  1. J opens half with a 62 yd drive. xp good. k 21-14 game not over yet!
  2. In all the games, Jasper offense has shown possibilities, but has failed to get it all together. But with so many youngsters, it could start to jell at any time. bottom line, if J offense could control the ball, the j defense can do its job.
  3. Has Huntington found life? I wish them well. That program has had a big hole to climb out of.
  4. I still wanted to "see" it for myself! The Jasper defense stopped kv several times on 4th down. kv finally started moving the ball near the end of the half. Jasper offense still cannot get it going, except for that one good run. Jasper starting qb is only playing defense because of a bruised shoulder.
  5. QB hazelwood scores for kv, 21-6 kick no good. 18 sec to go in hald.
  6. kv 8-6 Jasper scores on long run. Went for two, bobbled ball, attempt failed. Run by Jeremy Adams, 64 yds kv scored by recovering jasper fumble in end zone. kv has no offensive points.
  7. Speaking of 5a teams, remember when Beaumont alone had a 5a (maybe the old 4a) district all by themselves? And not to mention all the other GT 5a teams. My how times have changed.
  8. Can you lead me through your computations of playoff games please? I agree KV played one more playoff game than Jasper in 05, but Jasper played more in the previous two years. In 04, Jasper went all the way to the state finals, and in 03 Jasper went to the state semi-finals. You are probably right since you made the claim, but I would like to see how your extra game of last year offset two fine Jasper playoff runs. Just curious. In fact, from what I remember in 03, KV was not in the playoffs at all, and only made three rounds deep in 04. From what I see, KV did not play in as many playoff games as Jasper even if you just count the past two years. So again, please explain. Thanks. And good luck to your team tonight. Kickoff is only about and hour and a half away. Then we can see on the field who is best.
  9. Thanks for the alert. The Dogs will be ready. Any other things the Dogs need to watch for? If you tell us enough, the coaches can scrap all their scouting notes.
  10. but what if you hang 50 or so? isn't that harder? :?:
  11. I think maybe the freshman team became the junior varsity? Possibly with some sophmores? Anyway, I thought it was more a question of not fielding a freshman team, not the JV. Anyone know the scoop?
  12. Same here. You were close. Eugene Seale. He is someone who beat all the odds. At 5-9, 210 or so, the old SWC had no use for him. But Lamar did. Then the Houston Oilers did, for FIVE years. Pretty good for someone even the SWC did not recruit. And in the NFL, he was playing at 250. Must have been doing some real hitting to survive five years in the NFL.
  13. Do you have any idea why this is true. Jasper used to have outstanding kickers.
  14. hey i never did understand those numbers! let the experts figure them out. does it say that Jasper has played the 4th toughest schedule in 3a in Texas???? i see that 0-4 Atlanta is no 1 on sos: Rnk Team W L T Rating Power - Offense - Defense ----- Schedule Strength 47 Atlanta 0 4 0 0.949 24.32 ( 34) 32.90 ( 46) 12.84 ( 21) 36.59 ( 1) 3A II-16 guess this stuff don't mean nuthin ole broadcaster!
  15. Massey ratings posted on the Downlow: Rnk Team W L T Rating Power - Offense - Defense ----- Schedule Strength 36 Kirbyville 2 1 0 1.084 23.90 ( 37) 37.62 ( 20) 7.69 ( 74) 16.17 ( 66) 3A III-21 ............ 49 Jasper 0 3 0 0.910 23.28 ( 40) 32.99 ( 44) 11.71 ( 36) 32.54 ( 4) 3A III-21 So there it is. Kirbyville is officially the favorite. There is a world of difference between being rated 36th best in 3a and 49th. Jasper is going to have it's hands full trying to beat Kirbyville in Kirbyville. Good luck to both teams.
  16. You need some of both, but without question, good coaching is essential. Not naming names, but there obviously are schools loaded with raw talent that year after year do poorly. The right coaching could probably turn them into power houses.
