win, watch out. I didn't realize it is homecoming either. So, it makes me think someone isn't getting the word out. It all depends on how much the local media and businesse are able to hype it. I hope we have 9,000...my guess is 7,000, which is still a great crowd.
  20. That's a shame...he was really starting to play some great basketball and then he gets hurt again. That is just sickening.
  21. That sounds like a GREAT idea. Who says they can't root for LU too? I hope they show up in LU shirts and show those boring college students how to have a little fun at a game.
  22. This is only his first year. I'm SHOCKED we started out as well as we did.
  23. Dawkins is incredible. By far the best point guard we've had in a long long time.
