The UIL doesn't determine the district championships in a tie, the district rules committee does. The UIL has no part in the mix. They just set the playoffs.
This is true. Here is what I found. The teams are made up:
I know that usually two teams tied with a district record have the tiebreaker decided by head to head competition (varies per district)
For Example (using :
School...........District...Overall
Podunk............5-2.......7-3
Hicksville.........5-2.......6-4
both are tied in district, but since Podunk beat Hicksville in district, then Podunk would win the tiebreaker.
Things get sticky when there are 3 way ties
For Example:
School............District....Overall
Podunk............6-1........8-2
Hicksville.........6-1........9-1
Genericville.....6-1.........6-4
all three teams are tied with 1-1 against each other and in this instance
a positive point system might be used to break the tie.
Podunk beat Hicksville by 18
Hicksville beat Genericville by 10
Genericville beat Podunk by 3
Genericville would lose out by having the smallest point victory total.
Thats why many schools try to pad their scores in district, for fear of potential ties. However usually positive points max out at 17 or 21 or whatever.
Every district's policies are different; sometimes decided by something so simple as a coin toss....
but ya... just depends on the district.

In a three way tie for first, all three go. UIL does not recognize head-to-head matchups.

lc-m has nothing to play for BUT PRIDE------------------------------------Watch Out. lots of teams are doing it now Bridge City And OF wow lots of points. PS LC-M Is Not Bad Of A Team
I personally take no one lightly. Neumann will concentrate on LCM.

You don't realize that we lost to Dayton last year by 1 point. Last year, we also beat Vidor by 1 score. Remember, last years Jag team was on a different level then this team. You see, my point is, we have the athletes to compete with anyone. Yea, our defense isnt' as good as it was in recent years. Our HC is a defensive minded coach. He will have a game plan to have Dayton making adjustments early. The thing is, it wont be easy, by any means. It's win out time, and we're focused on Dayton. Ask them, they know we have weapons to compete with them.
Bmtsoulja, I have seen what Central can do if they want it bad enough. The second half of our game was totally different than the first. It may have been some letup by our players due to the lopsided score, but I think it was more that Central buckled down and played football. If they want this Dayton game bad enough, it could be close. Play like you did in the first half against us and it will be ugly. Getting a team up for games is on the coaches, but the players also have to have some self-motivation. Good luck.

What quarter was this incident in?
It was in the 3rd quarter. I'm still fuming, more at the celebration than the hit. Maybe malicious was too harsh a word, but it was to the head. Don't know how well the game broadcast will show it. I've said my peace and I'm done with this.

It sure looked like it. The Nederland player took a hard clean hit and tried to stay on his feet. He walked for a couple of yards and then fell. The Ozen players looked back when he fell and two of them did their jumping high five (or was it that jumping chest bump). The refs saw it and went over to the Ozen players, I guess to warn them. I didn't know that Unsportsmanlike Conduct draws a warning but I guess it did in that case or maybe celebrating another player's injury is not unsportsmanlike by the rules. A PN-G player got flagged last week for doing way less than that.
Sorry TVC, I was right there and Brady took a forearm to the head. Nothing clean about the hit. It was malicious. Like you said, when he collapsed to the ground, two Ozen players did the high chest bump thingy-do-wop and the Ozen fans were even cheering. It made me want to puke. There is absolutely no place for violent attacks like that in football. He could have hit him clean and decked him. It's one of those plays where the receiver goes up and when he comes down, the safety is waiting for him...a la Ronnie Lott, but when you go to the head with your forearm, your intent is ot take someone out permanently by injury, not just making the play.

What a great win for the Dogs. On the road and down 14-3, never giving up and coming back to score 28 unanswered points is truly amazing. Our defense played excellent in the second half. I agree with admin, Grogan was player of the game for Ned. Ozen's player of the game, their RB #28.
I think Ozen needs to regroup and start playing football instead of sitting back and waiting to take a cheap shot at the opposing team. #5 should have been ejected for a forearm to the head which knocked our WR Brady to his knees. This wasn't even flagged. He could have made a clean hit and you wouldn't hear a thing from me. #26 got ejected for the same type shot. This ain't football people. It's called headhunting.

17:00 into the video they talk about Micah. His nickname is "White Lightning". Dodge calls him "Boudain". Way to go Micah!
-
You may be the only NED. fan wanting that or understanding that that would help yall! Most seem to want a png win that is just un Bulldog like!
Gotta keep my Dogs in the hunt. Tough loss for us to PNG, but we're certainly not out of the running. Lots of football left. Good luck to Lumberton.
-
Anybody hear of Salenga??? That's all I'm gonna say. Bring this post up Saturday morning.
-
I'd like to see Lumberton beat PNG so that my Dogs have the opportunity to even out the standings. Unfortunately for my Dogs, I think PNG wins.

I said he was player of the MCM game in the "Where are all the Nederland fans" thread. Congrats to the young man.
-
Th refs for MCM were like cows staring at a new gate.
-
Congrats to the Indians. You played a tough game and there was some good hitting from both teams. I was really impressed with Hennings speed after he broke through the line. No one that big should be that fast too. Broussard should get player of the game though. He plays lights out CB.
On the interception.....Nederland was called for a false start so the ball is dead and there is no INT. Lucky break for us in hindsight. I don't know where the delay call came from. It only kept us from being penalized 5 yards, but the ball would have still been ours. Just trying to figure out the refs.
-
I'm outta here. Good luck to both teams.
-
I guess they can't read a newspaper then. Probably have general admission and just want a good seat.
-
People already at the gate at 3:00 pm. Glad I got reserved seats.

baddog im good friends wit butlers cousin and he said that the coach dosent let him do the running punt thing anymore the coach said that it was jus a bunch of high school c&¡p
Yeah, probably so, but Butler made it work. I commend all these great receivers for playing full out on every play and giving us some great plays to remember. Some were award winning players and some were nominated. This is a great thread. I don't give a flip what anyone else thinks about it. After all, it is in the "high school football" forum with a thread topic stating that it is about Nederland receivers. Anyone who doesn't like it, feel free to go elsewhere.
-
Yes he did. IMO, he might be the best of all other mentioned.
He certainly had the potential. Something we'll just never know for sure.
-
Yoder is manager at Sanderson's restaurant. I have no idea what Askew is doing now. Butler's parents sit next to me at the home games and he is punting at a very good JUCO, the name is slipping my mind at the moment.
I wonder if Butler has the same green light on punts that he had with Nederland. I really don't know how many he ran for 1st downs, but it was a lot.
I think Yoder and Askew mirrored each other. I saw Yoder run two consecutive punts back for TDs. Atterberry had the skills and head for the game, but...oh well. I miss that guy. He was really good.

Just curious what some of you think? Here are some of the reasons I think it could happen, but it is not likely.
1. The amount of expansion coming to this area with the local refineries. The people coming in for these jobs will have to live somewhere. if you think local people will fill all these jobs think again. We do not have enough qualified people, or enough people who want to be qualified to man the expansions at Motiva, Valero, and Total.
2. Port Neches and Groves are both pretty much land locked. Nederland still has plenty of land that can be developed like what is happening out at the airport.
I am not sure how close Nederland is to the cutoff, but it was something that crossed my mind that could happen in the next 4 years or so.
I drove by these "houses" the other day and I wasn't impressed at all. Take a drive out there and see what you think. Looked like something out of "Poltergeist" to me. Wasn't it called Phase IV?
-
I think I was one more TD from having a fit! Yall would have seen me storm the field and get escorted out! lol. Nederland was filling up fast though.
Then you should have had that fit because we had an interception TD called back for roughing the passer. tic...hiccup...tic
