  1. I'll bet you the kid hasn't been hit in the entirety of his high school football career. To assume he is "plug and play" is a bad assumption. I will continue to state for clarity.....I hope you are right.
  2. Anybody wearing pads this summer? Anybody hitting the kid this summer?
  3. Killing it at Legacy and in 7 on 7 doesn't quite prove his ability to play at a high level vs WOS. Like I have already stated, I hope he does great. Truth is, he has never seen the type of game speed he will see in a few weeks. If it takes him a while to adjust, it will hurt Silsbee significantly.
  4. Alright, I'm done arguing with you for the day! haha Mackey will love Evadale and have all the competition he needs because he might get to play Canadian, and Silsbee won't miss a beat because they have an unproven D1 QB that was recruited....err....chose to move from Beaumont Legacy. I am officially out on this topic.
  5. D1 offers does not = a D1 QB. I will be very interested to see Jones compete against a higher level of competition than he saw at Legacy. I hope he is fantastic, but I am a bit concerned about how he will translate to big boy football. We shall see.
  6. D1 QB? That's questionable. I'd like to see him play against real competition before giving him that distinction.
  7. Talking about it and living it are two different things. It is my opinion that he will regret this decision.
  8. Comparing Mackey's move to Evadale to Tyler's move to Silsbee is a big reach. The step down in competition and exposure for Mackey is much greater than the one Tyler took.
  9. We're saying the same things. I'm saying he IS a competitor, which is why he won't get the same satisfaction competing against Sabine Pass rather than WOS. He's going to have to play a lot of games before he gets a taste of anything nearly like Canadian.
  10. If he is a competitor, he should want to compete against the best. Running past 2A cornerbacks will get old quickly.
  11. Obviously some hurt feelings with the coaching change and subsequent coaching changes. Mackey will probably regret this decision at some point. There will be a Friday night when he's suiting to play the mighty Sabine Pass Sharks, while his Silsbee teammates are matching up with WOS, and he will feel the sting of a really bad decision.
  12. Is his dad coaching at Evadale or is he still at Silsbee?
  13. Memorial will run away with this district. I guarantee it.
  14. Worst concept ever. Leave the midnight practices to the "thump thump" boys.
  15. That blue though. Can you guys adjust that....maybe make it a bit darker?
  16. Who is "dey"? I haven't identified him yet.
  17. THAT IT'S FINALLY MOTHA BLANKING FOOTBALL SEASON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. Everyone wants to be a winner. Win win win and they will come out.
  19. It all comes down to cash. Long ago (pre children) I decided I was going to make some extra money by refereeing basketball games in the triangle. I attended some meetings, paid dues, bought gear, and got started. I refereed one summer league warm up tournament and quickly decided the headache wasn't worth the measly money they were paying. The parents, players, and coaches were unbelievably hard to deal with, but not as hard to deal with as the other referees. This was set up to be a training ground for new refs, so they paired us with other more experienced officials to help us learn. I was paired up with a guy who was a state trooper for a living, but had carved out a pretty good reputation as an official in SETX. This guy was unbearable. He had no interest in teaching, rather his agenda was for me to realize he was a better official than I would ever be. I have pretty thick skin, but I left that night and made the decision that I would never do that again. So to summarize, I was going to be paid peanuts to deal with screaming parents, kids, coaches and officials. No thanks. They need to up the pay, and ensure that those who might be interested are not treated as freshmen trying to join a fraternity. It's up to the UIL to figure out the money issue, and TASO to figure out the assimilation issue.
  20. Somebody get this guy an official email address. I'm looking at you Deweyville.
  21. Best of luck to you and your son, whatever position he ends up playing.
