  1. This sounds kinda cheezy, but actually happened .  My wife and I and our 4 year old son was at a game at the Reservation and our son would not let the Indian Spirit out of his site.  He stood there and mimicked his every move! Of course, we loved it, being PNG fans.  On the way home from that game, our little boy told us he was going to be the Indian Spirit. We said, sure you are son, half-heartedly.  Sure enough, 13 yrs later, he was elected the Indian Spirit for PNG 2004-2005. When the first game was over as Indian Spirit, he called his mother and me down to the track and told us, remember, when I was little, I told you I would be the Indian Spirit.....he said, never let go of a dream....man! that hit home.  Now, I see all these kids, wanting the same thing, involved in PNG seeking their own dreams, but continuing to be shrouded by the teepee of  HONOR, PRIDE, TRADITION!  These kids will continue with the GREAT spirit of PNG in the new stadium for years to come!

    Scalp 'em, Indians, Scalp 'em!

  2. On the contrary, I was at the LCM game last year, but PNG Fans stayed until the end of the game, Good or Bad. Those kind of games could happen on any given Friday Night. We Support Our Team no mather what the outcome of the game is. HONOR, PRIDE,TRADITION. Win or lose, We will applaud our team from the stands for their effort!

Excellent post!  And, like you said, anything can happen on any given night in high school football.

    PNG 21

    Dayton 17

Scalp 'em, Indians, Scalp 'em !

  3. There are three top schools in Texas in regard to school spirit and tradition...

    Plano, Odessa Permian, and PNG.

Everyone else is looking up to them.

    Although...

    Last year...

The Lumberton student section was just AWEsome despite being destroyed in the Dayton game.  I tried to get to the Lumberton side this year, but the officials wanted me to stay on the Dayton side.  The kids at Lumberton were very very supportive of their team.  For Lumberton to win this week, it would just be huge, not only for the high school students, but to the whole commnunity.  Lumberton had one of the largest crowds last year at Dayton (a little less than Nederland).  Looking at video from the PN-G game they had the Reservation visiting section packed (about 5,500).  However...

If Dayton, PN-G, and Lumberton all make it three rounds deep in the playoffs...

There is no question to which team will have the largest following.

PN-G is the ONLY school in this part of the state that can put over 20,000 into the stands for a playoff game.

You're exactly right!  I have NEVER seen the fans that PNG has at any other Texas high school.......whether they are winning or losing, the fans are there supporting their team.  HONOR, PRIDE, TRADITION....thats the hallmark of a true PNG fan!  Scalp 'em, Indians, Scalp 'em!

  4. For the record.....here is what I really think about Dayton.

    1. They are a very good football team.

    2. It will take a perfect game by us to beat them at home.

    3. I really just want to see us make it out healthy and not broken mentally. To me, this is a pride game and the real season starts next week.

    4. If I was coming to the game I would love to bring you guys a cookie and trade it off for a couple of turkey legs. Plus, I would not mind meeting other posters like I had the chance to do at the flag football game.

    5. I hope you guys are not in our district next year and maybe we will only have to see yall if the playoffs are made and the draw happens that way. Really, it does not make any sense for you guys to have to play over here instead of your own local teams.

    6. Good luck to yall Friday and hopefully both teams walk away healthy.

    7. I did not want to get into all the trash talking and I am keeping quiet until after the game.

I agree wholeheartedly...Best of Luck to both teams, hopefully injury free.

  5. Alternate route for PN-G fans...

Traffic may be unbearable on HWY 90 coming into Dayton.

    You could....

From Groves go down HWY 73, go down I-10 then come into Dayton on HWY 146.

There is a pretty large parking lot at the junior high which is within walking distance of the stadium.

The junior high is on the right as you pass the Entergy substation, it is on HWY 146 so you would miss all the traffic.

BOY I CAN'T WAIT TILL FRIDAY!

Will be an AWEsome game at Dayton stadium.

Hey Purple4Ever.....a serious question.  How early do you think PNG fans should get to the stadium to find adequate parking?  It sounds like coming down I-10 would be a better and easier route, correct?  Hey buddy, thanks for the info....you've been a big help.

  7. You have the option, as a season ticket holder, to buy just the home games, or the home games and all of the away games as well.  I have tickets for the home and away games.

In all due respect, I honestly have NEVER seen as many fans at the away games as there are at the home games.  PNG fans, old, young and in between follow their INDIANS!  I remember many, many, many times....whether we are winning or losing, the convoy of PNG fans going to away games is unreal!  No kidding aside, PNG WILL fill that stadium, you can count on it!  Cherokee will be played over and over again.....WE NEVER LOSE FAITH IN OUR YOUNG MEN!  Just something about the sound of those war drums, all the purple and white headdresses, the kids, fans, team, coaches, everyone.  HONOR, PRIDE, TRADITION.....thats PNG, and for all the naysayers, PNG is for real!
