Junior Lofton goes for 42 & 14 a day or two after signing a 4 year/$7m deal with Memphis.  Memphis had to sign him to a regular contract (instead of the 2 way/g league deal) in order to be able to use him for the playoffs (and Steven Adams is out for the year). The Griz only played 6 guys, but I still have to wonder if he got that opportunity before they signed him to the deal, how that would have affected his contract.  Gotta think it would be at least double.  Still, huge day for Junior and a great opportunity for him going forward.

Sometimes you need games like that. . If BU doesn’t go 3-22 or w.e behind the 3 it probably isn’t that close. . At the end of the day you gotta find a way to win

He’s got a confidence his teammates should feed off of, i watched their body language, I was worried. They stepped to the line, them the ball and the goal. No Knight between them. Their faces told the uncertainty. They started folding.
#23 made all those uncertainties go away. He literally carried his team to victory. The things he did during the game was all necessary to nullify Kimball’s certainty. They knew they had the game. Our players faces other than Arceneaux gave them that much more confidence that they had it. I was convinced. But, I didn’t notice the Wolfpack leader. Kimball didn’t notice. When he appeared it was too late. The game was tied. The wolves were happy their leader had come through. He repeated this again 4 mins later. Only this time the entire Wolfpack including me. Was jumping for joy. It was and amazing feat. GAMEOVER, he waved by by to his foes.
that dunk over Kimball’s big man was a stage setter to what was yet to come. He did it to their Big. Then in the end, he did it to them all. He fed his pack.
United lose without #23 on this night.

I've been following basketball, high school basketball, Silsbee basketball for at least 55 years.  I have yet to see a coach, even some considered 'a good coach' (for some that's a euphemism for deeper & uglier issues) take a team lacking in talent to anywhere significant.  Good coaches and teams with lots of talent generally gravitate together, like beans and rice, BBQ & potatoe salad.  It just works that way. Would to goodness  basketball forums and people who post to basketball forums who actually know basketball worked that way, but that is not always the case.  Enough of that.
I've seen or heard of a lot of good Silsbee coaches: Dan Montgomery, Fred Williams, Travis Williams, coach Green, Sigler.  They were all good coaches IMO. Coach Sigler won two state championships.  Is he the best coach of them all?  Maybe, maybe not.  As someone posted his record speaks for itself.
Also I've experienced Silsbee basketball teams being on the short end of some hard defeats and downright blowouts.  They got blown out by FB Bush in the FB tournament. Madison blew them off the court in a playoff warm up game.  Some big school beat em bad in the SA tournament.  Wagner did it too.  It BEs that way from time to time.  Sometimes you have the shotgun, other times you're dodging the pellets, figuratively speaking.
I drove out to Humble/Atascosita and watched HJ play Yates in a playoff game a few years ago.  'Good coaching' lasted about a half a quarter.  After that I couldn't hear myself think.  The Yates fans were making too much noise.  Stuff like that happens in hs basketball, or any basketball.
There's an often quoted bible verse that is really not a bible verse: This too shall pass.

Agreed... I dont think She has a clue to what the post means....... I think that Lamar is one of the REAL offers he could make a positive impact at. Recruiters are looking for tools.. Size, Height, speed, vertical, shuttle, etc. If a kid has all the tools, they feel they can train him to be a player.. As in the Tony Brown case. He has all the tools to be a stud. He just needs the coaching and experience to turn into a Beast. Thats the prime reason you see the CAMP kids that get offers from nowhere. Because tool wise, they have them. In High School. HEART. can get you on the All State team. But in college it will not. You might see a legit 4.5 guy in High school 5 or 6 times a year. Linebackers run 4.5 in college. Its a sped up version, and only the athletes with the tools have the capability of succeeding. Now dont get me wrong, there might be a few that get by, but the majority is a certain TYPE of Athlete. And it is definately dog eat dog.. At the lower levels, you will see the athletes with less of a tool level recruited. I see Lamar as a program that has the capability to compete in the conference. I have watched a few of their games and I think a kid Like AM can succeed at that level with more experience and coaching. As I stated before, I would never knock a kid for getting a education.  And honestly I have not seen any post on this subject that is knocking him. Sometimes keeping it real hurts peoples feelings. But Im pretty sure thats all part of this thing that we call LIFE. As I stated before, I think if AM has a good senior season, he can establish himself as a top 10 QB in PN-G history..... But at the end of the day you cannot teach, size, speed, etc..... I think LAMAR is a perfect fit..............

I wasn't all that impressed with Anthony Boutte when he was at Memorial.  You can throw out freshman basketball win/loss records all you want, but I think a broomstick could win at the under levels with the cats in PA and Desoto.  Seems to me that his daddy's name got him a couple of jobs and the entitlement from that may have caused some friction with the head coaches there.  Also, why do you think it's so important to coach out of the area?  They got this new thing called television where you can like watch games and pause and rewind them to look at what other teams do.  I'm also hearing about this internet deal where you can actually get film and tape and listen to other coaches talk.  Oh and there are these things called clinics too.  Maybe one day we'll have all that in Southeast Texas.  You're a good friend to your buddy I think, but ain't nobody buying what you're selling, partner.
