Memorial isn't missing the playoffs
-
In the SETX area, I like West Brook and PA Memorial's unis the most. I wish their red jersey didn't have red numbers though (PAM), for reading sake. I like the digital camo on Belton's uni. I don't think it's fair to assume that a team with "fancier" uniforms isn't focused on winning. Some coaches want new, some coaches don't. Every uni can't look like they did 50 years ago. Nothing wrong with either way.

I will say, I saw his updated avatar on Twitter and boy, he has been living in the weight room. He has put on a lot of muscle. I'm pulling hard for him to do well this season and just rooting for PA Memorial in general.

Who hasn't offered him yet? lol

Ozen inks 10 to College Football Letters of Intent!

Signing day is just the start of the process, especially for smaller schools. I didn't sign with my school until sometime in April. Congrats to those kids! Getting to play college football, no matter where, is a huge honor and privilege. -
He tweeted earlier today that he received an offer from Lamar. Congrats to him. I hope it's the 1st of many more to come.

In my opinion (going off of this alignment and not next season's) 6A: The Butch 5A: The Reservation (PNG) 4A: Silsbee (and that Brookshire Brothers fried chicken in the press box) -Huffman Hargrave's is really nice as well 3A: Hardin (never covered a game there, but I went out there for a story and it's nice)

He tweeted about 45 minutes ago that he picked up his 2nd offer from Texas State
-
Cal is not a mid-tier offer. But anyways, congrats to Lil C on his 1st Power 5 offer!

How is Silsbee's off-season progressing?
dBerrySports replied to Pepper Brooks's topic in High School Football
Patrick Reed went D1 from Silsbee in 2014. Calvin already has 8 offers, colleges know what his talent is by now. I don't know why he chose to transfer but going to Silsbee will not hurt his recruiting at all. -
It was an honor to cover two MCMs, though I wish I could have seen one at the Reservation. I normally would get to a stadium around two hours before kickoff, but for MCM you gotta get there 2.5-3 hours before because of hectic parking, especially in Nederland. Plenty of tailgating, plenty of excitement in the air. Oh yeah, the games were good too. Both of the ones I covered went down to the last play of the game. Definitely a great rivalry.

Having been to Central practices on a few occasions, I can say that, at least the times I was there, they work hard. No circus-like atmosphere from what I've seen. Anyways, congrats to those kids on the offers! Coach Foreman does a great job at getting kids to play college football.

Last I saw on Twitter, H-J led Columbia 8-2 with about 23 minutes left in the game. -
If you're not faulting him for taking something, you are not faulting him for, as the rules are in the NCAA right now, breaking a rule. You have to take your opinion on whether it's right or wrong to pay college players out of this. That has absolutely nothing to do with it. If Tony knowingly took an impermissible benefit, then he broke a rule and will be punished. Whether or not he should be paid is irrelevant to this. There are rules in plenty different parts of life that you and I have to deal with that I'm sure we don't like and would like to change. But you can't break the rule and then pretend like it's okay because it's a bad rule. I'm neutral on kids getting paid, if it happens, cool. If not, okay. But the fact is, right NOW, it's not happening.

Class of 2017: Top 30 Southeast Texas Football Recruits
dBerrySports replied to hsforlife89's topic in High School Football
It also says top recruits for the area, not for the state or the country. So besides a few names that could be argued, I don't see how the list is very inaccurate. The 30th "best" (however you determine that) recruit in SETX usually won't have the same recruiting notice that the 30th best in D/FW, Houston, etc has. And being a top recruit is based on some skill or talent. Some HS players have done more at this level and may plateau in college, some didnt do as much in HS and are going off of potential, some are a combination. But to say it's not based off of talent or skill at all isn't accurate in my opinion. -
