  1. "Go get the coach from...." As stated countless times: Most "not so great schools" don't pay enough money to attract a quality, well known, big name coach. And if you want a coach that's NOT ON THE APPLICANT LIST, you need even more money than that. The amount you didn't have to start with I mean.
  2. Surely you jest. I have it on good authority that there are coaches capable of winning a state championship in any school within 7 years.... regardless of their players' athletic ability. They call this seemingly mythical group of men "Elite". I know it may sound silly.. but it's true. You sound like one of those kid blamers. (Disclaimer: This only exists in the sport of football)
  3. I couldn't agree with you more. I can't stand when there are co-anythings.
  4. I watched the second half of the game on NFHS. Their half court defense was definitely bad. Also, Kountze missed several what I consider as unnecessary deep 3 point attempts.. and their free throw shooting cost them a few possessions worth of points. Buna broke the press easily. It turned into vastly more offensive points than it did turnovers in Kountze's favor. I know that's what they do but it definitely wasn't working. Not sure Kountze's answer for when they can't score from their press. Seems like it's "give the ball to the PG and let him create". Not sound in my opinion.. but, meh. I don't really care. Best of luck fighting it out for the last spot.
  5. Wouldn't it be fun if Orangefield lost tonight.. and Kountze lost... Wouldn't that force two seeding games? By the way.. EC's ace should get MVP. Disclaimer: I HATE when they do "co-superlative"
  6. Worth every cent.. especially if you can't stand being around people.
  7. I think that people are assuming that any school just has the ability/budget to hire whoever they want. Just how big do you think the applicants list is at schools with bad traditions? It's not a coincidence that you don't see the Surratts of the coaching world applying to coach at schools that don't have a tradition of winning... and schools can only hire a person that's applied.
  8. There are always exceptions. I usually refer to the norm.
  9. The best player on the best team will likely get district MVP.
  10. Having a good player doesn’t constitute a program turning around. It just means they had a good player(s).
  11. How was 02-03? And if they had a good team in 07-08, then that’s not turned around. Then what happened 08-09?
  12. “Turned around”? I guess. And I thought he was at Kountze already in 07 or so.
  13. Bad teams don't usually have many with accolades.. because more times than not, if they truly had good players then they would've won more games.
  14. No.. I'm saying that someone's running back on a team that played 16 games is probably going to have more rushing yards and more rushing touchdowns that the running back on a team that only played 10/11/12. If it's about total stats for the year then teams with more playoff wins will have an advantage. And believe it or not.. even those teams have a best player.
  15. I just checked the stats of the 1st teamers (per maxpreps). Pendergrass had 3,200 yards and 40 touchdowns. The McGill kid had 2,557 rushing yards and 35 rushing touchdown. also had 382 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns. The other two kids were 16-0 and 14-2.. so they probably had better total stats. Maybe you're wrong.
  16. I don't know about embarrassing... surprising to not even be honorable mention All-State. But I wouldn't say embarrassing. What were the stats of the Anahuac kid?
  17. Has it ever been good other than a handful of 1-2 year(s) runs of decent players?
  18. Do you have the link? I'm not seeing it the tswa page.
  19. Nobody's expecting perfect. Just thrown some periods in there every once in a while... There's no need to seem ignorant when spellcheck can do the work for you. And it's *those. Rattle those gums.. not them.
  20. Sam Harrell is a friend of mine.. and arguably one of the most inspiring comeback stories in all of sports... and Alvarez took over a job with a recent history of success at that time.
  21. There has to be something going on here.. Even though Hardin has been terrible all year, they put up more of a showing than this. They were at least around 30 in every district game (according to maxpreps).
  22. I have no doubt in anything you've typed here. Do you honestly think that's unique to Carthage? Considering the number of coaches that travel the state over emulating exactly what all successful coaches do in order to bring to their program.. And considering the coaches that may have left Carthage after seeing what success looks like.. I know you don't believe that Carthage is the only school with great coaches down to JH, focuses on small details, and has that type of pride within the young kids in town. Surely you don't think that.
