Baytown Sterling has the top two guards fom Gentry JH and a couple of the big boys from Cedar Bayou JH. They have the potential to be pretty good.
-
I wonder when the Crosby, Dayton, and BH crowd are gonna join us.
-
Gentry 7A - 13 BH South - 2 Gentry 7B - 12 BH South - 0 I'll try to get the 8A score tomorrow.
-
Gentry 8B beats BH south 20 to 6.

I think GCCISD's Athletic Director needs to get more involved with the Junior High's. It's way past time for them to get their act together. That's sucks for both teams kids to be shorted a game. Why can't they rotate the the B team kids until they get more equiopment?

After talking to my boys, I am correct. Gentry's starting QB and #1 RB are currently zoned for GCM. Their #2 RB is also currently zoned for GCM but I heard he is switching to WR. I can also see the QB swiching to RB in high school. Of course this may change if the schools are rezoned or if any of these kids applies to one of the academies at another school.
-
Can't remember the name and number, I'll have to ask my boys. In fact, I'm thinking the top two running backs as well as the QB are zoned for GCM as well. Again the whole academy thing can change things.

Nah, GCM just needs to pull an Olin and recruit Sterling and Lee's atelete's north.....; ).

I haven't been able to make it to a practice yet but from what I hear the 8th grade team returned intact so they should be pretty good again this year. I heard the 7th grade team may be a little weak but then again I heard that last year about this 8th grade squad and they turned out pretty good. Don't listen to Buddy, GCM has a strong freshman class this year and the 8th graders going in next year are just going to make them stronger. Gentry's top running back is zoned for GCM (unless he applies for one of the academys) so they're going to be tough in a couple of years. I look for a slight drop off next year, followed by a steady rise in play for the next 4 or 5 years. No disrespect Buddy, but I hope your mailboxes get stuffed with junk mail. lol. Maybe some of those Port Arthur Atheletes need to move away from that sinking ship and head this way to a program on the rise. In fact I'll start stock piling mail boxes here in Baytown. P.O. First week of practice is over. Time to put the pads on and hit somebody.
-
Jus an FYI, Gentry and CBJ have their schedules up on the GCCISD website. Nothing for Highands yet. Ya'll play us on 9/29, and CBJ on 10/20.
-
You're in the same boat I was in last year. My oldest is in fish camp at GCM and my youngest is in 8th. Gentry's 8th grade should be strong again this year. I don't know nuch about the incoming 7th graders.
-
Sure haven't. Do you know who they played?

Gentry vs Cedar Bayou 7B Gentry lost ends the season 5-3 8B Gentry wins and wins district, ends the season 8-0 8A Gentry wins and wins district, ends the season 8-0 in district and 14-1 over all. Haven't heard anything on the 7A Team yet. Great season Mustangs!

Gentry 7B beat Dayton by 6 Gentry 8B beat Dayton by alot Gentry 8A beat Dayton by 40 Not sure of 7A yet but I heard they beat Crosby last week. As far as records, I think Gentry 7A just has the loss to Highlands. 7B has two losses. 8A and B have no district losses. Cedar Bayou is next on the schedule.
-
Gentry vs Crosby: 7B lost by four -They had a couple of kids moved up to A team to replace kids they lost and it hurt. 8B won by one - Heard it was an exciting finish. 8A won by six - Still playing without our star shooting guard, but he'll be back next week. Haven't heard anything on 7A yet.

12 - 19 over the last two years. I'm not too heart broken about it. -
Congrats, Cunningham is always tough. For some reason Gentry's B teams don't play in any tourny's. My 7th grader's not happy about that.
-
Gentry 8A gets it's first and hopefully only loss of the year. They take 2nd place in the Baytown Tournament beating Highlands and Cedar Bayou before losing to Huffman in the Championship game. Our star shooting guard was held out of the tourney and then our star point guard became sick during the championship game and did not play alot in the second half. That being said, the boys played with a lot of heart and gritted out two tough wins and stayed even with a strong Huffman team up until the final minutes. Good job Mustangs!

Gentry has a bye week this week, their 8A team will be playing in the Baytown Tournament at Horace Mann tomorrow and Saturday. First game is against Highlands at 6:15 friday. Other teams in the tournament are: Cedar Bayou, Horace Mann, Baytown Jr., Crosby, Galena Park, and Huffman. GCM, any word on your 8th grade team?
-
At least ya'll are winning like us. I try and focus on how the kids are improving. How close was the game? We play Dayton in three weeks. In fact we have a bye week next week, Crosby, Dayton, and Cedar Bayou. I haven't heard much on Cedar Bayou except that the B team went 1 and 3 in the San Jac invitational tounament.

Thanks.

Gentry 7B, 8B, and 8A all beat BH North tonight. I haven't heard anything on the 7A game yet.
