If you’re a basketball junkie, you could end up in the ER.  I see why they call it a Marathon.  Well named, and well run.  And on a side note, only one Ref that needs to be drawn and quartered    Overall, the officiating I saw was well above average.

As for All-Tournament I was told #5 was selected by the opposing coaches and was asked to chose between two of my guys and I told the H-J Coaches I would rather not make that decision and told him he could have all tourney selections. This was on me not at all a slight by the HJ coaches. This was the best run tourney of my 30 year career. I would like to thank everyone involved.

On paper yes they should. This game looks to have been played AT Tarkington. A lot of times, the energy generated at a HOME gym has a positive effect on the home team, while impeding the visiting team. It also seems to affect less experienced refereeing crews are routinely biased by this influence depending on which side of the ball you're on (lol). Familiarity of opponent can be a factor as well. 
Would really need to see the box scores to know did normal players play normal minutes, was there foul trouble, did someone have to sit out, etc.? If I remember correctly.
I see Tarkington lost to VYPE current Top Ten team Hamshire Fannett 47-42 at H-F, VYPE current Top Ten school Bridge City 38-32 and 48-42, so what that means empirically to me is they play hard and must have competed in these games. So even though Woodville is a really good team with superior talent, every game against an unranked opponent isn't going to be a 100-29 cakewalk. To me a 13 point win on the road is a strong enough statement by itself.

IMO, Cleveland did more to lose the game than HJ did to win.
If Cleveland learns how to play with a lead, they will place in top four of their district and make playoffs. I see them finishing 4th behind PAM, BH and Ned.

They're going to be fun to watch. They can fly!

This is pretty rare at our school. 1st year varsity basketball player Jervondrick Simmons #35 will sign with Southern University to play basketball. Way to go! We here in Mustang are super proud of you and the hard work you put in over the summer.

Silsbee with 3 20 point + players and all three return.
Braelon Bush - 24.9 avg.
Jordyn Adams - 23.1 avg.
Devon McCain - 21.1 avg.
 
That's 69 points per game returning. Throw in Tyler's 6 points and Martin's 7 points, and that's 82 points returning for next season.
I'd say that makes Silsbee the favorite to win it all again.

BTW, that halftime score makes Evadale's effort very impressive.  And with two great Soph's and the Jr. 6'5" Linbacker at post, Shelbyville is certainly looking good next year.

Spoke to at least a half dozen “basketball guys” at the Delmar today, NONE of whom are affiliated with either school.  Most were at the game, two were veteran referees.   ALL agreed it was a bad call and most said it is a call you just can’t make regardless.  

1A Legget Pirates-These guys are tough and this little town loves their basketball   
2A Shelbyville Dragons—First trip since the early 80’s when Coach Schillings’ team won their 2nd State title
3A (EC and Kountze didn’t let us down but came up a bit short) Next year one will make it!
4A Silsbee Tigers—battle tested, peaking and ready to repeat
5A Port Aurthur Memorial  Titans   Is this the beginning of a revival in PA basketball?

Yes  shelbyville up 1 with 4 sec in reg. With ball Shelbyville player on throw in knocked down called for his 5th foul. Lapoynor makes 1st misses 2nd to force overtime 

The only thing I don’t know is what Courtney told his kids coming out of timeout.  For instance, LCM’s Jeffcoat has a foul to give against Diboll and had his kids use it expertly to leave Diboll only .1 seconds to try to get up a shot down 1 pt.  I’m sure if Courtney told them that option he said make sure he’s not shooting. But if a kid gets contacted and then makes an upward motion, it’s not expected they will get a shooting call violation.  That could literally happen on every foul (and some kids try it wisely and RARELY get that call).   We don’t have continuation fouls obv in HS.  
That’s what makes the call the most egregious to me.  Deciding a game on a call you have to struggle to even make in that situation.  Folks have justified it on this thread and I get it.  But it’s bush league and horse$&$$ and no ref worth his salt EVER makes that call.
