  1. I would agree, not sure if Westwood has had the most difficult pre district schedule, while Diboll has, they have played Madisonville 5-0, Franklin, 5-0, and Kirbyville, 4-1. They have been tested. Diboll’s two losses are to Madisonville and Franklin, and not blow outs either. Diboll will be ready
  2. Diboll D did a relatively good job containing the Eagle QB, who is very shifty and good arm, major credit goes to the secondary for great coverage. Woodville QB couldn’t find an open WR most of the game, aside from Woodvilles first drive with long pass, Diboll secondary did a great job. Can’t forget about the Dline as well, they were able to get going in the 2nd half. westwood freshman qb Bryant will be the most dynamic QB Diboll will face thus far. Westwood offense seems explosive so will be a tough challenge for Diboll D.
  3. I’m sure Westwood was in the house tonight with their bye week this week… they are at Diboll on homecoming next Friday
  4. I think on Diboll’s part you can read into their game. They do tend to always play Franklin well, and is sometimes a measuring stick for them to see where they are as a team. They were able to keep in check the lions O, but still not enough to win. Diboll HC has a history of knowing how to run and defend Franklins style of offense. If you know how to run in, then you understand what weaknesses to exploit. Obviously no team has been able to do that AND play a complete game against the lions, I mean they have a win streak of 30+ plus games, that says it all . They’re just so good at it plus play well in all aspects of the game. Sure if you look at the Woodville - Franklin game you think this was very close because woodville was able to do certain things to keep it close but Franklin appears to have had uncharacteristic unforced turnovers that led to points by Woodville. That wasn’t the case versus Diboll. They played a pretty clean game aside from one fumble. this will be a close game but I’m giving the edge to Diboll due to their defense. Offense still trying to find their identity, getting the kids in the right position. They might not start really clicking until week 8, but when they do, watch out
  5. Can’t go against the Jacks, give me Diboll by 7
  6. You a former coach? I respect your insight on lot of topics
  7. Considered to be a top matchup in the district this week, the winner of this one will be in good position to vie for the district championship. This will be another close one like last season. If Diboll get some consistency going with offense, getting some key players involved, they should be in good shape. Their defense has been their strength up to this point. One common opponent in Franklin. this will be a good one
  8. Let’s keep the conversation going. These are this week’s results. Palestine Westwood 52 Palmer 44 PW was still questionable going into this game but this one raised some eyebrows. Their defense may be suspect so they may have to win by simply outscoring their opponents with what looks like a high powered offense no real surprises with the other scores Buna 24 Crockett 8 Orangefield 35 Shepherd 21 Liberty 17 Woodville 54 Diboll 13 Franklin 28 HF 30 Coldspring 8 Tarkington 37 Huntington 7
  9. With Franklin in Diboll this week, you have to play mistake free and disciplined, that’s just to keep the score respectable, but to have a chance at winning, Franklin needs to have a few mistakes, more than a few miscues, for the Jacks to have a chance. It would have to be an uncharacteristic night for them as that’s just not how they play. Diboll usually plays Franklin tough and put together a good game plan, as everyone said already, just hoping for a clean injury free game
  10. I still believe that Woodville, Diboll, and Coldspring will be battling it out for 1st. If I’m honest, Woodville is the team to beat. They looked really strong when I saw them in Diboll last season which Diboll won 21-14. Could have gone either way. I believe they returned a good bit. Of course you have Coldspring who beat Diboll last year but I still left more impressed with Woodville’s capabilities. Palestine Westwood still has to prove they can actually be competitive against a true solid team. They’ve had a couple weak opponents to start the season. I believe Palmer will be the first true test to see where PW is this year. The PW freshman QB will only get better and will be a fun one to watch. Does he have the supporting cast? They’ve been at the bottom of the district last couple of seasons With what Diboll lost from graduation, it’s a toss up to where they land this year. they’re not short of talent, just experience. They get Coldspring and PW at home so maybe home field advantage gives them an edge
  11. Madisonville skunked diboll last year 42-0, last night was definitely more competitive. Was a defensive match last night with neither team able to get much going on offense. I don’t think either team had over 200 yards total offense. as for Westwood will be interesting to see what they do this year , Diboll has had their way with them past few years I think DC will go to Diboll, Coldspring or Woodville. I’d have to give the edge to woodville, but I know Coldspring always plays Diboll tough, seems like that game is always in Coldspring
  12. Madisonville is no slouch they went 3 deep last year in 4a-D2 and returned a good bit this year. It’s game 1 and Diboll is known to start clicking at the right time. It’ll be a competitive district race no doubt, gotta have the jacks in the DC conversation though.
  13. They’re not the same team but I assure you they’re not fighting for 4th seed, they’re in the mix for the DC.
  14. Any word on Diboll jasper scrimmage? How do both teams look
  15. I’m looking forward to week 3, this series is still on the newer end with only 3 recent matchups that I’m aware of between Diboll vs Franklin, I think series is at 1-2 in favor Franklin. How much does Franklin bring back from last season?
  16. This one got a little ugly, but I’ve been to a ton of Diboll games and this one game is not an accurate representation of the entire town or fans.
  17. Buna did have a strong team this season. But Diboll also had several back from a state tournament team last season.
  18. Friday, November 18 at 7:00 pm Huffman-Hargrave HS If you want to see two of the top QBs in 3A then this is the one to go see. Both QBs have 2000+ passing yards with impressive completion %. Columbus sophomore QB, 6’4” Adam Schobel is the son of Columbus HC/AD, and former NFL tight end, Matt Schobel. Diboll’s secondary will be tested by the Columbus passing game. If Diboll wants to keep this one close, they’ll need to force some punts and keep the Columbus O off the field. Will be the toughest game since Franklin
  19. I agree, their record was very misleading having played close several .500 or above teams.
