I heard yesterday that the potential starting QB Chase Shugart has decided not to play football this season and focus on Baseball. Hearing that Byron Trahan the in coming freshman will be up for the job. He is a very good athlete.
Not putting the young man down - I don't even know him - but, doesn't "In coming freshman" speak volumes.  So he has Pee Wee experience and on up thru the 8th grade experience?  If a program is forced to put their field generalship in the hands of an incoming freshman then that program is in trouble no matter how good an athlete the in coming freshman is.  And, the experience of that potential disaster could ruin a
potentially great athlete for the rest of his
career. Just a realistic observation. :(
or make him drive harder to make the program be better... if he can come in and pull off a win or two or more he will be better for it... sometimes adversity makes a person strive to change it... if he is an athlete... I think he would look adversity in the face and kick dirt at it... :-D
Very poetic, Coach.  Not all athletes are able to kick dirt in the face of adversity (No. 57 in your program).  Take any given Superbowl game.  There will be a winner and there will be a loser.  The loser faced adversity and didn't/couldn't overcome it.  So was it that they didn't have any athletes that could kick dirt or was it that the winning team had more dirt kicking athletes than the losing team.  As I mentioned, I don't know the young man.  I'm certain that he is an
outstanding athlete and I wish him well in his career.  I'm just saying that if I'm the head coach I'm very, VERY, reluctant to hand the starting QB position to a 14 year old.  He's probably going to be my QB next year, the
next year, and the year after that.  But I'm not throwing him into the swamp as a freshman.  But, he may also be mature beyond his years.  You just have to be there, I guess :-\

WOW! Who's brilliant idea was this to create a Southeast Texas all-star game for the player's who didn't make the TABC's roster? There are already too many "empty" awards being created/issued out to player's just for the sake of keeping some former coach or AD's names relevant and now this. If the sole purpose of this is to generate scholly funds or one more opportunity for the unsigned to be seen then kudo's but if neither of those two intentions come to fruition exactly what was the purpose for creating this?
There will be four scholarships awarded for the basketball games.
Further description of the 4 scholarships is in order, such as amount of each, duration as in
one-time or repetitive, etc.  I don't see this all star game generating a whole big amount of revenue net of expenses. ???

Unless you gonna strap up some pads and get revenge DemDawgs shut up and quit crying about your loss to a better team that is GTown, you're making your school, the program and the fanbase look bad from what im hearing from actual REAL SC fans.  ;)
That's not true. 1st of all, this is a entertainment forum, so only so many people takes it serious. 2nd, how can 1 person make everybody else look bad? That person is entitled to its own opinion, and its a free world to speak. 3rd, if someone told you something from SC, that doesn't mean you go back and repeat.... :)
But in this case you are the one person that is the exception to the rule. ;D

I consider myself more of a baseball guy and even I think this is a ridiculous post.  If you don't think baseball is or can be year-round, you are mistaken.  The only thing that keeps baseball from being played year-round is the weather.

Finally, if the reason to support your kids in playing sports is for scholarship opportunities or to have their college education paid for, save your money on any year-round sports and set up a college fund.  Do the math, a college basketball team may have 15 players and a college baseball team may have around 30 to 40.  Both of those sports have about 12 scholarships per team to distribute.  In the case of baseball, those 12 scholarships are often divided between 20-30 players.  Factor in the odds of getting a scholarship to play sports with distribution and your logic completely falls apart.
Can you give us a short list, say 3 or 4 schools
(colleges/universities) that carry 30 or 40 players on their
baseball teams?  Me thinks that is an exaggeration, Sir. ::)

HF does not pay worth a crap.  Hard to keep good coaches if you can't compete with other schools concerning salary.
True! These teachers are starving, especially in HF. Im sure the cost of living isn't too high there, but the people who live there must go to higher cost living places to shop and eat. HF used to be a great school and their athletic department was also top notch. They have such great families there. Sad they are in this sad of shape. Money doesn't grow on trees (well, I guess they don't have those either!), but paying your teachers state base isn't acceptable and will only lead to more trouble down the line. Bring back the HF I knew in HS.
You said, "HF used to be a great school."  >:( Sometimes I read dumb comments on here. Sometimes they are just plain stupid. I guess you get Houston news or something, but H-F is one of the top 3 in our region for academics.  Wealso win our district every year in UIL competition. Last time I checked, that is what I thought school was about?
I'm sure you intended to state this as UIL Non-Athletic Competition.  HF also plays UIL football, UIL boys and girls cross country, UIL volleyball, UIL boys and girls basketball, UIL softball, UIL baseball and UIL boys and girls track.  Quite a lot of UIL going on there, don't you think?  In my opinion, school is for learning - that's certain in the classroom and also applies to the out of classroom activities.  Lighten up, Francis.

Not yet, but I hope to hear from them soon. Caleb has received the (2) offers mentioned above. Schools who have shown the most interests thus far in no particular order are: La Tech, Uni. Louisiana-Monroe, Southern Louisiana, Sam Houston St., Houston Baptist, San Angelo, [glow=red,2,300]North TX.[/glow] He also had Jr. Day visits to UTSA, Uni. Louisiana-Lafayette, and Lamar. Thanks for asking, Team Malveaux.

And do you agree that Hardin Jefferson will win district and go 3 rounds deep in the play-offs in the 2013 season with these magical coaching changes?

Ol' Barry is recruiting!  He and Miss Tammy need the help.  They have a concerted, daily ritual of each of them smiting me.  Oh well, I never, ever won a most POPULAR award in my life.  I do, however, feel bad for his two athletic sons that have to live up to their crap.  ::) 8)

Coach Nelson knows exactly what he has coming back next year for Silsbee. What they have returning gives them a great chance of making it back to Austin.

Will be very surprised if he leaves. Coach Nelson is a Silsbee grad.
AAW, why, do you think, people from all over the area (even
move-ins from Alaska that relocated some 60 miles from
Silsbee) suddenly have such an interest in Silsbee's head
baseball coach?  And there are those that assess the PN-G
baseball talent for the 2014 season as maybe the best in the
area without knowing much about other teams' talent.  Ya'
gotta love it. ;D

Silsbee coach may have a new job next year.  ;)
Not happening.
I wouldn't be so sure.  That is a very attractive job.  There is pretty good talent coming back with this year's junior class and this year's freshman group is loaded.  A perennial winner with several good classes waiting in the wings.  I think a lot of very good coaches will be circling this job, including Silsbee's.

Of course you have the right to think and say anything you want.  Normally, a poster on this site at least DOES THINK
before he blows it out of his biggest bodily orifice.  Apparently not so in your case. ::) 8)

hope everybody got to see the best talent in the golden triangle today. West brook looks to be the Dominate team this year if that passing game ever shows up this could be be a good year in the playoffs. Hervey is lights out if you give him a seam! Defense looks much improved over last year they had there share of 3 and outs and stops on the goal line with some nice hits but once again its spring so we shall see in a few months! until then GO Bruins!!
Your finish with, "Until then GO Bruins!!"  That is probably the most accurate statement of your entire post.  Until then - which is the beginning of the REAL season.  Until then - you can live on that cloud.  Until then - you can envision Hervey (who is very, very good) running over, around and through every defense they play.  But THEN - the REAL play begins and I don't think West Brook will dominate much of anything this year.  They are at least a year away. ::) 8)
15.
That's because SILSBEE has know fear.. They are that good..!! They are #1 in state for a reason...Because they play ball as a team and do it well.. They put the ball on the bat..And there defence is strong... They are the best out of the last four teams and will bring the state trophy home to SILSBEE T.X.
Jeeeeez, Who!
"No fear" not "Know fear."
Is that your own poll that has Silsbee #1 in the state rankings - because they are not ranked as #1.
If you are putting the ball on the bat rather than putting the bat on the ball, you are getting your brains knocked out.
It's "Defense" not "Defence."
8 remaining teams, not 4 has been pointed out already.

Question - are you in this country legally? ::)
