1. With the Horns loss to TCU tonight and Texas Tech's win,  Texas will finish last in the Big XII and miss the conference tournament.
 2.
Did any of ya'll watch the video??  He is smoking weed throughout the whole video.  Why is that not being mentioned?? The crazy part is he has not been arrested for position of a illegal substance... the proof is in the video.. That’s ok though... like his rap... he can serve my hamburgers with no pickles "for life", "for life", "for life"..... What an idiot!!!!
The problem is that you can not "prove" it was weed. I'm just glad the young man is not wasting some schools scholarship money for a semester.
 3.
Bernard Mulvaney Jr is the new Athletic Director. Seems like from reading his bio this is his first AD job. Seems like there should have been better options but hopefully the new blood will help kick start something.
A good Athletic Director does not need to have been a good coach. Al Richard was a heck of an AD at GCCISD. He had NO coaching experience (which most coaches did not like). It's about managing a department, people and a budget. So, I would not judge the new AD entirely on his coaching record.
 4. Teach young players a "drop" ball. Same action as a curve ball, but not as much stress on the arm.
 5. [Hidden Content] Texas recruiting coordinator Tommy Harmon couldn't sleep the night of Aug. 15. Just minutes before the midnight ET signing deadline, Harmon found out that the crown jewel of his sterling recruiting class—slugging outfielder Josh Bell—had signed for $5 million. The general sentiment in the industry was that Bell had been darn near unsignable. But he couldn't walk away from $5 million, and Texas found itself having to make due with the nation's premier group of incoming pitchers, but no marquee bat. "My dad always told me, 'Don't think about what could have been,' " Harmon said a month and a half later. "All of a sudden I find out about eight minutes until midnight that Bell's going to sign. I didn't think he was going to sign. My wife saw me up late and said, 'What's wrong with you? I've never seen you act like this before.' That was the weirdest day ever."
 6. IMO cost is not a factor unless you compare Private to Public universities ( [Hidden Content] ). It does not cost that much more to play at Sam Houston than it does to play at say Texas A & M. Based on the site I linked, it is cheaper at A & M. I think a lot of players are opting for the JUCO route because it gives them more options down the road as it relates to transferring or being drafted. The NCAA has addressed their transfer rules and changes will take place next year. (Student-athletes with a GPA of 3.0 or higher will be allowed to transfer without losing eligibility.) The draft, more than anyting, has killed schools like UT. Last year alone I believe they lost at least 4 BIG TIME recruits to the draft. Those are spots they had filled until the end of the MLB signing period. By then, most top recuits have signed with other schools. It's hard to compare a 60 to 70 % scholarship to a possible million dollar signing bonus. We all know who wins that battle.
 7.
At what age should a kid learn or start throwing a curve?
High school.
 8. For some reason teams in Texas can't hit a lick. Offensive numbers are way down. Why? Who knows. Like most things in athletics, it's cyclical. For now, it's just not happening.
 9. May 13th NCAA Team ERA Leaders Rank      Team                  ERA 1          Arkansas              1.87 2          Oregon St.            2.12 3          LSU                      2.38 4          Louisville              2.40 5          North Carolina    2.44 6          Texas                  2.46 7          Indiana                2.52 Guess which team could miss their conference tournament?
 10. From what I understood, the gala would not stop. It would be run by the Astros organization and not a non-profit organization led by the players wives. In January, Astros owner Jim Crane told the event’s organizer that the Astros would be taking over the gala. “Judy as discussed our foundation will handle the event this year,” Crane told Judy Nichols, who organized the event, in a Jan.25 email. “We will not need your services moving forward. We appreciate what you have done in the past. Meg Valliancourt (sic) is our new executive director of the Astros In Action Foundation and you can hand this off to her. Thanks Jim Crane.”[Hidden Content] Either way, it's a PR mess.

The Denny Boys need to beware of the College Station Curse. Not a good idea for a former and future Longhorn to play at Ice Cream Park. Still got the Eagles in 3. (The BH Eagles)
I bet they don't believe in that crap! too strong of men
Good goat!
 12. [Hidden Content] Wow! Not one Regional in Texas. Sad state of affairs.

 14. You will have to provide me with your definition of "athlete".
 15.

I am at a loss BG.  I am not trying to take anything away from the other schools in the district with this comment but, I don't buy it that other schools have better a pool of athletes.  There are athletes in Baytown.  For whatever reason, they get to high school and start getting left behind by the likes of PAM, NS, LP, WB, etc.  The only thing I can think of would be work ethic as being the difference. I know it is more than just having a good coach, but also the players and parents that have to make it a priority.  I heard a quote one time that said something like "the role of a coach is to get players to do what they don't want to do in order to become the player they've always dreamed of being."  I think it was Lombardi but am not sure.  We have some skill players but some think they just show up without putting in the time to train.  And how do you get the big boys out of the halls?  Maybe the moon and stars have to align just right for the right group of boys to come through that excels in spite of the poor work ethic or maybe it is finding "that" coach that is a lightning rod of change.
you partially right (in bold). there's athletes in Baytown, just not alot at RSS like other schools in 21-5A at the moment. DP doesnt have an abundance of athletes but they make up for it with their coaching staff.  ;)
Take Deer Park HS, divide it into 3 schools. Now let's see them make up for it with their coaching. Compare apple's to apple's.
 16.
What do you mean RSS doesn't have the numbers?  They are the 3rd largest school in the district.  I guess you mean they don't have the numbers participating?
Come to Sterling. Walk the halls. Show me the athletes. I am here every day. They are not here.
 17.
no, not saying that at all.  Excuses (like dirty butts) are easy come by.  It is hard enough to get the kids motivated.  Knowing the HC isn't going to be there is just another dirty butt excuse.  I, in know way know the answer.  But I do believe it is going to take the right coach or coach/system combination or even more accurate the right coach/system/class come together at the same time to get the culture changed.  It just seems to me that in 2 years, we went the wrong way.  If the HC is headed out, why not go ahead and start the process now? Maybe it has to do with contract term?  I really do not know.  Hell, maybe there is just so much apathy in the community that another year is just another year.
We just had a bond election in which 1,600 citizens of Baytown even voted (The bond passed). That's far less than 1% of the population! So, I would assume that there are even fewer Baytownians that are concerned with the RSS football program. As a former Ranger, I want RSS football to return to where it was in the 70's and early 80's. No matter who coaches the team, I just do not see that happening any time soon. It's a numbers game in 5A. RSS just does not have the numbers.
 18. So the reason Sterling is not winning is that the coach is planning on retiring and therefore is not interested in winning? Do you really believe that? If you compiled a list of reasons RSS is not winning, coaching is not on the list.
