  1. My guess would be that this is less about going to Kelly and more about leaving HJ. See, HJ plays TEAM basketball and sometimes the INDIVIDUAL spotlight is not as bright in true TEAM basketball. I don't see any other reason to make this move that would explain it any better.
  2. I'm probably not the only one who knows more than one Kelly parent who "invests" between 100K-1M/yr in different needy organizations for tax benefits. So this amount of money would not even be a drop in the bucket. Could one of these low-income, high-ability athletes qualify as a needy organization according to the IRS? I'm betting there are some pretty smart attorneys and former-auditors who could figure out how to legally make that happen. I'm not saying that is happening but let's not pretend that it would be science-fiction or anything.
  3. First off, if I'm going to quote mosshill, I should apologize for calling him an idiot in the Silsbee state championship thread. I was already pissed because Silsbee was losing and I felt like Mosshill was attacking AAW unjustly. AAW is a big boy and can take up for himself. It was not my business and I apologize for poking my nose where it didn't belong. Now, about the HD situation. We all tend to forget this at times. It is a game. And unfortunately for some, it is a numbers game that certain communities will lose at a majority of the time. But there are still many life lessons that can be learned while a program is struggling. As long as the coach is not giving up on the kids and is not teaching them to give up and be quitters, then I would leave the coach alone. I'm assuming of course that these coaches are not doing things that would get ANY employee fired/non-renewed. HD55, if you care about your school district and it's kids as much as I think you do, you should have gone about this a different way. You and others have now created an environment that is difficult for a coach to fight his way out of. The kids have to believe in their coach and be willing to fight for him. A few parents and HD supporters have poisoned these kids minds and are turning them against the person who is supposed to be teaching them important life lessons. It doesn't matter what offense is run or how many games they are winning right now. And about the kids in the parking lot, I can't speak to whether they should be on the field or not. If football is being coached hard, played hard and disciplined the right way, then it is certainly not going to be for everyone. Especially for soft kids with unsupportive parents.
  4. I think PNG's offense will be fine. I don't think we are giving enough credit to the pitching of Morales of GCM. He might not throw in the upper 80s but he is a crafty pitcher who does a good job of keeping batters off balance. Combine that with his batting and he might be the early MVP of 22-5A. JMO
  5. Here is a movie scene that directly parallels this golf challenge. Hint: BADSANTA is Jesse. At the 1:25 mark, watch Badsanta's reaction when he realizes he lost it all
  6. Might be more like Facebook friends meaning they don't know each other. And they probably played at a local fundraiser that was held at these campuses.
  7. Badsanta, you said you played basketball for Silsbee back in the day. By play, did you mean you were on the team or did you actually play significant minutes on the court? I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Silsbee probably hasn't seen many basketball legends who are also dominant golfers. But I could be wrong. You could be a hidden gem.
  8. I'll just agree with BigCam. I think they won 3 State Championships under 2 legendary coaches (Gamble & Boutte) his 4 years in high school. I always defer to the experts.
  9. Great run Silsbee! Play with a lot of heart to fight back from being down 17. Now you've got the experience. Go back and get that title next year.
  10. Adrenaline won't be as high for Lincoln in 3rd and 4th qtr. Fatigue hopefully sets in a little bit in 2nd half. Silsbee can climb back in this
  11. I knew this team was special when they put that whoopin on the #1 5A team even before they got the football players back. Sorry Soulja. Just had to throw that out there. but seriously, give em hell Tigers! Bring that state championship home to the 409.
  12. I like what Fedora said about losing 33 kids to grades over the first 2 years and only losing 2 the next 9 years. That is making a difference in kids' lives.
  13. I don't know Foster so I won't comment on his IQ. But I've read enough of your posts to say with 100% certainty, that you sir are an idiot.
  14. Mosshill, You're an idiot. You should quit while you're behind.
  15. Am I the only one who thinks that charges are called too frequently across the board these days?
  16. Aggie, I listened to the EC game and also to your last Silsbee game. Always impressed! If I can't watch the game, listening to your broadcasts are the next best thing. Great job!
  17. I see the point you are trying to make but who cares really? Are the 10 girls parents on 1st team mad that the 10 girls on 2nd team made it? It gives the kids something to get excited about so who am I to go raining on their parade. I'm happy for the girls who made it even though I don't know 90% of them.
  18. Good game by both teams. Brandon Young pitched a great game for the Raiders.
