  1. I believe Justin Parsons has verbally committed to Texarkana Junior College.
  2. The word is that it was holding ducks, but supposedly the duck weed is dying and the ducks are leaving. Don't know for sure, but that's just what I heard.
  3. One of the kids from my church showed me a picture of a deer he killed in Nacogdoches that scored 160 1/8. He's 14. How's that for luck. I'll try to get a pic to post.
  4. As well as Meeks threw against Jasper, he could be hard to replace. I agree that you have very good players stepping up to fill in for the graduates. It should be a fight between Jasper and BC for district.
  5. I think WOS gets the win vs. the AP #1 this week.
  6. I have to agree. His defensive skills aren't as good as some, but the kid sure can hit.
  7. Congrats from Jasper. Glad to see Lamar continue to recruit from the local talent. Eric will do a great job for Coach Gilligan.
  8. Congrats from Jasper. VJ will do well. He's a great shortstop. I'm glad he signed close to home.
  9. I don't think the rest of the region is quite as tough as it was last year(I could be wrong, but I don't think I am), so I think this district could get to state. You gotta catch some breaks to get there though. If you make it, anything can happen. I would think that Sinton will be very tough to beat at state though. They didn't lose hardly anyone from last year and region II is always tough. I'd love to see my Dawgs get another shot at it though.
  10. Thats why they take the district record instead of one game. Every team in the district is going to get a little beat up during the course of the season. Don't use that as an excuse. A good team will not let that hold them back. Give Kountze their props. They beat you. Now you have to go out and win next week or stay home for the playoffs. If you dwell on losing to those hated Lions, that's exactly what might happen.
  11. Not gonna happen. The district is to tough.
  12. It must be computer class at HJ. Bigdaddydave, mwhizzie, and dirtydoody, shame on you, talking on the forum instead of doing your classwork. Get back to work guys.
  13. I've watched a couple of Jr. High games this year and was wonderring what you guys thought about what some teams are doing at the Jr. High level. My question is this. Which theory is better? Theory 1- Blitz everyone every play and win now and teach technique as they get older. The feeling of success is most important now. Theory 2- Teach sound technique now and maybe not win as much. They will learn how to play sound football for when they get into high school.
  14. You really aren't worth replying to but, what type of gun did they hit 90's on. I'm sorry but there aren't many kids in southeast Texas that can hit 90. I've heard that the kid from Kelly can hit 90. He's the only one that I know of around here. There are many mid to upper 80's types, but just not many 90's.Many people try to claim that they throw 90 but when you put a gun on them, they are usually well below 90.
  15. I don't know if Orangefield will get in this year or not. I think they are still a year away(too young). Statum will win some games for them, and you never know. It could happen.
  16. I can only think of one pitcher in the region in 3a who throws in the nineties. That would be the kid from Carthage.
  17. First off, I'm not ree-tawdid (that was a lame putdown by the way). Second off, you must be one of the HJ pitchers. This is a thread about 21-31 flamethrowers. Treece is no longer in 21-3a. Quit trying to bring him back. As far as the JV kids go, last year BC had a righthander with a tremendous upside for this year. I think he will be as good or better than monse or rodgers. I saw both Monse and Rogers twice last year and would consider them average at best. Both throw between 78 and 82 with average breaking balls. Last year, the kid from BC threw low to mid 80's with an average breaking ball. He would have been HJ's #2 or #3. He was on JV because of Stringer, Meeks, and Hicks being in front of him. If HJ's pitching staff is the best in the district as was stated by TPX, then this district is tremendously over-rated. I'm not saying they are bad, just not great.
  18. Not hardly! They don't have anyone as good as Parsons and Stevenson from Jasper,or Hicks from BC, or McDonald from Silsbee. BC has a couple of JV kids from last year that will be better than HJ's best.
  19. The reason Silsbee can't be thrown in there is because of pitching. If Skinner can get his act together, then you throw them in there. If he doesn't step up, I don't know who else they have to go to. However, I would say that Silsbee has the potential, if things go there way to have a good season, just probably not in the top two of the district.
  20. Who won any big games besides Treece? Both Jasper and BC have returning players who have won the big games. I'm sorry, but none of your returning players are the caliber that Treece was. HJ will not be in the top two in their district.
  21. I have to agree SETXbroadcaster. I am not from Jasper, just an implant. I have always felt since last year that our fans were not what they should be. Maybe they are spoiled to exceptional teams, I don't know, but it shouldn't matter. This is Texas high school football. You go watch the entire game on Friday night, win or lose.
