Funny enough, I'm tagged in a picture on Facebook with coach Johnston and who I now realize is Darwin Barlow. Funny, had no idea that little kid would be such a major component of a state title run 4 years later.
 

Coaches in Florida would kill to make what even the lower-paid coaches in Texas make. If you include salary+stipend, the head coach where I'm at now probably makes somewhere between 45-50k. So in Florida, you have to teach (most head football coaches here aren't ADs, it doesn't pay like TX).
People on this board may not love what I say, but I believe this: the difference between TX and FL isn't athletes. That part is a wash. But the commitment TX has to pouring resources into athletic programs is what makes it stand out. St Thomas Aquinas, one of the best programs in the state, is 7A and plays in a stadium closer to what a 4A would play at in TX.
Anyways, to get back to my point. TX coaches have it easier on the pay front, probably a little more unreasonable level of pressure as well.

I'm not a small-town person at all lol but I love Newton, probably my favorite small town ever. People have been great to me up there. And coach Johnston, even through his sickness, always welcomed me with open arms up there (even when I wrote about him criticizing the Newton fans the last season they went to state).
I said that to say, congrats Eagles! Finish the job this time, I know yall can do it.

No one can tell me why the games aren't at DKR (outside of money). That whole requirement that the host stadium needs to have a roof is so bogus. The only teams that have access to domed games during the regular season on a regular basis are those Frisco ISD teams. I hate to sound like that guy but whatever, IT'S FOOTBALL. You should be able to play outside in the elements.
AT&T Stadium is nice don't get me wrong, but they should not have a monopoly on the state championship games.

I know it's no shock, but Newton has a trio of players that have received FBS offers in the last week or so. I love rooting for Newton bc they always treated me awesome when I went up there. And they (along with WOS) always kept football coverage going until December lol.
2019ers Tamauzia Brown and Darwin Barlow along with 2020er James Sylvester all received offers from Baylor recently. Brown and Barlow were also offered by Southern Miss. Brown also has prior offers from Lamar and Oklahoma State.
I'm always amazed at all the talent that comes out of that small town lol.

Regardless of Newton/Waskom and Boling/Lexington regional final winners, their Class 3A-Division II state semifinal will be at Texan Drive Stadium in Porter on Friday, Dec.15 at 7:30 p.m.

You know, there would have been a time I probably would have knocked you off the site.  But really, I think the worst thing I can do to you is to let you continue on and make a rear end of yourself....which may I say you are doing a wonderful job of.
Yes, it is obvious that you know nothing of me or you would know that the last 25 years of my life before this spring were spent in the Greater Houston area....Houston, Katy, Clear Lake and Baytown.  So I speak from experience when I tell you how Houstonians look at us.  And both black and white, it is looking down at us.
Now, believe me, I am no fan of just about anything the pakronos writes here.  And I can show you the posts where I have done the same thing to him that I am doing to you right now. But what YOU have managed to do is give one of his actions credence.  I recall when he wrote about the fact that he would be actively rooting against Vidor AND PN-G.  He mentioned that folks from those communities really wanted Memorial to lose.  By your posts, you have managed to prove that it wasn't one of his senseless rants but that there was some basis behind it.

You said karma played out last night. You obviously didn't say karma played out the last two weeks when PAM won. So what you are implying is that PAM got what was coming to them because the players didn't shake hands. I'm not sure if I'm reading that different from someone else in here, maybe a 3rd party can help me out and tell me.
Also, I'm not sure what misreporting you're speaking of. I see a column in the Vidorian which has a very editorial headlne of "No handshake exhibits no class". I don't know if the writer interviewed anyone from PAM or just went with his opinion. Conversely, I saw the Enterprise interviewed both coaches about it. So where exactly is the misreporting? And to say you can care less when you brought it up again is a contradiction. So what point did I miss?

Well, if you want to call coach Harrison and personally ask him for an apology/explanation, go ahead. Because no matter what you say, this clearly is still bothering you.
Anyways, you hijacked a game board that had nothing to do with that, so congratulations. You are the arbiter of what any and everyone else should determine is sportsmanlike and unsportsmanlike. PAM could have made a mistake but can you voice your displeasure and move on? Apparently not. So yes, karma got those bad ol mean ol coaches by only letting em win two playoff games instead of three. You constantly try to separate players and coaches with your sympathy. I've been coaching for the last 3 years and I'll tell you something, pretty hard to do that.
I don't even agree with Pak on a ton of stuff he says but to bring this up again unprovoked is ridiculous. But congrats, you get to dance around as the PAM players (AND coaches) are done today.
