  1. It may be harder than you think to get a top notch coach. What would a coach have to do to keep his job? Coach Bryant has a tremendous record, probably the best in SE Texas during his time as head coach, and that wasn't enough to keep his job. I just think alot of coaches may shy away because of this. With that being said, good luck, I hope you get a good one. We want to keep our rivalry alive. I think all of SE Texas looks forward to our matchups each year.
  2. Nolan Ryan used to throw 150 pitches a game and that really hurt his career. Lol. I think it depends on the pitcher and you can't pull a pitcher in a game with a no hitter no matter what his pitch count is. If they get a hit off of him, then you pull him.
  3. I'm hoping that I get off of work early enough to be there for the beginning of the game. If not, I'll be there when I can.
  4. Congrats to both. Lamar got two steals on both of them. They will both do well at the next level.
  5. Someone tell me about Nederland's field? I haven't been there in a couple of years. How deep is it? How good of shape is it in?
  6. Both Chad and Casey Beck were recently promoted. Chad is now in High A ball, while Casey was promoted to low A ball. Congrats to them both.
  7. CircleChange wants to build up BC as the underdog, but Jasper is the underdog. BC beat us twice this year and won district. We got third. However, we don't want our season to end this week, so it should be a great series. Whoever wins should play in the regional finals.
  8. I'll be the first to get on here and say something positive since everything else has been negative. Congratulations to all who received awards. You all are very deserving and its nice to see all the hard work pay off for you. For those on teams in the playoffs, good luck.
  9. That is the last thing that you want to hear. Prayers sent from Jasper. Keep us posted.
  10. Easy there farmer! You weren't getting called out. You may have two good pitchers for district 22, but they both wouldn't be aces in district 21. I think anyone who has watched teams from both districts would agree.
  11. To everyone in BC, you have a great team, but if you worry to much about individual awards, your team will become individualistic. I bet any Jasper player that received an award would trade it in for another state ring.
  12. As much as I hate to go against the local team, I've got to pick CH in a sweep of both games. I think their pitching will be stronger than what EC has seen all year. Unless EC can hold them to 1 or 2 runs each game, I don't think they stand much of a chance.
  13. Malcolm Bronson- Jasper OF, Sr. Not sure of the stats, but I can't see many being better than him in SETX. He can do it all, hit for power, run, throw. He's the complete package.
  14. Congrats on the win. That must have been awesome to be on the same field as a hall of famer. Who all pitched for BC?
  15. I could see any team from 21-3a going to state. I think the three best teams in the region are all from this district.
  16. Wow, what a finish! I got home from watching Jasper and listened to the broadcatst. Congrats to Vidor. We're rooting for yall up here in Jasper.
  17. Not everyone. Anyone who watched them any last year knew that they would be a very good team this year. I think most of the doubters thought that Treece carried the team last year and didn't realize what all you had coming back. I would have picked you third in my preseason picks as would most people, so you may end up right where everyone thought or possibly a spot better.
  18. No we do not have to be BC, although i think we will. Our remaining schedule is BC and OF. OF friday and BC Tuesday. If we win Friday we clinch that second spot. If I'm looking at the records right, if Jasper wins out and HJ loses to BC, then Jasper and HJ will be tied and have to play a playoff for 2nd place.
  19. CircleChange, you ought to apply. I think a good coach could win there. They always have athletes.
  20. I believe Girdley's career was shortened due to a motorcycle accident. It had nothing to do with innings pitched.
  21. I'm saying that mechanics have alot to do with wear and tear on a pitchers arm. Parsons has great mechanics and as far as the offspeed pitches go, a change-up is not going to put as much stress on your arm as a curve ball or a fastball. With proper rest over the next week, it will be no big deal. I also don't believe that throwing on four days rest one time during the season will harm you. If you do it repeatedly over the course of a season, then yes, there may be problems.
  22. 14 innings in 4 days is true. But with Parsons, its not as big a deal as it is for a flamethrower. He throws 60 to 70% offspeed, with very little wear on the arm. With adequate rest, it will be no big deal. BTW, I listened to the game last night and I've said it before that HF is definitely the scariest team in the district. I think BC would agree after the scare that they had with them. I knew that they would knock off someone, but I just hoped it wouldn't have been us.
  23. I'm with you CrackerJack, I would probably rank it the same way right now. This year Region 4 is stacked. Region 3 is the next strongest region.
  24. Why can't you just admit that what the BC fans did last night was wrong. I've admitted on here befor that our kids running the bases last year was wrong. Whether they had bad intentions or not, they could have easily started a fight or worse. There were elderly fans and small children all on the Jasper side. I know for a fact that an older lady did get knocked down. Lets encourage the kids to have fun the right way.
