Snapshot day (realignment)/CUT OFF NUMBERS RELEASED
dBerrySports replied to expirate20's topic in High School Football
It would be bad for Sam Houston and Milby (moreso Sam Houston) to get opted up to 6A. Sam Houston is just not very good, and staying in 6A would further continue that. They're not likely to be good in 5A, but could at least claim a bit more of a chance. HISD opted Chavez up last realignment, but not Westbury, even though Westbury had a higher enrollment. So Idk what their thinking is when it comes to that. They should just leave those schools where they are, but I highly doubt they do that. -
If PNG were to opt up to 5A D1 for this next round of realignment, I assume they'd be back in Region III, and if they are, they'd be sharing it with Randle (for sure) and Iowa Colony (maybe). Angleton and La Porte could move up depending on what the cutoff numbers are, but replacing them with Randle and IC would be just as tough, if not tougher. And you'd still have PA Memorial

Anyone know what the projected 5A D1/D2 cutoff will be?

Interesting if that happens, I wonder what the 5A D1/D2 cutoff would be. -

5A D1 Region 3 is gonna be insane! Randle PA Memorial Angleton La Porte Iowa Colony (maybe?) Fort Bend Hightower Manvel (maybe?) Even without the 2 Alvin ISD teams, that would be a crazy tough region. -

The enrollments were supposed to have been submitted by last Friday. Cutoff numbers will be released sometime before the state championship games. The official realignment is the first Wednesday in February. -
What Week 11 game(s) will you be attending?

Houston Wisdom vs. Houston Chavez (some of my old players have a chance to clinch a playoff berth for Wisdom, first one for the school since 1979!) and a few of my friends are still on staff. Saturday, we play Randle. So... yeah lol -
Strength of district doesn't have much to do with anything once you get to this point of the playoffs. Because for as weak as SOC's district is, they just handled a Huntsville team that: -Only lost to PNG by 3 -Beat Nederland, who beat PNG. Transitive property also doesn't have much to do with the outcome of the upcoming game, just wanted to prove a point. I think SOC wins a close one. But these teams know each other now. It's a playoff rivalry a la North Shore/Duncanville now since they seem to meet annually. Wish I could go to this game, but I don't feel like making that drive. So I'll watch the potential state championship game opponent for either team (Randle v Iowa Colony)

Looking at the map, Fort Bend Marshall and Stafford are nearby to Westbury to the SW, Willowridge to the south, Sharpstown to the NW, Bellaire to the north, Madison to the SE and Worthing to the east. That's without getting into the charters and privates that were mentioned, like Strake Jesuit, Episcopal, and Kinkaid. -

Yes, but he's also in a much, much, MUCH tougher district. -

Idk much about him. I will say, I watched Westbury play Pasadena Memorial last season, and they should have beaten Memorial by at least double digits, but I thought their offense was poorly schemed. They just kept running the ball up the middle when they had a better time getting to the perimeter. So they kept Memorial in the game, and eventually allowed a long run for TD, then a special teams TD, then a long pass, and lost the game. Westbury isn't totally devoid of talent, but I thought they could have been coached better. Take of that what you will. -

I don't understand how people are saying he bailed on Paetow because they're going to 6A when he's... going to another 6A school? I mean, maybe he did bail from Paetow because of how tough the district would be, any number of reasons. But strictly bc they're going to 6A doesn't make sense considering Pearland is also... 6A.
-
Way tougher to get into the playoffs in that district than when he was at Dobie, but a much much better chance at making a playoff run than when he was at Dobie. Good gamble for him in my opinion
-
I heard that they tried to pry him from Dobie the last time around, but the $ wasn't right. Guess it is this time lol.
