  1. That was kind of my point. There were many places in the south in the 60s where County Clerks wouldn’t issue marriage licenses to interracial couples. Kinda like in SETX a couple of years ago when County Clerks weren’t willing to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples. We all eventually decided that the interracial thing wasn’t wrong, and I suspect that we’ll get there on gay marriages, too.... that’s when you’ll look foolish for refusing to bake that cake.
  2. Do tell... that’s what we heard. Later on I was told that passage referred to marrying outside of your religious beliefs. I guess it’s open to interpretation. I’m aware of a church in the area that is still homogenous (not that surprising, there are all black churches, too) and I spoke with a church member that told me they still felt that way. She was confident that pastor would probably counsel any interracial or gay couple that visited and wish them the best elsewhere. Same thing for a couple that was unmarried and living together. They old school.
  3. Is it just me, or has Reagan gone somewhat more quiet with this "y'all just wait, Trump has this in the bag" routine?
  4. Not at all.
  5. You're right... it wasn't Trump's people... it was those "busloads of Antifas" that everybody keeps talking about (but nobody bothered to snap a pic). Disregard the fact that every single person that's been identified was a bonafide Trump follower... From the Q Shaman, the guy who sat in Pelosi's chair, the Pat Miletich, the guy who swung down from the gallery into the house chamber, the guy that chased the black capitol policeman up the stairs.... all there for the trump Rally. Heck, I thought that Aaron Mostofsky was married to Pelosi's daughter. I legit read that in a post on fb. The Shaman was literally online saying "no, it was me. I was there. This is my name. I am not Antifa" because so many trump followers were trying to say that he wasn't there, or that he was a leftie. *Also, any information from site called "redstatenation.com" is wild speculation, tall tales, hearsay or absolute lies.
  6. I'm literally one of the most conservative people that there is (both fiscally and socially), yet somehow I'm a communist heathen because I won't pretend like the Holy Trinity is now the Holy Quartet, featuring Donald John Trump. God Himself had to move down a seat.
  7. I'm sorry, I don't remember Bernie saying "you've got to be strong.... you've got to fight. You won't have nation to fight for if you don't fight now. I'm gonna walk with you down to that baseball field. We're gonna make them pay." And even if he did (which he didn't), interrupting a co-ed softball game doesn't even compare to attacking Congress while they are counting votes that would end Trump's presidency. I know that subtlety is lost on most Trump supporters, but it's a very distinct difference.
  8. "and from whom all blessings flow."
  9. And to guarantee that certain groups will continue to vote certain ways....
  10. And that's not even going into the fact that Trump has repeatedly made allegations of a "stolen" election to his loyalists without providing any evidence. Not in court, not in public. Not a bit of EVIDENCE that would in any way prove election fraud. Just allegations, then pointing at the allegations themselves as "proof" that something happened. The only actual interference that we've documented was done over the phone by trump on 1/2/2021 on his call to Georgia.
  11. If you try to convince the Vice President to "throw out" the electoral votes of several states that voted against you, unconstitutionally, then send your goons down to stop the counting and certification of those votes by the VP and our Congress, you are absolutely interfering with the peaceful transfer of power.
  12. I really felt like we'd made a lot of progress, but it seems as if lately it's all gone down the drain.
  13. The peaceful transfer of power is what separates us from other forms of government. And interrupting the peaceful transfer of power is exactly what trump ordered those people to do.
  14. Actually, it's the interpretation of most Americans, up to and including the 222 who voted to impeach the president yesterday. Including 10 Republicans, btw.... brave people who took a stand for what is right in the face of threats from people like you.
  15. "Go down there and stop this" speaking of the counting of the electoral votes? Yes, he did.
  16. When we ALL stop choosing up sides based on skin tone we'll be in a whole lot better place.
  17. One of these days you'll realize that none of the parties are racist or not, they just deal in votes. The Dems were pro-segregation right up until it became unpopular to be that way. They'll be pro "black lives matter" right up until it's no longer expedient to do so. If you ask me, we're in the twelfth hour of that strategy as the blowback from non-racist white people who are actually liberal grows, and as the Hispanics start voting Republican as they did in this last election because, face it, they really aren't too concerned with being in line behind black people. That's why Trump can get out there and say "those voting irregularities were in places like Fulton County, where all of you wouldn't want to live" to his lily-white audience on 1/6/21. He's absolutely appealing to the racists who do actually exist.
  18. Ummm... yeah, it did. My 401k took a beating early on, but in way better shape right now than I was before that drop at the start of the lockdown. Even our poor are doing all right with the very generous unemployment benefits, stimulus checks, and moratorium on evictions. It's hurt restaurants, entertainment venues, and rental property owners, mostly. Everybody else is rolling. I'm personally curious as to what the planned "rental assistance" will look like. It'll be a sad day if those funds are directed to renters who never actually pay their past due rental amounts.
  19. Right.... there's no difference between Maxine Waters telling people to give Trump staffers a hard time and Trump telling his faithful to overthrow our government. None whatsoever. Eyeroll emoji.
  20. I'm afraid all of those old statues will be gone before that.
  21. Once they become protected, yes....
  22. "B-b-b-b-but..... Maxine Waters said....."
  23. They didn’t until conservatives stormed congress.
  24. Not so much under Obama. There was that huge sell-off in ‘09 that was already under way when Obama was sworn in. You can’t blame all of that drop on him as it was already underway, but you have to believe that some of it is attributable to the markets being wary of him. The rebound from that collapse was tepid at best. It took all eight years to slowly crawl back to respectability. Compare that to the market’s performance under Trump... the growth was fantastic, and when the markets were challenged by the pandemic earlier this year, they bounced back within a few months... not years. You have to give Trump’s admin credit for not being anti-business... that’s something the Ds could have picked up on. We’ll just have to see if they push hard for more regulations and higher corporate taxes.... if so, they’ll stall our growth.
