Refugio appeared on my map back when the great Willie Mack Garza starred there. Then, a month or so ago, I saw a feature on their team on HBO’s Real Sports. It was a story we are all too familiar with in some respects. A story in which over half the team lost their homes due to Hurricane Harvey. A story where those boys started sleeping on cots in a field house/weight room, along with their coach. The same coach spent every waking moment not at work volunteering rebuilding his kids’ homes. And then there was a kid on the team who suffered what was thought to be an injury that would leave him paralyzed for the rest of his life. Some months later, as he was wheeled through the run-thru by his teammates, he stood and walked to the sidelines despite his prognosis saying he never would. I tried to find a link to the amazing story but all I could find was this promo. If you have HBOgo, etc, it’s worth a watch. I hated seeing the Wolves go down tonight. But if it had to be to anyone, I am glad it was the Refugio Bobcats. Hope those boys finish the job now. [Hidden Content]

Going to be rough sledding until Jones is back. Easily the most consistent scorer on the roster.

Still was the last time I checked a year or so ago. I think second only behind Sabine Pass for local public schools. -

^ This Yeah but we only have KD. Couldn’t come up with a good analogy there Hopefully Bamba will be a perennial all star and we can use him next time -

That too. Hayden has length and athleticism to go along with his skill set. And you can’t coach or teach either of those. -

Colton was an undersized big. Hefner is a long guard who plays longer than his height and he’s still growing. If Colton were 6’10” or better, he could play in the langue imo. -

Agreed. And Hefner is a guard and Weisbrod is/was a post. Comparing them is pretty ludicrous to begin with. To put use an analogy with your Tigers, it’s like comparing Pistol Pete and Shaq. Pretty tough to do. -

Correct in both HF was obviously not the school I was referencing and that he would have been run off there. Heck, the parents were crying in Palestine when he was there about how he was too hard and overworking their boys. Maybe the best thing WOS has going for it is they have always let Cornel (and Dan Ray before him) do their job and been largely supportive of the way they do it. -

Tough to make a complete hypothetical “literal” lol. But in response to the point you were making, I can think of a school in SETX (not Newton) who has better talent for its classification than WOS does. Not saying they would “literally” have won state with Cornel because that is impossible to say. But they certainly would have been closer than they were imo. But overall, agree with the other points being made. -
Only going to get better. Have watched two of next year’s class play since jr high - Javonte Smart and Naz Reid are both big time players.

Lol - an aggy talking about winning it all. How cute!

To give you an idea, the best two players in this video for IMG (Simmons and Ayala) I have watched for the past 3 years on the UAA and the big man (#34) for Montverde played for same organization as Hefner. But the main reason I’m posting this video is the Asian LeBron kid playing for MV. Never seen him before but goodness gracious that kid can play! [Hidden Content] -
Stories about Texas and other in state schools
TxHoops replied to UTfanatic's topic in College Sports Forum
What Texas fans are excited about 6-6 and a bowl game. I’ve been to 3 Rose Bowls in the last 12 years, 2 for national championship games, 1 championship, and one regular ol’ BCS bowls that almost everyone has in the top 10 “Grandaddy of them all” ever played. Based on aggy’s higher expectation for success, surely you can top that? I mean, you guys have been to a Rose Bowl right? Oh yeah, for a regular season game in which the laughingstock of aggy football was on primetime display for all to giggle. But good luck with Jimbo and all -

Saw his little brother play for the first time last weekend. Looks like he may end up being bigger (height and size). And I was impressed. He’s definitely going to be a good one for the Dogs as well. -

I KNEW there was going to be comments about points (or lack thereof) in this thread by a certain poster. Because to the casual observer, that’s all they look at. Ironically, I woke up this morning and saw on my FB feed one of my friends from the Brook raving about Hefner. Last night was the first time he’d seen him play and was extremely impressed. On a night he had but 7 points. Why? Because he’s been around the game for over 40 years and realizes that scoring is only ONE of many facets to the game. And Mamba will tell you the same thing - often the best PLAYERS don’t score the most points... -

And boom goes the dynamite! (I’m out of likes by the way.) -
On another note, the tweet from last night that PhatMack19 posted from the President was classy and insightful. Which can only lead me to one conclusion, Ivanka had his phone Seriously though, maybe he’s turned over a new leaf? I have long argued he has been his own worst enemy, in large part due to Twitter. Maybe he’s coming to that realization. I’m hopeful, but also not holding my breath...

I know this is facetious but brings up an interesting point. Why on earth would someone stop their campaign the weekend before the election?
-
Leggett is now 79-0. Rupert told me. Seriously though, that is a big time win for a 1A school. Given what we’ve heard/seen going into tonight, I assume they have only one loss. Anyone know who that was to?
-
And I am officially done with exit polls. Reading some of the numbers earlier today, I didn’t give Jones much chance at all. Next time I read too much into those numbers, or especially Nate Silver, I give REB and/or Nash permission to slap me. I would say BSWildcats too but I’m afraid his smack would hurt too bad....
-
Jones should enjoy his partial term. Assuming the Bammers put up a half decent candidate when the regular election comes up, his stay in DC should be short.
-
Man I didn’t think he had a realistic shot. Actually, if true, I think that’s a bullet dodged by the Grand Ol’ Party.

Moore wins the special election tonight. GOP leaders already have meeting scheduleded tomorrow to figure out what to do with this albatross.
