1. LOL LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL Hey does anyone know if this game is a sellout? Now that's even funnier. A sellout!!!!????? At SFA??? Well if they are playing at a high school gym that holds about 450 people then they MIGHT be able to sell it out.
2.

A win thur would really be good!!
Expecially since the game is on Thursday night!!
Well, what would the predictions be without my pessimistic view.  It's way too hard to win on the road especially against a well coached team like SFA.  If we had a lot more talent than them we could overcome the road deal but I don't see any way that we beat SFA.  Their defense will frustrate our guys and they will win a low scoring game: SFA 59 LU 52
3.
at the point of the game when Lamar was down 14 points in the second half, UV was shooting around 72% for the game. Think about that number................72 freakin %. Frankly LU was lucky not to be down more than that at that point. Once UV cooled off a little the game ended like it should have. UV was a very well coached team that plays an offense that suits their personel, and when they can shoot at that high of a % they'll beat a lot of teams. Bottom line is LU won and they're on the right track.
I agree and I'm thrilled they won.  I also agree that Roc has to still be learning.  And, finally, I agree that 72% is unbelievable.  If they guy was making shots with someone all over him then you just have to take your hat off to him.  However, when a team is shooting that high of a percentage it usually means they are getting a lot of easy looks.  I am pleased with the teams improvement but I still don't think you stay with a defense that is getting burned.  But, I suppose that's why I'm not a coach.  If I were a coach I would have changed my defense to stop Toolson and someone else may have gotten easy looks.  Of course, every 'guru' out there knows what a team is good at and it really tries to stop whatever that is.  For example, in football, if the team has a good running back and no passing game you stack the line and make them pass to beat you.  You don't just say, well our strength is playing a dime defense so that's what we are going to play.
4. DID ANYONE GO TO THE GAME? I'M CURIOUS ABOUT UTAH VALLEY'S TALENT LEVEL VS OURS. I HATE TO KEEP HARPING ON THE COACHING BUT I CAN'T THINK OF ANY OTHER REASON WE WOULD HAVE BEEN DOWN BY 14 POINTS AT HOME TO THIS TEAM? ARE THEY TALENTED??? THEY MUST HAVE MUCH BETTER PLAYERS THAN I ANTICIPATED. FROM LISTENING TO THE RADIO IT SOUNDED LIKE THEY ONLY HAD ONE COULD PLAYER AND THAT THEY WERE GETTING A BUNCH OF EASY SHOTS?? IS THAT NOT THE CASE?? QUESTION: IN THE POST GAME INTERVIEW ROC SAID HE DID NOT MAKE ANY ADJUSTMENTS TO SLOW DOWN TOOLSON?? I ALMOST FELL ON THE FLOOR WHEN I HEARD THAT!!!!! HE SAID THAT PLAYING ZONE OR BOX IN 1 IS NOT "OUR STYLE OF PLAY". HE SAID WE CAME PACK BECAUSE OF THE EFFORT OF THE KIDS AND THEIR DESIRE TO WIN AND NOT BECAUSE OF ANY COACHING ADJUSTMENTS. OK...I HAVE A REAL PROBLEM WITH THAT. ISN'T IT THE KIDS JOB TO PLAY HARD AND EXECUTE WHATEVER IT IS THE COACH WANTS THEM TO DO??? ISN'T IT THE COACHES JOB TO SCOUT THE OPPONENT AND COME UP WITH THE BEST GAME PLAN POSSIBLE TO BEAT THEM? IF YOU HAVE ONE PLAYER AS GOOD/HOT AS THE TOOLSON KID IS/WAS SHOULDN'T THE COACH COME UP WITH SCHEMES TO STOP THE KID. WOULDN'T A GOOD COACH MAKE ADJUSTMENTS TO COUNTER THE OTHER COACH/TEAM. I JUST DON'T GET IT. LOOK AT OUR GAME VS TECH. WE DOMINATED THEM ON THE INSIDE IN THE FIRST HALF. SO WHAT DID KNIGHT DO???? HE DIDN'T SAY "OH WELL, OUR TEAM JUST PLAYS STRAIGHT UP MAN AND WE ARE GOING TO KEEP DOING THAT BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT WE DO." HE SAID "DAMMIT, THEY ARE KILLING US INSIDE..WHAT ADJUSTMENTS DO I NEED TO MAKE AS THE COACH OF THIS TEAM TO GIVE MY KIDS THE BEST CHANCE TO WIN?" "OK, I'LL BUT OUR BETTER DEFENDER IN DURING THE 2ND HALF AND I'LL START DOUBLING DOWN ON THE POST". WHAT HAPPENED?? NWEVO DID NOTHING IN THE 2ND HALF VS TECH. IMO, A COACHES JOB IS TO MAKE ADJUSTMENTS AND ACTUALLY COACH. AM I BEING UNREASONABLE HERE???? AM I BEING TOO CRITICAL??? I MEAN, WE DID WIN BUT SHOULD IT HAVE BEEN THAT HARD FOR US TO BEAT UTAH VALLEY STATE???
5. Man, I agree a lot with what he has to say. This, to me, is another example of the poor hiring decisions we've made at LU. Here's a guy that stepped in for RICK MAJERUS and was named coach of the year and we went with Deane instead??? If this guy could go 22-7 at UVS could you imagine the success he would have had here?? I agree with the coaches that were telling him he was crazy to take the job...how could you possibly think you could make that program into anything special???
6. I WAS NEVER WORRIED.... ;D (I AM PATHETIC. I HAD NO FAITH. I TOTALLY SOLD OUT ON THEM. I DON'T DESERVE TO CALL MYSELF AN LU FAN.)
7. WE ARE ON A 20-4 RUN NOW..UP 66-64. IT SOUNDS LIKE WE'VE ALSO DECIDED THAT IT MAY BE A GOOD IDEA TO COVER SOME KID NAMED RYAN TOOLSON (I JUST LOOKED HIS NAME UP ON THE INTERNET). HE'S BEEN STUCK ON A MERE 29 POINTS FOR A WHILE NOW. HE'S THE KID THAT GOT THEM UP BY 14. I'M JUST AMAZED AT THE DIFFERENCE IN THIS GAME. UVS HAS GONE FROM SCORING AT WILL TO NOT SCORING AT ALL. IT SOUNDED LIKE WE WERE LETTING THEM DO ANYTHING THEY WANTED. I'M ALL OVER THE PLACE HERE...I WAS READY TO TAKE DOWN MY LU DEGREE OFF MY OFFICE WALL. I WAS SELLING EVERYTHING THAT I HAD THAT WAS RED. NOW, IN TRUE LU FASHION, THEY ARE GIVING ME HOPE AGAIN.... WAIT..UH OH...TOOLSON JUST HIT ANOTHER 3..WE ARE ONLY UP 2.
8. SOUNDED LIKE A 10-15 MINUTE (GAME MINUTES) STRETCH OF US PLAYING ABSOLUTELY NO DEFENSE.
9. 64-58...IT SOUNDS LIKE WE'VE FINALLY DECIDED TO PLAY A LITTLE DEFENSE. IS IT TOO LATE????
10. WE ARE GETTING OUTPLAYED BY A 6-10 TEAM AT HOME. THIS AGAIN GOES BACK TO MY PESSIMISM ABOUT OUR TEAM. HOWEVER, I WON'T TOTALLY 'GO OFF' UNTIL THIS GAME IS OVER. HOPEFULLY WE WILL PULL OUR HEADS OUT OF OUR REAR AND COME BACK AND WIN THIS. QUESTION: HOW IN THE WORLD CAN YOU ALLOW ONE PLAYER TO BEAT YOU? HOW IN THE WORLD CAN YOU NOT KNOW TO COVER SOMEONE? I'M LISTENING TO THE GAME AND THIS TEWELSON OR WHATEVER HIS NAME IS IS GOING OFF. I CANNOT IMAGINE ALLOWING ONE PLAYER TO DO THAT TO YOU. WHAT IN THE WORLD IS OUR DEFENSE DOING??? NOTHING??????
11. As I look at the East and West Divisions we are definitely on the easier side. I think we are the 4th or 5th best team in the league right now. However, we should finish first or 2nd in the east.
12. I certainly hope you are right and I am wrong! We'll see how much progress we've made since the beginning of the season tonight.
13. Excellent...I'd love to see the return of football!!! (I'd also love to see them tear down Cardinal stadium and build a nice new stadium somewhere else on campus or close to campus...use the existing stadium site for parking at the montagne and parking for the school.)
14. I'll go with LU 65-60 since we are at home and the Tech game has me a little more optimistic. Also, Dawkins played poorly against Tech and I was still very impressed with him. He looks like he could become a very good player before the year is out...and especially by next year. ABTR - don't hold your breath...I don't expect more than 200 students at the game if history is any indication. Maybe 3,900 total at the game???? Coachacola...man, 19 wins??? I say we end up with 15. Maybe next year we'll have a better start and will hit 19+ wins???
15. UTA MAY be overrated but SFA is not. They have been playing extremely well and have an excellent coach. I think it's SHSU, SFA and then everyone else.
16. Title IX played a large part in the cancelling of football due to the additional costs of the athletes. However, it apparently isn't going away so I'm sure we'll have to have a softball team and the $100/yr of revenue it will generate (I'm sure soccer doesn't generate much more revenue either).
17. Do you have any stats on her? Height, ppg, rpg, apg, etc etc? all district, all-state???? others recruiting her??
18. I watched the whole game. Both teams started out a little sloppy but Lamar was playing VERY tough defense the first 8 minutes or so. After that I did not think that Tech played sloppy at all. They shot the ball extremely well and played pretty solid defense. They had a stretch after they got up by 11 where they didn't play particularly well and let Lamar tie the game up. However, a lot of that had to do with Lamar forcing the action defensively and forcing Tech into turnovers or poor shots. Tech's main weakness was no interior offensive player. Other than that they seemed to have a pretty good team. Zeno is VERY good and that freshman guard is a GREAT shooter. Voskuil is also a very good shooter and in the 2nd half they played some 7 footer a lot more to shut down our interior game. From what I saw, our biggest weakness was poor decisions. McThay took a couple of 28 footers, Sanders took one 3, and Nwevo shot a couple of times from 15'. Also, we made a couple of really dumb passes that were obvious turnovers the very minute they were thrown. On the plus side, it looked like LU was playing very hard most of the game. Also, if our guys will just play to their strengths and know what their weaknesses are that would be a tremendous help. For example, Nwevo can't shoot from 15' so why is he doing that? Ditto for Lamar Sanders shooting 3 pointers. Also, if Barrow gets set before the ball is passed to him the 3 pointer is money. If he moves around or tries to shoot it off the dribble he usually won't make it.
19. I didn't think Tech looked bad at all. I thought they played a very good game. They shot the ball well and played solid defense. Their main weakness is they don't have any interior scoring threat. That freshman, Roberson, was lights out from 3...he could flat out shoot. And the Zeno kid was very difficult to defend..at least for us. He is a slasher, 6' 5", and very quick. The latter part of the first half, their interior defense was poor but I think that was because they were trying to play our post guys straight up man to man. Knight changed that and our interior guys did nothing the second half. (The follow slam by Sanders in the first half was VERY sweet!)
20. We've got good enough athletes to play good defense. I guess it's just hard for those kids to play good defense the whole game.
21. You should have kept watching. The play got much better. However, Lamar's defense wasn't nearly as good in the second half as it was in the first half. Actually, they played great defense for about the first 10 minutes and then played about 5 more minutes of good defense the rest of the game. Dawkins appears to have a great deal of talent and he would probably be our best 'go to' guy with the game on the line. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to get a shot at the end of the game. Tech has some good offensive players in Zeno, Roberson and that white kid..the guard. Their interior defense in the first half was not very good. It looked like they thought they would be able to play our inside guys straight man and that didn't work. They changed in the second half to zone and doubling the post so we had no inside game the second half. From what I saw, Tech is middle of the pack Big XII and LU will finish 3rd-8th in the SLC. LU is still making too many silly mistakes and until we straighten those up we will not win these types of games. I like Dawkin's and McThay's ability to handle the ball and speed things up. However, they need to stop trying to force so many things. If they can just play somewhat under control we may have a chance to finish 2nd or 3rd in conference.
22. We played very well BUT we lose AGAIN!!!! DAMMIT DAMMIT DAMMIT!!!!! We make some great plays and get it tied up..then what do we do???? Bring a double team right to Dawkins trying a dumb pick (and roll???) about 35 feet away from the basket???? What in the world was that???? Then, the last possession??? I have no clue what we were doing....we didn't even try any type of play. They just passed it around the perimeter a couple of times. I don't have a problem shooting a 3 and going for the win on the road but it was obvious that Tech was really concentrating on defending the 3 on that possession. I agree too about the timeout (shouldn not have been called) especially with the 'play' we ran out of the timeout. Apparently he called it to get Todd in the game for the last possession. If I'm not mistaken, I don't think Todd even touched the ball on the possession???
23. Tech comes out playing a zone in the 2nd half??? I thought Knight was man to man only???? I guess times change....
