Newton will reload, could be better next year. If we stay healthy we will make a run at the state title. Injuries hurt us at the end of the year when we were peaking out. Offense should be as good or better and the defense should be a little better also. Had a JV team that was undeafeted and some size coming up with enough skill players coming back from the varsity to make next year a good one.

Newton's QB (Flannigan) had surgery on knee 12-09-08 and now faces 9 months of rehab.

Arp will put up a good game but not enough pass defense to keep up with k-ville. The team to watch in this bracket is Rice Cons. They have a running back that is very outstanding. I think K-ville will take them to but should be a good game. Go Cats, Go Mustangs, Go Eagles.

Don't sell Franklin short. They eliminated traditional playoff team such as Teague and Marlin. They are a running team that can control the clock . I Heard Buna lost several kids to grades and the moral really went downhill, don't know if this is true or not.

I have seen CC play and they are a pretty good football team. They finished second in their district behind New Waverly. New Waverly beat CC 21-14. CC does not have the defense to stay on the field with K-Ville. K-Ville 49- 21 Go Cats------------all the way to state. Wish the game would have been Th. night so I could have went and supported them. Have to be at the Newton game with security. Good luck k-VILLE.

Looks like Kirbyville will play Corrigan Camden in Div. 1. Cor.Cam. will finish second in that district behind New Waverly. Newton will play Buffalo San Augustine will play New Waverly. I think some of the teams are checking out Lufkin Stadium for the location.

I doubt that Carthage knew about the bonfire or location and had any part in burning it (not that they were accured of it), my guess is that Jasper had some kids and they burnt it down just for the meanest of it. I would bet that there will be talk around Jasper school about who did it..
