Going back and reading the Newton vs. Silsbee post, it seems that the Silsbee attitude has changed. BNTS---1 - tigers 35 Eagles 29 Talking about Silsbee " I've also seen ---tigers mature right before our eyes and it'll be evident on the defensive side of the ball'' Based on Jasper scrimmage Newton is down from last year, not as good as the previous few years Who That- very crazy, I think a lot of folks will be talking about Silsbee after this game. Who That is right, their is a lot of people talking about Silsbee after that game, but they seem to have gone from a positive attitude about Silsbee to a negative attitude. I WILL REMIND YOU THAT CARTHAGE FINISHED THIRD IN THEIR DISTRICT LAST YEAR BUT WENT ON TO WIN STATE.

A lot of folks are not talking like that, just one person who wanted to still the pot.

The last 7 times Newton played Jasper, Newton won all 7 times. Silsbee is a good strong opponent. This should be a good game.

Earlier Newton had scrimmaged Jasper and if it had been a real game, it would have been a blow out by Newton. Nothing to see here, move on.

Kirbyville is no push over. They have a lot of players back from last year and they are a pretty good football team. We thought we would run all over Arp last year to.

Jasper will destroy LCM. LCM makes to many mistakes. Jasper will run the score up.

Exactly, you play the other kids to get them experience. If the score is run up (and I don't think it will be) it will be with the second and third team kids. Newton carried 45 kids on the varsity last year and they all played.

Don't be to confident. Remember last year. Kirbyville will be a worthy opponent. Newton wins this one but it might not be as easy as everyone thinks. Kirbyville will play Newton very tough.

Newton's enrollment for high school is over 70 students and that's the truth.

Hopefully we don't get that Jerry World attitude but take the games one at a time. Remembering what happen last year. Newton has found a kicker, a 38 yard field goal. Newton was up 40 to 0 and put their second team and a few jv's t the last 8 minutes of the second 12 minute quarter. LCM made numerous turnovers and mistakes that made this scrimmage wop sided. LCM has a QB that can really scoot.

If we could recover some of the money that has been stolen from some school districts and DETCOG we could all have turf.

The old coach must know something that a few of us at Newton already know. Newton new QB is a junior that the coaches have been waiting on since jr. high. This kid is a great athlete. Baring injuries, Newton should be better this year then they were last year.

Newton is no. 3 in 3A-2 ,,The other teams ahead of Newton are 3A-1. Gunter and Lexington are the two teams ranked ahead of Newton in Div.2. Four days until scrimmage. Newton scrimmaging Jasper should be a good match up. Jasper is going to be real good this year.

Bad news here at Newton. The lineman are very small and extremely slow, several weighing under 172 pounds, backs are extremely slow, our fastest back is nick named turtle. We are going to flip a coin to see who plays QB. Anybody playing Newton this year don't need to worry about us. We are just going to have to start over and rebuild from the 7th grade up. Maybe in a few years we can be competitive again. Makes me want to just lay down and cry.

Barlow is up to from 185 to 205 and said he wanted to be around 215 at start of season. He is solid, no fat, he put on all muscle. One of our returning lineman has went from 230 to 260 or 265. Only two weeks before we scrimmage Jasper. Newton will have to make room for some underclassmen coming up, really have some good athletes coming up.
