Softball IQ

Come on everyone.....its HS Varsity Softball. Let the kids play and the score is going to be what its going to be. I have coached Vs Coach Adkins for many years and taken many beat downs from LCM in HS Softball over the years but can honestly tell you she is the last person on the field wanting to run a score up when she doesn't have too.I have watched her many times try to figure out how to end innings without bringing to much light on the subject of getting out on purpose. Rules are a constant change every year and keeping up with all the rules as a HS coach is your job but almost impossible to know them all. Lets also understand that if an umpire chooses he could also penalize the team trying to end innings early if they choose by calling team out for "making a travesty of the game" that could result in team forfeit so understand its not that easy of a thing to do and not get called out by fans, players, coaches and umps.

This does crack me up!!!
But...I will say that social media can make or brake a player come college recruiting time or even
getting a job after high school.
Parents and Players should watch what they put on social media and the things they do in the
community that could shed a negative light on the player.
Not saying that any of this stuff on this thread is true...just stating facts.

Come on people....let the players and teams finish district without all the bull and start getting prepaired for a tough playoff road to State!!!
Last year both 3A and 4A district champs from Orange County went out in the first round!! 
All the teams had better get ready!!

BC is good...no doubt...and should win the district this year but I can tell you there are a bunch of teams in the other districts chomping at the bit to play the teams in this district. Go check out some of the records of the other 4A districts teams. Some are undefeated in 2 years with state championships recently.
All 4 teams that make the playoffs in this district will have to play out their minds to make deep runs in the playoffs.

It all amounts to this......
If the players are working hard during the off season and all year long on the skills they will need, OF
will be back where they were years ago. In my opinion, Coaching helps but you cant build players in the 
few short months during the HS Season. It is up to the players and parents to get the players in a position
to make a run at State. True talent helps alot and a good coach will attract the talent to get kids to play
and buy into the system but it is all about the off season.....PERIOD.
You could get the best Coach in the world to Coach HS Basketball but if you have no players that have
prepaired themselves for the long road to state, then OF basketball will continue to be what it is.
Nothing against the OF team from this year. It had a bunch of kids with tons of heart and would never
give up but that is only a PART of what  takes to WIN STATE!!
Little Dribblers program and playing in a few off season tournaments help but it takes a HUGE
OFF-SEASON 100% Commitment from the kids!!!

They were both in the big school bracket. Both went undefeated.
The official word is "They were Co-Champions"
Like allways the OF fans would like to say Great job to both teams!!.
Blah...Blah...Blah.....Now for the important stuff.....
None of that realy matters because they play Tuesday for first district game.

BC was in ontrol the entire game
OF cut it to 2 a couple of times but BC would turn the
switch on whenever they needed.
Very physical game as always.
BC's, Bailey (not sure on spelling) can really shoot that 3 ball!!!!!

I was at the game. OF started out very slow and slugish as the score at half time would show.
I think OF was up by 4 or 5 at half but then got it going in the second half and looked alot better.
Give them time and have a little faith madofcs.
I also watched the JV game. Great group of kids on that team also. All of those kids are capable
of playing Varsity this season or in future years but there is not one player on varsity that is
not capable of playing Varsity ball. They just need to play with a lot of heart and up tempo.
Just like past teams have done over the years. The JV and Varsity teams are full of players
that want to win and will give 100% to do so. May not win every game but it wont be for a lack
of effort or Coaching.
Years ago most of the OF Girl players played year round and spent lots of time and effort on and
off the court. This year you might have a few that play year round but don't eat, sleep and live basketball 24/7 and it shows. I assure you they will never quit and will represent OF basketball
well on and off the court and that is very important.
