Sheldon C.E. King (63) @ Crosby (7) FINAL
Cougar14.2 replied to jdawg03's topic in High School Football
IDK how that's going to really work though? Even if you don't build "new" schools you're still going to need to build new schools in some capacity. Crosby's new school was built to hold just shy of 3,000 kids. By the time they're finished with the all the subdivisions they're building in and around Newport and that huge swath of land they're developing on your way to Huffman, Crosby's school will be overcrowded. Crosby ISD owns enough land where we could easily build a freshman campus though. I think people just undershot the growth in Fort Bend and Harris County. Katy Paetow picked up 990 kids since 2020 and are projected to be over 5,000 by the next realignment if they don't get another high school. Per their community newsletter, "The timeline for constructing High School No. 10 was delayed because the bond election was delayed from November 2020 to May 2021, Vierling explained. When the new high school does open, it will help relieve enrollment at Paetow High School. If it isn’t built, Paetow High School would have nearly 5,000 students by 2024, Vierling said.". I really don't see a way around just keep building new schools because the contractors definitely aren't going to stop building houses in those areas. I think y'all may be right in terms of your inner-city ISD schools being able to contract but I don't see how that's going to work in the suburbs at all? Even in the inner-city you run into problems though. Prime example is Madison and Westbury which are only about 5 miles apart but if you combined the two then neither campus has the capability of housing 4,000+ kids they would have so you would need a new school or a massive expansion at one of them. Same for your Dallas ISD schools which are even closer together than most Houston ISD UIL schools. -

They picked up about 500 kids since 2020 and aren't even finished with that subdivision right south of the school that exploded their enrollment. They're closer to being done with their other huge subdivision Liberty Lakes but they're going to be well over 4,000 kids by the 2026 realignment. Their school was only built to house 3,500 kids so they'll either need another one or a freshman campus. With their old head coach moving into an AD only position it leads me to believe that a bond for yet another high school may be in the works in the not too distance future. IDK where they would put it though, unless they bought the old golf course from the city and put it there. Sheldon ISD could easily split CE King's attendance zone into two 5A schools and still be formidable with the benefit of open enrollment. -

Imagine somebody from Huffman making comments on who's going to be playing in December🤣🤣🤣 Dude you're funny. Y'all are about to get crop dusted in district play by a bunch of TIG welders' kids and some boys that play in a mosquito pit. -

We're not Huffman bro, we don't actually suck in real life. If we did we wouldn't have made the 5A playoffs 16 of the last 17 years. You of all people should know how stepping up in competition can be difficult the way Crosby erased Huffman when they had the audacity to move into our district. Last time Crosby go beat down like this in an opener we went 10-3 and lost a tight one to Pearland Dawson on a bad call. Look at our non-district schedule over the years. Crosby coaches don't schedule The Sisters of the Poor in openers like y'all did just so the kids can squeak by for a feel good win. Our goal is to be playing on Black Friday and beyond so we schedule accordingly. -
That's the crazy part. We looked so solid against Lamar and then in a span of two weeks we get 8 kids hurt. We even have some backups of the hurt players hurt. I don't even think some of the kids we had playing last week were even listed in the program? It is what it is though, we won't see anything else like Lamar or King on the schedule this year.

FB Marshall hit a slant to Banks for 95 yards on their first offensive play and then basically stalled the rest of the game. Klein was better than FB Marshall at the line of scrimmage and could've scored a lot more points but their QB can't hit the side of a barn. FBM was playing solid defense though. At the beginning of the year I said if FB Marshall moved Jakoby Banks to wide receiver they might start to look like closer to those '18 and '19 teams. Last year they didn't have very good QB play and the kid they have they have now wasn't overly impressive against Klein but I assume it was his first career start. With guys out we don't have anybody that can stick Banks so that's a concern but I also think our offense will have a better day, particularly Myles, without five huge D1 kids collapsing the pocket on him. I think he was 5/13 for 46 yards 1/1 and had -4 yards rushing but again, it's hard to make anything of that when his two playmakers are missing on the outside.
-
Well, we'll see what happens tonight. We're still going to be down seven starters and potentially eight depending on how you want to look at it. Hard to get a good evaluation on the team when we're missing so many impact players. Throw in the fact that none of the transfers are eligible yet and it makes us even shorter on depth. Hopefully the drop in competition allows us to play a little better tonight but it doesn't look like any of the injured players will be allowed to suit up until at least the BH game.

Absolutely not the same King which exactly why it’s hard to get any real gauge on how we can play with so many studs missing. We would’ve lost to A&M Consol. last year if we had as many injuries as we do now. We lost to Ennis 62-16 in ‘09 and they were in the same class with us. We’re going to be fine when healthy. -

🙄🙄🙄 When Crosby has 3,600 kids like King does we’ll absolutely be able to compete with them again. You use the Ridge Point example but left out the fact that the very next year after we played them they were playing in the 6A-D1 playoffs so to say they “barely” crossed the threshold is pretty naive. King’s enrollment has jumped by 1,300 kids since the last time they played Crosby. Lol, I’d we listed to you Crosby would still suck. You talked all that hot **** about Crosby not being able to beat anybody else besides the GT teams and we run through the region in back to back years. Just make sure you keep that exact same energy when we’re healthy. *just so y’all can reference what @panamamyers was saying in relation to Ridge Point. The very next year they went 10-0 in the Fort Bend 6A district and lost in the 2nd round of the 6A-D1 playoffs to Lamar. Same situation as George Ranch, Shadow Creek and now Katy Paetow, who all won titles, winning big while they’re more than 1,000 students over the cutoff line. [Hidden Content] -

Crosby has played like this in a bunch of opening games the last 7 or 8 years. We’ve just never played anybody with the level of personnel King has. We’ll be alright once we get the players back who aren’t done for the season. -

Crosby went a lot of iron on iron during fall camp just got banged up. When your two top receivers who averaged 18.1 ypc and 24.7 ypc along with the #6 rated running back in Texas in the ‘25 are all in street clothes you expect some sputtering from the offense. Then we lose a LB who was probably going to be the defensive MVP of the district🤦🏾♂️ Trying to play that kind of personnel with comparably limited depth and then being down several studs is tough. I think we’ll be fine though. Very humbling experience. Not sure I’ve ever seen Crosby get done like that. -

63-7 King final Flat out destroyed in the trenches tonight. Was going to be a tough go down 7 starters but man, this was bad. -

We miss the seam route to go up 14-0. We fumble the kick at the 10 yard line and give them an easy one. Then we miss a FG. After that we get a 1st and goal and screw that up. CE King is very good but our injuries compounded with poor play may be too much to handle tonight. -

Before the game I said it was all about if Crosby could keep from getting dominated at the line of scrimmage. Well, we are🤦🏾♂️ 28-7 King at the half -
My younger cousin played quarterback at Arlington Bowie from ‘06-‘08. I was going to college in East Texas so I would go watch as many of his games as I could his sophomore year. They lost in the first round his sophomore year so during the second round we all went to the Carroll vs Trinity game at Texas stadium. It was the greatest spectacle I’ve ever experienced in high school football. The next year Arlington Bowie actually plays Trinity in the regional final in the same location at Texas Stadium in yet another thriller and ends up losing on a late fumble. Trinity goes to state that year and while we’re watching the title game my girlfriend at the time goes “Yay, Coach Lineweaver is going to win another state championship!”. She then proceeds to tell me he was the coach when they won state at Commerce so I’ve always kind of checked on them since then. Her best friend, my kids’ “aunt” also lives in Bedford and has kids that will attend ET. They’re one of the more interesting teams around the state with the Polynesian aspect.

Did Kroger get hurt in a scrimmage or something? Why is a 5’7” kid playing? You kind of highlighted why I think Gary Joseph is the best coach in the state. He’s working with way less than guys like Dodge, Samples, Kay or Surratt. Still, Joseph only has one 10-win season and one 11-win season, the other 16 seasons he’s won at least 12 or more games. -
Denton guyer 47 Rockwall heath 14 final !!!
Cougar14.2 replied to lcm93's topic in High School Football
I think there's a very good chance Longview loses to Boyd tonight. DCTF seems right giving Longview the nod over Denton Ryan now but Longview has to prove they can get consistent QB play and that Taylor Tatum can stay healthy while carries the load at RB. Prosper was a regional final team in 6A-D2-R2 and Boyd beat them by 28 in the regular season finale last year. New Braunfels over DR was kind of a shocker but Boyd over Longview wouldn't be at all. -
That's an even better sign for Trinity then. If you can hold Prosper to 17 points without playing consistent offense that's a good sign Jr.'s defenses might be as good as Dad's one day. One thing for sure is that he has the personnel to do whatever he needs to.
-
He was ahead of schedule for a Spring ACL injury but I was told he was trying to be ready by the Crosby game and hurt it again in practice not too long ago. Maybe he has Adrian Peterson ligaments but I would imagine he's done for the entire year. It's probably also the safer play considering he has another year to accumulate film to get him to the next level.

They’re also 1st and 2nd in talent and probably top three in coaching at the 6A level, pretty lethal combination. Only coaches to coach at least 23 of a possible 24 playoff games at the 6A level the past four years are Jon Kay, Reginald Samples and Todd Dodge. To be clear, I think Gary Joseph is the best coach at the 6A level and the state in general. I think Samples and Kay are top 3 now that Todd Dodge has retired. -
In two of the last three years Prosper has made the 6A-R2 regional finals in both D1 and D2. Prosper is an exploding community with Austin Westlake-type athletes. They’re on that second tier of defensive teams around the state at the 6A level behind Westlake, North Shore, Katy and Duncanville. No shame at all in Trinity losing to Prosper, they even beat Allen last season giving them their first district loss in IDK how many years?
-
That's the difficult part about playing teams like CE King, North Shore, Duncanville, Desoto, etc. They already have a bunch of talent to begin with, throw in the fact that they're also open enrollment and you basically end up with select teams playing UIL football. If the UIL wanted to add an additional level of "fairness" outside of the enrollment caps they could do something like the NCAA and allow the one-time transfer free of penalty. Crosby has had kids denied even when they had legit Crosby addresses. We've had kids that had to sit out a season like one of our starting LBs this year, and still currently have kids with eligibility issues. It kind of puts you at a disadvantage for doing things the right way. Meanwhile, talent-rich schools get even more rich.

What is everyone's opinion about the alto situation?

I swear, the only difference between THSF and SEC football are the bag men: -
The starting QB for Lamar is the same Rosenthal kid from last year. It WB has anything on the defensive line they’ll probably be able to get to Rosenthal on a pretty regular basis. He was only 4-11 for 104 passing in last year’s game but he rushed for 140 yards on 15 carries. It just looks like WB struggled in general in the trenches against Lamar last year though. Lamar had 47 rushing attempts for 324 yards and 6 TDs.
