  1. Its my opinion, thats why it said "just personally feel College Station is a far better program." Some things that make me feel this way:

    • twelve baseball program
    • larger area to pull kids from
    • multiple D1 scholarships
    • # 1 ranking in state
    • tougher schedule
I'm not saying Silsbee can't win, anything is possible. One great pitching effort can shut down any team. As for your Navasota comment, I'll just leave that alone. I'm actually born and raised in SETX, from Dayton. I don't feel they are better because of where they are from.

Please stop using logic to talk about playoff games. I did it last week with Huffman vs College Station and the same was told to me. I see CS winning this game as well, but Silsbee has been playing great ball heading into and in the playoffs, as you have also noted, and could win this game, as you have also noted, but IMO CS will win for many of the reasons you have stated. I also have no ties to CS we are from Brenham.
  2. One of these teams in 3 games!! Wish I could call it!!

After looking even further into this game/series and seeing how both theses teams are playing right now......I stand by this prediction! Both have some top quality wins against top quality teams. If Brenham wasn't still playing I would be watching this one.
  3. It is possible that they are the 2nd best team in region 3.

Exactly. "You wont find a better or more talented team". The winner of this series will be the better team. Playoffs are how you determine the "better" team.

    Any updates?

    A. not yet are they the second best team!! I don't believe they will be either
    B. College Station was the better team
    C. College Station won game 2 and game 3
  4. GO CUBS!!!!!!!!!! A.K.A. The home run machines!

Blake Wellmann (Jr) hit a HR last night as well. But the story of the night was Theodore Hoffman hit a BOMB to dead center field for what appeared to be a walk-off 2R HR, but a balk was called as the pitch was thrown!! After everyone calmed down from the excitement of the HR and then the shock of the call, runner awarded 2nd base, they put Thoedore on 1st after that and Brewton hits a walk-off single to win the game. Had that HR stood it would have been his 7th in the playoffs! The Cubs are playing good ball right now, but we have a very good George Ranch team to play this week. Should be a great series! GO CUBS!!! KKD
  5. It is possible that they are the 2nd best team in region 3.

Really??! I said in my post that it doesn't mean they can't be beat, ANYBODY can be beat, just that you won't find a better or more talented team in the state. Just remember.......it's a series!! And no...not a CS homer either. Good win for Huffman to take game 1.
  6. College Station high school opened last year with just a freshman and sophomore class and the plan was to make both of the schools in CS 4a after this year. I went and watched them play Bridge City last year as freshmen and sophomores and they were already pretty dang good. They have some biiiig kids. Kind of like Yates jumping down to 3a in basketball. Not real fair.

I don't know if "fair" is the right word to use because CS has been 3A since the school opened. Yates used to be a 5A(6A) school and dominated for years at that level then numbers dropped and they are now in 3A(4A). -Side Note- Man the new classification that the UIL did sure makes it a pain to talk about classes and such, but whatever. CS will be in the new 5A next year and will still be ranked near the top and yes, they are Huge kids. I think when a school has competed at a higher classification then moves down it is an advantage to that school because they are used to competing at a higher level. Cameron Yoe was a 3A forever and only had the 1 state title in '80. They move down to 2A about 4 years back and win State in baseball the first year and 2 titles in football. Do they do the same in 3A?
  7. I'll say this for our two districts, each of us had 3 teams reach the third round of the playoffs. That says a lot about the quality of the teams in our districts. We split two early games with Santa Fe by similar scores as y'all had with them. This is the equivalent of football playing games into December. Everybody is good at this point. Btw it's refreshing to have a mature discussion about two good teams.
  8. I'd describe our team as scrappy.  We we got off to a slow start in a tough district, but then came on at just the right time.

We have two really solid starters (not necessarily blowing people away), situational hitting, pretty good team speed, and solid fielding in both infield and out.  Bullpen has a lot of variety, but again not likely to blow people away. Its kind of been a different hero every game with some unexpected guys stepping up and getting it done in clutch situations.

The team was highly motivated to beat Santa Fe.  The games were heated in the stands and on the field.  No blows exchanged, but a lot of words and bad intentions. So, we might have played a little above our normal levels.

    How about Brenham?

I know it will come across probably the wrong way, but Brenham is Brenham. Solid in every position, deep pitching-finesse and power, 1-9 can hit with kids sitting that would start on other teams. Lots of speed and power to drive in runs. Heard it was heated with Santa Fe, but that's to be expected when district foes meet in the playoffs. Would have been same way if Brenham would have faced Mag West instead of KPark. At the end of the day, stats mean squat at this point cause it's win or go home. Looks like it will be a good series. GO CUBS!! KKD
  9. #1 team in 3a

Know this might sound crazy, but they might be the #1 team in any class!! I know 4 of them have committed to D1 schools and several others have offers. OF Johnson will be a first round selection in next years draft. I know that doesn't mean they can't be beat, but there is not a better team in the state than College Station in any class IMO. Brenham and College Station played early in the season with CS winning 5-2 in a very good game.
