If we can keep this thread on topic, it's an interesting discussion.  Foreman will have a successful season.  Dubois will do a great job of quickly turning HJ football program into a contender.  And I think Haynes will have the Raiders surprise a few people.  We should define what would be considered 'the best 2013 season'.  Should it be for the coach that improves the win/loss record the most over the previous season?  Can someone list the previous records for the programs we are discussing here?
With all that said.... nothing about Ozen and Keeath Magee ??? there is some talent over there also....
Just an oversight on my part.  Ozen/Magee are definitely in the discussion.  Ozen is in second place in votes on the site from the original post.  Here are the coaches/programs that were originally talked about:

    Toby Foreman, Central
    Keeath Magee, Ozen
    Dwayne DuBois, Hardin-Jefferson
    Larry Haynes, Lumberton

If there are other 1st year coaches to add to the list, add them.  Maybe some of you stats guys can add the previous records for these programs, but only if we are grading on improvement over last years win/loss record. We might only want to look at improvement in "District" win/loss records.

Dove, can you explain why you are so "conspicuously absent ( and very suddenly I might add) on the political viewpoints board?

I haven't seen the democrats this quiet since Clinton got caught with his pants down.  I say if you are going to be loud and proud, you need to be loud and proud all of the time.

Along the line of transfer talk, is it true that Brady B is going to be the basketball coach at Legacy.  If so, does that mean, Silsbee and Kountze stand to lose some players?
Too many lunatics escaped or  "transferred" to S.E.Texas. That may be the reason for the quiet storm

The only quiet that bothers me is that of the current administration.

Gall????? Fran, its been proven no matter what I say you get all bent out of shape... Is it because I am not a Silsbee fan? Is it because I go against the grain? Or is it because your jealous that you dont have my fortitude..... This was all ya'lls fault..... You questioned my fortitude..... I bet if I questioned Comeaux's fortitude, he would not respond to my like'en either..... Should I test it?

Not yet, but I hope to hear from them soon. Caleb has received the (2) offers mentioned above. Schools who have shown the most interests thus far in no particular order are: La Tech, Uni. Louisiana-Monroe, Southern Louisiana, Sam Houston St., Houston Baptist, San Angelo, [glow=red,2,300]North TX.[/glow] He also had Jr. Day visits to UTSA, Uni. Louisiana-Lafayette, and Lamar. Thanks for asking, Team Malveaux.

Good Luck to this young man ... no matter where he signs.... remember first and foremost Education is something no one can ever take away from you... [glow=blue,2,300]La Tech[/glow] is also a good choice... several past and current NFL players have started out there... including Terry Bradshaw, Fred Dean, and several others....

Jordan Braden may have had the most carries of any of their {Summer Creek} running backs last year but he was the third leading rusher on his team behind a third-string running back.Deunte Chatman is the real deal.Check out what he did in the spring game and you will see that he is a better back.If they have a open competition for running back at SC and show no favortism he would win the job hands down.He is bigger,6'1 faster 40 4.5 and stronger bench-presses almost 400 pounds
Is it possible that the coach honestly thinks that Chatman can help the TEAM more by starting at TE and LB rather than at RB.  I know that is not always what the parents want to hear but if the coaches only played kids where the parents or kids want, then they would never be able to field a complete team.  Besides most of the kids that are truly gifted, and it sounds like Chatman is, are going to play the position in college that the coaches there think he can help most with.  Or are we going to tell the college coaches where to play him also???  I say just let em play.  The cream always has a way of rising to the top.
And if that advice doesn't work then I would suggest the following:
While playing OLB, hit the RB so hard everyday until he decides he doesn't want to run the ball anymore.  If the coach asks why you are acting that way, tell him that it is your spot and this is the only way I know how to take it away from him.  The more deserving person will end up with the RB position, I promise.

We are 94 days away from the start of the Texas High School Football Season and today is.......

        National Hamburger Day
Today is National Hamburger Day! Nothing is more American than a big, juicy hamburger. Hamburgers and cheeseburgers have been a staple of the American diet for decades. In 2001, over 8.2 billion burgers were served in commercial restaurants in the United States. This number doesn't even take into account the number of burgers people eat at home, which is another 15 billion!

Although hamburgers originated in Hamburg, Germany, eating the burger in a bun is actually an American innovation. The hamburger sandwich was most likely invented in Seymour, Wisconsin. Each year the city hosts a hamburger festival called Burger Fest. That is where the world's largest hamburger made its debut in 2001. It weighed 8,266 pounds!
make sure yall burgers are real beef and not horsemeat.  ;)
:P.  ::)
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/news/horsemeat-burgers  ::)
I don't know what is more disturbing, the fact that there was horsemeat in the burgers or that they only were concerned because it was more than '1%'.
On a lighter note, the report states "There is no food safety issue."  That's true, unless you're a horse.  :)

BG, I am a Nederland homer, but the question addressed best programs across the big 3 sports...hard to argue against Nederland...just this past season, DC in football and baseball...regional finalists in football, 3 rounds deep in basketball, and the same in baseball...the year before saw another football DC, a basketball DC and a playoff baseball team...Nederland has had some outstanding success across other sports as well
It doesn't say the three big sports. It just said sports.
read it again sunshine...its the first post
That's right razor.  The original post said "over all 3 major team sports in SETX".  I'm not saying that Track is not impt and that soccer is not a fun sport, but if you live in SETX and you don't know that Football, Basketball and Baseball are the 3 major team sports, well then, you are on your own.  I can't help you.  We play soccer and run track to get faster for friday night football, period! :)

No way they make it this year. I think HF will be there.
Only time will tell but considering HJ beat HF last year and returns a lot while HF graduates a lot I'll go with HJ. Game could go either way though...I see the district like this:

    Silsbee
    WOS
    BC
    HJ
    OF
    Buna
    HF
HJ lost one of  their best player and coach. HF will have an experienced line and talented skilled positions. Should be fun.
Loosing Andy is big, but there are other athletes that can and will step up. There are alot of kids there that can play. You guys will see... Not commenting on the loss of the coach...
That would be a first! ::)
Atta boy HFTParty.  Don't let em get to you.  Stay strong. :)

You could have Rex Ryan be the new coach ..but no talent or lack of athletes and it doesn't matter who coaches lol
UTFan, you still never explained your post about 2A being a lot different than 4A.  Other than the obvious, enrollment, what is the big difference?
Depth.  Katy has 10 D1 players while some 2a schools may have 1.
Phatmack, I don't believe that is what UTFan was implying.  It sounded to me like UTFan was saying that it would be easier to win at 2A than at 4A which doesn't make sense.  Haynes has as much success if not more at the 4A and 5A levels than 2A.  Or is UTFan saying that it should be easier to win at 4A because he will have more players to choose from.  I'd really like to hear a response from UTFan.  I think it would be an interesting topic to debate.

I remember seeing Butch Hadnot at an HD track meet when I was a kid. His thighs were huge, built like a tree trunk, he out ran everybody. He was a beast, bigger and faster than everybody.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7lhZZX6eVTg

Here is a link to highlights from 1990 Cotton Bowl.  He's a true freshman doing that to the previously undefeated Cougars.  Announcers were drawing comparisons to Earl Campbell.  Saw Dronett, RIP, in the video as well.  McCoy from Bmt Central playing for the Cougars as a true freshman also in the video.  I forgot how bad I hated that UH siren.

Id also like to mention Jasper as a legit top team. I dont think they won any state title but their win lose record is strong. I remember all the Limbricks, Terrence Currington, and Shaun Horn days.
wasn't there a couple of Hadnot's from Jasper also?
Hadnot was Kirbyville.  Butch Hadnot went on to play at Texas.  Before Hadnot you have Dexter 'Thomas' I think.  Some of you remember how dominant Kirbyville was during those years.  I just remember those two guys.  Both unstoppable.

We are 98 days away from the start of the Texas High School Football Season and today is........

      National Wig Out Day
Have you ever wanted to dye your hair a different color or try out a new hairstyle, but were too scared to take the risk? Well, today is your opportunity to experiment. It’s National Wig Out Day! This celebration is similar to Halloween, but the focus is just on wigs.

Wig Out Day was invented in 2006 by Kate and Alice Clark. The sisters were able to inspire the residents of Bellingham, Washington to go to work wearing all different types of crazy wigs and then gather downtown at the end of the day for a party. Since then, Wig Out Day has grown and spread throughout the nation. So get out there you wiggers :)
Turtle Day and then Wig Out Day??  We have taken a big step backwards since Nilla Puddin Day.  IJS  But we're one day closer to football and that's exciting.
