are sub-.500 teams watering down the playoffs?

I personally like having 4 teams from a district make the playoffs. I like that they get to experience the playoff environment and get to match up with a really good team from another district. Seeing a smaller school barely get in the playoffs and then have the opportunity to upset a really good team in the first round is brings some extra excitement to that program. BUT, I don't think you should get in with a sub-.500 record. IMO, if a district only had 3 teams with a winning record, then you should just give the #1 seed from the neighboring district a first round bye. Just a thought.
Ok. Let's say that you have a 5 team district, and the district champion wins every district game but lost every preseason game. That would make you 4-6 and the district champion. So that team doesn't deserve to get in because they are sub-500? It is possible for that to happen you know
Then this sub .500 team would not be excluded because they are the District Champion. For the most part, this example is the exception and not the norm. I like the top 2 teams in each district advancing. -

Maybe, but at least they feel better about themselves. Isn't that what athletics is about? Feeling good. -
They flip a coin to determine who gets to call the toss......... think about it........... wait.......... yeah
That's what I was thinking, but who calls that one? I could not remember.

Coin flip in the early rounds if coaches can not agree. State Tournament is single game. [Hidden Content]

Looks like Adidas rules the hardwood. Wonder what Phil Knight thinks about his company being shut out of the National Championship game tonight? -
Ricky Salinas (P)- Northshore should be a good one also I know that basically its the coaches vote on a kid that gives him the opportunity to make an all district award but does anyone know what exactly a kid has to accomplish to be considered ?
There is no "measuring stick" for AD selections. It is simply a nomination and a vote. Most votes wins. Scorekeeping is such a subjective endeavor in high school baseball, you can not go by the "stats" provided. (Think Little League "inside the park homerun", but not quite as bad.) Until the UIL requires an official scorekeeper, that's the way it's going to be.
