It was interesting to hear Aledo's new HC talk about the importance of not changing a single thing when he took over from his OC role. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I understand circumstances were different for WOS but it's obvious nobody is happy. Also, it seems if there's no change at Supt. level, you won't get a well seasoned, successful Coach to sign up anyway. On paper, it would be a great opportunity but the reality of it looms much larger. Hang in there Stangs!

I thought the same thing last night when he was doing his interview and stressing about not changing a thing…only a fool or greedy one would want to.

Point taken. Difference is HH jumped right over more qualified and proven coaches on CTs staff. He will always field average to below average teams  as head coach. What we have seen is what we will always get….period. He ain’t the guy that’s going to carry on the Mustang tradition built by many years of hard work by the players coaches teacher community…. Everyone! If you’re happy with average to below average then keep the man as head coach but know what you have! Ultimately our kids pay the price. We should expect nothing but excellence for our school and athletic programs.

All truth, hopefully change is coming soon for the better

We are now experiencing what it is like to hire a head coach with no head coaching experience. First thing he does is change offense and defense. Lack of success and lack of discipline have kids leaving the program. We have the same kids as Gilmer. Difference is in coaching. There was a time when kids wanted to wear that Mustang helmet from the time they were babies. They dreamed of that day when they could put on the blue and silver and run out on the field. Mustangs had swagger and it all started with quality coaching and high expectations and discipline. By the way, kids gravitate toward discipline instinctively. They instinctively gravitate toward accountability. These are good things that lead to success. You are getting what you are going to get out of HH. This is it. It’s time to hold RH and HH accountable for their records. Look at what is happening over at PNG. Oh that’s right… they went out and searched the state and opened up their wallet for Jeff Joseph and look at the results. WOS should be running deep into the playoffs every year and be in the running to make it to state. Right now we are a fourth place team at best limping into the playoffs with zero confidence and zero quality coaching.  Our community and kids deserve better.  RH and HH should be fired. By the way, RH’s record in improving academic scores is abysmal . A real superintendent committed to academics and athletics is needed. In addition a real extensive and exhaustive search for a quality HC AD REGARDLESS OF COLOR is needed immediately. We cannot be okay with average whether it’s academic or athletic. Say what you want, a successful winning WOS football program charges our community and brings us all together. We cannot sit by and let 43 years of Mustang  tradition die without speaking up.

I agree with everything except in the beginning you said we are experiencing what it’s like hiring a first time HC.Are you saying that’s why we’re less than average? He is the reason we’re experiencing this but it’s not because he’s a first time HC,look over at PNG…He and HH started last year, did you see Aledo last night! They haven’t missed a beat with their first year new HC!

Talent > Coaching. There could be several reasons for WOS struggles but talent is the overwhelming greatest factor for ever

WOS struggles is all coach! His first year he had like 38 returning, maybe not as much this season but yes sir his first was loaded…btw from the goats mouth before he left was “this freshman class is talented and I want to coach them before I decide what I wanna do “of course he didn’t get to at the highest level,I think they are seniors now

We are 7-1 all time against region 1 teams (darn Sweetwater) and 8-1 all time in semi final games. 2014 we were in region 3 and had to beat Cuero in the semis. Generally if we can get out of our region we advance to the big game. Now winning the big game is a whole lot different.  We are 3-5 in championship games.

You sure about that?2014 y’all beat us(WOS)..pretty sure we have always been region 3

Agree with this. One thing to keep in mind that’s different for this year, though. The parking lot doesn’t open until 9:30 AM. Kickoff is at 11 AM. Uncertain whether third party parking lots around the stadium will open earlier. The shuttle service or an rideshare service may be the way to go.

9:30 won’t be bad for 11 start, the doors don’t open early either..we froze our tails off in 2016 and they wouldn’t even let us stand inside by the doors

I'm a UT fan and I believe Washington is a bad matchup for us. Washington's pass offense against our weak secondary worries me. I've said all year long a good pass offense would kick our ass. Well Washington has a great pass offense with some stud WR's! I hope I'm wrong on my thoughts though.

I’ve had the same thoughts…hope we’re both wrong and the other side is I feel like we can score a bunch on them! Shootout !!

Let's talk about what improvements the Mustangs can make to their offense, if they are moving on from the current OC. IMO start with North Shore and those coaches over there who have a proven WINNING record. Maybe, shell out some money to get good season coaches who can help Coach H build up this program. I keep up with Kendall Cleveland who is doing good things as an asst. coach. His team is in the playoffs as of yesterday.  Things NEED to get better period!!

No good seasoned coach that has the pedigree will come in under H,they would have to have the reins. The guy we should be looking for may not wanna come at all now…Kendall would be a great fit imo to take over the program alongside several others that would love to help him!Doubt if he would though,he’s doing great things where he is.
