This is my first time in a baseball playoff, so your saying they flip a coin to see if you play at home or a neutral site?
Yes. When in doubt, flip it out.

Dayton & Crosby Who wins?
Peppermint Patty replied to WordMan2's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Will Davenport pitch for Crosby? If so, I'll go with the Cougars. -
I wonder why Lumberton's home game is in Vidor? I guess our field is not up to spec?
Probably lost a flip and "Neutral" site won.

Did teams just pitch around Justin Twine this year?

ESPNU UT vs Baylor PNG's Stone / OF's Felts
Peppermint Patty replied to adminbaberuth's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Bears win 1-0 Stone gets the win going 6 innings, allowing 4 hits, and striking out 10. Felts was 3 for 3 with a 2B and a walk. Good showing for both players. Baylor swept the Horns this weekend. Texas really struggling at the plate. -

Inside the world of baseball recruiting.

One point not addressed was the ability of the university to change the amount (%) of the scholarship year to year, as well as withdraw the scholarship completely.
Pretty Sure the Article did:
And once that player is in his freshman year of college, the pressure does not ease. Scholarships are awarded on an annual basis, meaning that each season becomes an audition to get tuition money for the following year. Landry, who played at Texas Tech before coaching at Bridge City, said a mixture of grades, behavior and performance factor into whether a scholarship will be renewed, and be renewed at the same amount. "My roommate (at Tech) Shaun Larkin, who was an All-American, got his scholarship taken away going into his senior year and he transferred. He had no leverage, the school has all the leverage," Landry said.

Yes, I guess it did. I must have over-looked that part. My apologies. -

Nice article. One point not addressed was the ability of the university to change the amount (%) of the scholarship year to year, as well as withdraw the scholarship completely. In most cases your scholarship tends to go down the longer you are in school. In other words, they need the $$ for the new recruits. It's a cut-throat business. I highly recommend that any aspiring college athlete get their academic house in order. There is much more money available to you in that area. -
What are the tie breaker scenarios with these two teams? Isn't WB a game back?
Yes. RSS won the first game 11-1. WB would have to win to force a one game Play-in game. You should always want to play baseball on prom night. It usually means you're still in the hunt for a State Championship. You can dance and party any time.

Rangers. They have enough pitching to win what basically becomes a one game playoff.

You just can not pitch in spikes on the turtle mounds. In that case, any "flats" will work. Baseball Express has several styles of baseball "flats".

With the field play turf, I do not think turf shoes are useful. Probably the opposite.

Met them at a UIL Accounting contest. Not shocked at all with them going to Rice. Congrats to all involved. Two fine young men.

Texas A&M Aggie Baseball 2013(22-22, 7-13)
Peppermint Patty replied to PhatMack19's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Ags lose in 11 last night to Sam Houston. Sam Houston playing pretty well of late. Rice may be ranked, but they are way down from previous years. They just do not have the front line pitching. It will be interesting to see how much longer Graham stays on board. The guy at Sam will probably be next in line. Baseball in the state in general is down this year. With so many programs, I think the talent is being spread too thin. -
Final Ball. 3 GCM. 2 GCM falls into 2nd place and has lost 2 of their last 3 games.

are sub-.500 teams watering down the playoffs?
Peppermint Patty replied to Octfeb's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads

I personally like having 4 teams from a district make the playoffs. I like that they get to experience the playoff environment and get to match up with a really good team from another district. Seeing a smaller school barely get in the playoffs and then have the opportunity to upset a really good team in the first round is brings some extra excitement to that program. BUT, I don't think you should get in with a sub-.500 record. IMO, if a district only had 3 teams with a winning record, then you should just give the #1 seed from the neighboring district a first round bye. Just a thought.
Ok. Let's say that you have a 5 team district, and the district champion wins every district game but lost every preseason game. That would make you 4-6 and the district champion. So that team doesn't deserve to get in because they are sub-500? It is possible for that to happen you know
Then this sub .500 team would not be excluded because they are the District Champion. For the most part, this example is the exception and not the norm. I like the top 2 teams in each district advancing.
