  1. Orange got beat twice last night and that puts us out. We played pretty good but still not where we were. The compitition here is unbelievable. We lost to a team that wasn't better than us but they were every bit as good as we are. I think it was 11-6 the first game and then 10-9 in the second game. It was 9-9 going into the 6th and we hit a couple of balls right at them and went 3 up and 3 down. Then I think they put a couple of hits together with 2 outs in the 6th to score the winning run. We were very evenly matched and they deserved to move on just as much as we did. I hope they win it all. They were a team that played hard and won and lost with class just as we did. I'm very proud of the boys they have worked hard. It's hard to watch how upset they were when it's all over.

On a happier note we have football practice July 30th so yall watch out the Little Mustangs will be coming for yall. Not to mention we sign up for fall baseball the first part of August.

Thanks to all of the Orange parents and supporters for getting these kids to me every day for the last 7-8 weeks. Also Chad Broussard, Dave Pederson and Kent Miller these guys haven't gotten near enough credit for the job they've done with these kids.

Thanks to everyone for all of the positive comments about the Orange boys, they deserved every one of them and then some. I'll see yall soon on the football field the diamond or the basketball court. You'll know me because I'll be the one teaching the kids the game, teaching them to have fun and teaching them to win.

  2. When I called Scott's phone last night a female told me they lost. It was loud where I was and I couldn't hear very good. I saw the first inning and they were looking good. If they won or lost, getting here was a huge accomplishment. In our coaches meeting the directors were telling us how proud our kids should be just to get this far. They said there are about 600-700 Shetland and the same number of Pinto teams that are eligible to make it here. To be one of the top 16 teams in the state is a great accomplishment. Each kid will have a state medal to remember this experience. If anyone gets a chance to make this trip, I hope you take full advantage of it and get the whole experience. This is a nice facility and the people are truley here for the kids.

  3. Orange didn't play very good last night but like I told the boys. Good teams have to find a way to win when they aren't playing their best. We play a team from Edgewood today at 5. Hopefully we can get things back on track.

Unfortunately Vidor lost last night. They didn't play very good last night either. I think nerves probably got to both of us. At least thats what I hope it was and it should be over now. Hopefully we will both play like we know how to today.

  4. As the coach, I learned of our fan that acted inapropriately. I talked to him and as far as I know that was the end of it. I never heard of any men threatening any women or men for that matter. I know we handled our business on the field and that's what we were there for. The man got a little too excited when he heard we were supposed to play Thursday instead of Friday. I only have second hand knowledge of what was said. Again my main job is to teach the kids. I agree that our fans are my secondary job. However, I can only fix what I know is broken. So for any other teams, when Orange visits your park, and I (Tony Dallas) am the coach, if we have a kid or parent that is acting up please tell me so I can handle the situation.

Thanks again to the ground crew that took such good care of the field.

  5. Thanks to everyone for the positive comments. These kids worked very hard and it paid off. Each and everyone of these kids deserve all of the credit they get. I would also like to thank Dave Pederson, Chad Broussard and Kent Miller. Without these guys we would have never gotten this done. There are countless other dads, moms and grandparents that we had to have to get through our practices. They were long and hard and there were many of them. I'm going to try to refrain from negative comments. However, I want to say this. I'm so proud of the parents and fans from Orange. When we took our loss to Vidor in Shetland, (who was the better team) we stood and cheered and congratulated them until the end. Then our kids went and told them "good luck in the state tournament". What class they showed. Too bad Pinto didn't get the same respect shown to them.

Hopefully the kids will continue playing hard and having fun. Thanks to the grounds crew in Sour Lake. The field was in great condition to play on. Thanks to Bob and George for putting on a great tournament.

PS That water thing really got under my skin.

  6. Great job by all of the kids so far. It's been a long time since Groves hasn't made the finals or won the whole thing. What a great run yall have had. I know that you will be back ready next year. Congratulations to Orange 2 for being the last "2" team standing. Don't let up.

Orange 2 plays TC 1 tonight at 6 and then Orange 1 plays a very tough Vidor 1 at 7:30. Good luck to all.

    Go Orange!

  7. Monday night games,

    Groves 1 beats Vidor 2

    Vidor 1 beats Groves 2

Orange 1 will play Vidor 1 on Wednesday night at 8.

Good luck to all of the teams still playing. I hope everyone plays good but I must say I hope Orange 1 wins over Vidor on Wednesday. Good luck to Orange 2 tonight against Groves 2. Also playing to night Groves 1 and TC 1. These may not be how they are numbered on the bracket but they are the true 1 and 2 teams.

    Run fast and play hard.

  8. It's just the Houston treams complaining. The PONY people have the final say (Sorry Bubba). The way it was before this years was, if you came in second in our tournament then you had to go play in Conroe. That was I believea a6 team tournament with the top 2 teams making it to Irving the next weekend. When we went as Shetland there were rain delays that would have caused us to play until Monday. I decided to just take second place and go home for two days. We still went and we ended up winning a game in Irving. The Houston people just want to send two teams from the Houston area  instead of one. I say if they're good enough they will beat a team from our area and go anyway. If not then let the best team move on.

  9. We did play a good game against a very tough Groves team. I think it was one of the best defensive Pinto games I've ever seen. Inning after inning both teams were making unbelievable plays. It was a sight to see. From double plays to plays at the plate to catches with your back against the wall and jumping in centerfield.

Good luck to all. Let's keep trying to get our spot at the Regional tournament back we deserve it.

  10. I would also like to congratulate Vidor. They are one of the best base running teams I've seen in Shetland. The tournament in Dallas (Irving) is a blast. If you haven't made reservations you better start now. Any team that thinks they have a shot at going better make reservations. They're easy to cancel.

Now what I really want from Orange, Vidor, TC and Port Arthur is to talk to the PONY directors. Everyone of them, every time you see them. We want our Regional back next year. We deserve it. We work hard for it and if we go to Conroe and kick those Houston teams in the mouth and advance to Irving then so be it. I would think that PONY wants the best teams there. Let's not let Houston have their way just because they are bigger. Let the best teams advance. The Regional is only a 6 team tournament. If PONY has to then make it a 7 team tournament.

Again great job to the Vidor boys and the Vidor coaches and fans, You too are a class act and I for one as a parent appreciate the applause you gave our boys. Losing is hard on all of us. I think the kids get over it before the adults do.

    Play hard and have fun.
