Navasota and Kennedale my favs in D1. El Campo will give the Rattlers a challenge in the playoffs.
WOS and Sweetwater for D2. La Grange.. Err.. JK Dobbins Leopards might be the only challenge for WOS.
Tatum seems kinda high to me.
Who do you like coming out of of West TX?
Do you have a sleeper pick?
-
Graham is my pick to win it all coming out of D1 Region 1
WO-S to win it all in D2

Congrats to all those young men.

When was he promoted to AD/HF at Perryton? I called and was told that he was never the AD or HF there. Also I have a call into a buddy who lives in Waco that has a friend in the school board in Hillsboro so I will get the details soon on that situation. Thanks Pepper for the info.
My bad, I was told by someone. He was not the AD/HC at Perryton.

From what I have read he was just an asst coach there. I also heard he got in trouble at Hillsboro and Marble Falls where he was asked to leave. Any truth to those things?
He left Hillsboro where he posted a 4-25 record. He resigned to take the DC job at Marble Falls. He did not get into any trouble.
He moved onto Perryton as the AD/HC after that.
Hillsboro is a revolving door for coaches

Watch the pass... that's a good one.
Passing in 7 on 7? That is a novel idea, I hope more teams catch on.

Until Barbay officially resigns he's still HC. He's got until July to do so. Byrd has big shoes to fill. I give him 2 years. The people in Coldspring may not be as generous as me. Good luck to Barbay.
The old coach site is reporting that Byrd is the new HFC as well, but who knows at this point.

was Mark Byrd a assistant coach at Newton about 20 years ago.
Byrd has had coaching stops at Anna, Newton, Pearsall, Winnsboro, Kerens, Ganado and Houston Westside, and will be starting his 23rd season as a Texas high school coach. He has been athletic director and head football coach for the past 11 years of his career, serving at Ganado ISD for two years and Houston Westside for the last nine years.

Besides being wooden bleachers, the best moment I saw is when a receiver flip over the fence behind the end zone. I mean right behind. Do believe he caught the ball and was not injured.
Also the more I read about this story, I do think there is has to be something with the coach naming his son the starting qb and not allowing any sort of competition. This is about 1/4 of the varsity team that basically has said enough is enough and they do want what is best for the town and team by having a competition to see who is best. There is no guarantee the coaches son is automatically better just because he is the coaches son.
I agree

It's been downhill since they replaced their stadium. What a downgrade.
Remember playing them in middle school where they had a RB rush for 300 on us. Aledo went on to win 2 state titles from that class but never heard about the RB since. Like Garrity said there has to be more to this.
Old Miller stadium was great. I remember the big oak tree that the limbs almost extended into the end zone. The visitors side bleachers were so steep, that if you fell somebody might as well call a ambulance, because you were going to the hospital.

Mark Byrd from Houston Westside was named new HC. A complete turnover on the coaching staff.
From my understanding almost or everybody is gone from Barbays's staff.

You can never forget the police that are always sitting there.
Tolar does have the best golf course in Texas that the high school is able to use. Maybe he went there for golf.
Starr Hollow is a great little 9 hole course. I played there a couple of times with a buddy who was a member at the time.

i wonder if Jones is the brother of a previous qb…….
Nope. different Jone's his dad is the assistant AD at Tarleton St.
-
Cant believe anyone would voluntarily move to Tolar.
Thats not a fair statement! They have a big Valero convenience store and their deli food is 5 star.
Thats enough temptation to move to Tolar.
