  1. Were you watching the same game as me? Yes, the bad snaps hurt you, but that may have been in part due to Jasper's Nose guard being one of the best in the area. Like I said before, you rush things when you are under pressure. The center had to rush the snap in order to block the NG. As far as sacks go, you are not going to sack a QB like yours very often. He is just too slippery. The pressure I'm talking about is having someone in your face forcing you to scramble. He never got a chance to set his feet and establish a rhythm.
  2. "I very rarely discredit a team for winning a game, but in this case, this was more of Silsbee losing the game and Jasper being the beneficiary. Tough, tough loss" I disagree. I think the pressure that Jasper's defense caused alot of the mistakes that you talk about. The QB never had a chance to set his feet and throw all night. The rush from Jasper was constant. When you are constantly being pressured, it forces you to rush things and make mistakes. Overall, good win for the Dawgs.
  3. Shermdog, thanks for posting this. This has always bothered me. I can't think of only a handful of high school stadiums where it is done right.
  4. Kirbyville wins by as much as they want to win by. Easy win.
  5. The coach did the right thing though. Take care of it before someone else takes care of it for you. Plus, it's a teaching opportunity to show the players that doing the right thing sometimes sucks.
  6. I don't know anything about the situation down there, but could it be that this years team doesn't have the overall talent that the teams of the past few years have had. There are very few schools who consistently win 8 or 9 games a year for more than a few years(WOS, Newton).
  7. This is not a prediction, but Jasper also has a heck of a kicker too this year. I believe that may be a first for us.
  8. Ryker and bluetic, give me a break. Anyone with any sense would tell you that Jasper plays a very hard pre-district schedule. Those same people would also tell you that you could very easily have lost all of those games. Its not the coaches. Wait till district, they'll be fine. Then you can go around town talking about how your griping on the internet got the coaches to change the way they do their business and because you stood up, it turned the season around. GET A LIFE!!!
  9. If the 'Stros didn't have to play those two home games at "Wrigley North", I think they could have done it. I just think its to much of a long shot now.
  10. Gotta go with Kountze in this one. They beat EC last year and have the majority of the team back. BC is still a year or two away.
  11. Not a chance that Jasper is worried about K'ville. Right now, there worried about beating Gilmer. K'ville is just trying to stir things up. Enjoy your two game win streak. It means nothing.
  12. Good job Jasper. The starters put up 29 points in 1 half and 1 possession of the second half on a very sloppy field. I just hope we didn't have any injuries. From what I can tell, QB Dominique Bailey has really improved throwing the ball over last season. The bottom line is this, we got what we needed from the scrimmages, now lets forget that and get ready for Gilmer next week.
  13. I knew everyone would hammer me for saying that, but that's what I believe. I was looking at the situation the way a coach might look at it. If I were a coach, would I rather go to a school where the previous coach won 85% of his games and got canned? After he got canned, the message boards go crazy with people on here screaming politics were the reason. Or, would I rather go to another school with just as much talent and tradition without all of the extra stuff to deal with. I never said that the BC job was a bad one, I just believe that Carthage would be a more appealing job for a coach.
  14. No offense, but I would probably rank this a little higher than BC, strictly because politics aren't as bad there. The BC job was not very appealing because you win 85% of your games and thats not good enough. That probably wouldn't be the case in Carthage. As far as talent goes, each place will always have some of the best talent in the state.
  15. I was told that the coach was at Kirbyville before he got there. This goes to show that there was some good baseball played in and around Jasper this year. Two teams headed to state. One regional finals team and one regional semifinals team. Congrats to all.
  16. Congrats Cougars! Now go win state. All of Jasper county will be rooting for you.
  17. That's kinda what I expected. Hutto is a good team with really good pitching. If the bracket falls right for them at state, they could win it.
  18. Congrats Buna, that was a great game. Both sides fans were great. Packed house. You couln't ask for more, except for another win on Saturday. Go get 'em.
  19. I don't know if I can make that long drive into town.. :) Of course I'll be there. A regional finals series in Jasper, can't miss it. Go get 'em Cougs.
  20. That lies at the root of the problem, when you coached them they went to state. Well congratulations, but the competition level is different at the high school level. Kids mature differently. Just because a group of kids were the best at age 12 or 13 doesn't mean they will be the best at 17. The bottom line is this, BC has had one of if not the best program the last five years. Naming another 3a school with a better record over that time would be hard. It takes luck to win a state championship in high school and maybe these guys didn't catch the breaks to win one, but nobody will argue that you knew you had to bring your "A" game when you played BC.
  21. Region 1- Snyder-walked through a weak region, more pitching depth than Cooper Region 2- Pittsburg- hot right now and have luck on their side Region 3- Hutto- They beat Jasper, gotta pull for them plus there pretty freaking good Region 4- Winner wins the state championship, I'll take Sinton in 3
  22. I agree, coaching is more than wins or losses. I can only comment on what I have observed. Yes, BC does win and win alot, but they also win and show class. Apparently someone is teaching them about sportsmanship and how to handle success as well as failure. These players third period chemistry teacher is not the one teaching them this. This comes directly from the coaches.
