  1. When PAISD offered me to bus my kids across town, when my kids lived 3 minutes from the elementary school they had been attending I was mad. When I seen (with my own two eyes) what went on in the middle school classrooms I was done. I LOVE Port Arthur and I wish the district and ALL the children well. BUT I was and am not now willing to trust / deal with or settle for what I felt was not best for mine. I know what PA and PAISD was, but it's not anymore. #neednewleadership.
  2. If any black kid is able to be manipulated, convinced or some how made to self hate. That is the parents fault. The brunt of my childs education is based on what I put into him. The notion that any parent should accept what PAISD has tried to push down people's throats is Utterly ridiculous. If a kid transfers and ends up getting a scholarship you mean to tell me he couldn't have started at Memorial. So Memorial has more talent than the college the kid is going to. That is laughable.
  3. For myself, and the people I know. Ain't no hate for getting your kid to his destination. (ULL, UNLV, TAMU). If a situation is not conducive to you winning THAN you flip the script.
  4. If one of the kids from the Mid - County schools; is from PA and cut his teeth on and fine tuned his game on the courts and fields of PA than he gets love and props from PA. We recognize the situation.
  5. Hadn't heard that, that's great news. It only takes one kid to make it for the rest of the kids to believe that (Hey IT could happen for me).
  6. PA (South County) is a hotbed of talent in every sport, always has been. They just need coaching with an understanding of the kids. A little give and take goes a long way.
  7. New day @ Sabine Pass, not predicting anything. There is a new attitude not at the top, but within the program.
  8. What a difference a couple of cupcakes on the schedule and a new coach makes.
  9. That didn't take long.
  10. I don't any of the particulars of the situation, and unlike some I don't care to know. But let's just say you're right he had numerous chances. The fact remains his FUTURE is ahead of him and whatever (happened) past tense is BEHIND him. So whether this is chance number two or twenty two he has an opportunity to learn and grow from this. The discipline has been handed out, and the family has moved on. If some people are mad because the family didn't lay down, or not fight for their son oh well. Keep hating and the kid will just keep playing. I'm off to another thread have a Blessed day.
  11. Who said anything about CARING about people talking, as always talk is cheap. The question was WHY does it seem like some people have a problem with the kid getting a second chance. It effects you HOW?
  12. I feel confident to say most understand it's a discipline thing. The discipline has been handed out. The family has moved on. Now the kids gets a second chance. Some people seem like they don't want the kid to have a second chance. I Wonder why, that I don't understand.
  13. Whatever the truth is; is only the business of the parties involved It has no bearing on any bodies else's life or situation. Once again Good luck and God bless to the young man. KEEP LOOKING FORWARD AND LEAVE THE HATERS BEHIND YOU.
  14. Congrats to the young man, KEEP LOOKING FORWARD. Now go show up AND show out. To the Mayfield family big ups to you.
  15. Some of us seem to think, you can't be successful in more than one arena of endeavors. Not once did I say Academics was irrelevant. I hold two degrees, and have kids in college. I understand the importance of an education. I also understand the sense of pride having winning athletic programs bring to kids and schools. There is STILL a ton of Purple and Gold in PA because of Lincoln High School.
  16. IMO, Sabine Pass could be a powerhouse at the 2A / 3A, level just from the kids at Memorial that either sit on the bench in football or don't make the team in basketball. Their enrollment is kept at the 2A level on purpose. Bob Hope the charter school in Port Arthur has outgrown Sabine Pass. Hope is now in the district with Kountze or Silsbee in basketball not sure which one but either way Lord help them. If I was in charge at either school we would have a Communications and Culinary Arts program. Not for recruiting purposes mind you, but for higher learning of course. Unfortunately neither Hope or Sabine Pass are proponents of the "If you ain't cheatin you ain't tryin motto.
  17. A vast majority of the kids @ Sabine Pass are from Port Arthur. With a large amount being from the Port Acres area. I've coached youth sports in PA and can't really recall seeing in football or coaching in Basketball any of their kids. I've spoke with kids / parents / coaches and noticed a lot of these kids don't start playing sports until middle school. Which means a lack of fundementals, practice repetitions, game experience, creative confidence and a working knowledge of the game. I sure some years coaching their is almost impossible. To make the situation worse sports are a distant fourth behind; 1) Academics, 2) Anything else, 3) Everything else. So every 3rd or 4th year they may have a respectable season. And that seems to suit Administration and community just fine.
