  1. The point was not to knock the Acadiana players or program, but rather to point out that the comment about coaching is ridiculous.
  2. If he is tackled, that assumes he is trying to return the ball. To get the touchback, he would have had to gain possession of the ball and kneel down to signify he is purposely giving up the ability to return the ball. If he's able to be tackled, then he was still trying to advance the football.
  3. Dubois should kick the kid off of the team (if he hasn't already) then dare the board to reinstate him. If the board wants to accept the behavior, then let them take the heat. Until then, Dubois is responsible if that kid ever steps foot on the field again.
  4. I have never known a football coach to not have the final authority regarding whether or not athletes are allowed to be on the team. The board may decide the length of the school suspension, but I'd be shocked if Dubois doesn't have the power to remove the kid from the team.
  5. If they only get two games then I will lose every ounce of respect I have ever had for Coach Dubois.
  6. Those guys at the BE!!?? I couldn't believe that Danny Shapiro retweeted the picture out to all of his followers last night. He never once thought that a young man's face was on that picture, he just tweeted it out to get his 2 cents in. I wouldn't be surprised if this thing ends up on much more than the local news.
  7. I have run completely out of likes on this thread.
  8. Just a quick look through twitter, and I am pretty sure I have found the offender. If that is him, let me say this: That young man wants none of the problems that could potentially be coming his way. He would be wise to consider laying low for a long while.
  9. Exactly. He needs to learn that the consequence are grave for those actions. Losing HS football will sear into his mind the regrettable consequences of this action and will (hopefully) ensure he doesn't suffer greater consequences later in life. ie: losing a job that provides food and shelter for his family Hold his hand and care for him because he's a "teenager in school" and he will undoubtedly repeat offend.
  10. If I sent that tweet out to my coworkers, I'm out of a job. Teach him this lesson now by removing him from the team before it costs him much more later in life.
  11. Which is exactly why the offenders should be removed from the team. These other kids shouldn't have to bear the burden of carrying those guys on their team. Do they think this will be over after WOS is gone? Heck no! Every team that plays BC will remember the use of that word and will paint the entire team with the same brush. Nevermind that it is almost a certainty that the kids names are out in the town. It's almost unsafe to allow them onto a football field. Dubois needs to do the right thing and send a message. Dubois will either tolerate the behavior for the sake of winning football games, or he will not. If the kids play, it will be seen by many as toleration.
  12. I understand that kids make mistakes, but this is bigger than that. Whichever player/players are responsible should be removed from the BC football team and never allowed to play again. Furthermore, they should be driven by Coach Dubois to make a formal, in person, apology to the player that was portrayed in the meme. No one will ever be able to remove the amount of shame and hurt that was brought against the young man by the meme that was tweeted, and it should cost those responsible their opportunity to be a part of the Bridge City Football program. I cannot imagine that they can continue on with students like that in their organization. I am all for second chances, but sometimes hard life lessons need to be taught and this is one of those times. Things like this have cost people their lives. These kids need to learn that having that type of hate in your heart can cost you a lot more than football.
  13. I am taking BH to pull off the upset. Crosby will be overconfident and Westerberg will win the coaching duel.
  14. These are surely big time offers!!! Congratulations young man!
  15. Man, you are sensitive. I thought you'd appreciate being called the principal. The implication of perceived power seems to be something that would row your boat.
  16. The principal is always lurking ready to smash anything that he deems out of line.
  17. I've been saying it. BH will be near the top of that district.
  18. Florida has no where near the overall quality and depth of Texas. They might produce a better individual team occasionally, but to say they have the same type of football there that we do here is heresy!
