  1. The excitement for MidCounty Madness was BIG, however, I think the excitement and intensity for this game almost rivals it.  I could not talk Saturday morning after the MCM, I can just imagine what this Saturday morning will be like.  Cruising off the excitement of last week, which has increased and pumped everybody for this week....wow!  The INDIANS are on a warpath....get ready Lumberton....you're playin with the big boys now!

  2. Sorry to hear about his cancer.  My prayers are with you and your family TH.  I still stand by what I say as well.  He ALWAYS finds a way to put down PNG...I don't understand his strong dislike of them.  I don't think he's a good sportswriter when you take joy in putting down these high school players in print, so that everyone can read it and question their abilities.  Its ok to give stats and such, however, when you start using discrediting adjectives in your stories about these athletes, its time to stop writing.  I know a lot of PNG and Nederland fans come together after MCM and support the MidCounty teams....just seems like TH can and will NEVER say anything good about PNG, IMO.

  3. AKIFAN tell me who have yall Beat?? Ned is your only respectable win and as you said play them again and I am not sure you beat them a second time. As far as seeing teams with our speed you are correct you have and all those beat your little Injuns. I have seen the Ned game and Yall beat them but come on to say Hemmings is any more than a big slow Powerful back is untrue. We will respect him but he doesnt scare us I expect him to play a good game but would be shocked if got 100 yards. I do think that yall are a good team maybe good enough to finish second in District if you can beat Dayton and Central. Good Luck to all the local teams

Thank you, Maverick....we appreciate you guys in Lumberton feeling this way.  Looks like more than your "train" engine is puffing smoke...lol!  Get ready, the "L -ittle Lumberton Tain" will DE-rail with the mighty Indian, DE-fense at the Reservation this Friday! I do think it will be a close game, but playing at the Reservation and the NDN defense will be the difference in the game.  Just feel like it will be too much for the Raiders. I feel it will be a close game, hopefully injury free for both teams.

  4. I know that PNG respects Lumberton, and we are definitely proud of your football program and the great gains you have made, this is honestly a true statement.  Also, Lumberton would represent the district well.  I know this is going to be a strong defensive battle Friday night and I feel the score will be very close.  The momentum and the spirit of the Indians this year, the way they have come together as a single unit, reminds me of the PNG of the 70's, playoffs, State Champs, honor, pride, tradition.  Everyone, basically, counted PNG out after our preseason losses, but now, all the doubters are singing a different tune.  PNG has been in this spot many times, enduring the joys of winning and the heartbreak of losing.  We can sit back and smash each other, or, realize that it will be settled on the field Friday night.  In this district, anything can happen on any given Friday night on the field.  We welcome you to The Reservation and I hope and pray for an injury free game!  Good Luck to both teams!

  5. Lumberton comes into this game battle tested.  It may really be a test of PNG.  Lumberton has already beat two quality teams in Central and Dayton.  Say what you want about the records of their opponents.  PNG has beaten a weak silsbee, a weak Vidor, and a weak Ozen(not very convincingly either) and they have 1 quality win against Nederland.  PNG gets to show everyone this week if they are for real.  Beat Lumberton and PNG will prove they are for real.

PNG has not played Vidor yet.  I think PNG will come out with the WIN.  1) Don't think Lumberton can stand against PNG's defense.  2)Hemmings is a beast that will be hard to stop. 3) The game is at the Reservation...PNG is already PUMPED and will be ready for this game with a house full of INDIAN fans to give them support.

  6. I think Neumann has the right perspective:

"Offensively, PN-G can do both things well," said Neumann. "They (the Indians) try to base things on a grind-it-out running game, but they can take their shots passing the ball. Harrison Tatum is an excellent thrower, and he has some good receivers.

"Defensively, they're as sound as a silver dollar. Up front, they have two excellent ends in Burnett and Schexnider, and they're strong in the secondary and they get support from their linebackers. They make you be good to move the ball on them."

Scalp 'em, Indians, Scalp 'em  !

  8. There is a lot of coverage for the MidCounty teams.....we need a sports writer that is "neutral" and gives credit when credit is due.  Halliburton has always been negative about PNG. I even have Ned friends that are emabarrassed when he writes stories about Nederland because he is so "partial" to Nederland and tends to embellish his articles about the Bulldogs.  Thats all I'm saying, and if the shoe was on the other foot, I'm sure a lot of Nederland fans would feel the same way.  Fact is, Nederland and PNG are both excellent football teams with a lot of pride and both will play their hearts out this Friday night.  I think its sad that a grown "man" will be so negative about a high school football team when he knows the players and thier families read the articles.  Maybe its a strategy of his...who knows.  I just don't read his articles anymore....not worth the time.  Best of luck to both Nederland and PNG....!

  9. Typical Tom Haliburton.....EVERYONE knows he is partial to Nederland, and so what?  When I see his articles in the newspaper, I usually just throw it in the trash......Nederland know what they are up against and so does PNG.  One thing I like about this week, is that both teams respect each other and know that the other will be playing their hearts out.  TH needs to retire .....my trash can doesnt need to give a home to his lameless stories anymore!
