  1. Central played 3 6A teams (Summer Creek, West Brook, and Memorial) in the pre-season.  Since they managed to survive as a 5A team, then I am inclined to believe they have gotten meaner and smarter.  Surely, they learned a few lessons that will help them battle with other 5A organizations!  They should be stronger and better equipped in the regular season.

Correct Speaker1. I was actually responding to a comment made by Raideroldtimer on page 3 when I made this remark. He said since Ozen beat Memorial, Memorial beat Central, and Lumberton beat Ozen, then Lumberton will also beat Central. But that's why I picked Central to win

  2. Let's see now, Ozen beat Memorial, Memorial beat Central,Lumberton beat Ozen and by virtue of the results against Memorial weeeeeellll; the Raiders will be picking Jaguar meat out of their teeth. The train stays on the track at least for another week. Now PNG really needs to be concentrating on mid-county madness the week of the 9th.

LOL! You can't use that reasoning in football. Very comical though might I say. If that was the case we wouldn't have had that GCM upset against an undefeated Nederland team last year right? Well it will definitely be a good, close one but I think Central takes it. And yes THIS GAME DOES HAVE PLAYOFF IMPLICATIONS!

  3. Very accurate and true statement.  But we did throw an interception to GCM in the trips formation to the 2 GCM DB's.

And the GCM fans were mad at the coach because of the run play called at the end.  I told them the same thing.  That run Olay worked the entire second half and consecutively.  Central made a good stop on 4th down...

that's true Central did throw a terrible interception to the #2 receiver because he was hours late on that pass. It was the same route as before and he was open. The QB could have done better as I think he only made one good pass (with that same trips play) on fourth down. And talk about controversial calls I think that "interception" hit the ground. But I'll take y'all word for it because it was on the other side of the field

  4. This was a great game even though the score kinda doesn't say it all. GCM did have a few more mental mistakes which might have been the turning point of the game. Way to fight up but when you can't score after halftime then you're not likely to win the game. Central made some defensive adjustments at the half with their outside linebackers I could see. That was an amazing 2pt conversion. You have a better argument saying his progress was stopped or that his wrist touched the ground but definitely not his knee. I keep forgetting #12 for Central's name but he is D-1 quality. And the reason why that GCM coach called the same play about 10 times in a row is because it couldn't be stopped. You have twin towers lined up at OT and TE on the right side bulldozing everybody and pick up 10 yards each carry. I was surprised Central didn't completely expose GCM lining up only two DBs against a trips formation all night. They did for a crucial 4th down though. Anywho let me stop coaching and congratulate these young men again in their efforts and I can't wait to see what Lumberton proves against Central on Saturday. I might be there for that one too!

  5. Are you saying that Ozen has more mental toughness than the Raiders?

I didn't say they had more mental toughness. I'm saying that after all the hype of winning in the offseason and homecoming halftime show etc. that the tired feeling will set in. That tempo will go away. The athletic talent which I believe Ozen has over Lumberton will prevail. Not taking anything away from those young Raider men, but they will lose.

  6. This is going to be a good first half.........but unfortunately Ozen wins this one. A win against Southern Lee is good for that program because student's spirits are high as well as the confidence. The same goes for the Raiders and their decent preseason victories, which is why this game will be different between halves. When that adrenaline settles and halftime show is over, that scoreboard will start to light up.

  7. This is definitely a must win for Central to get their confidence up. They had a very tough schedule facing three 6A teams, and I'll take your words on it that some key players will be back. That's why I have the Jags winning this game by ten. Goose Creek is going to be better than they were last year, and that's why I believe they'll be in the playoffs. And I will be in the building to watch this one because it'll be a good one!

  8. Last time Ozen beat Central was in 2012 I believe. But someone said it best, "It's like the two schools switch up dominance every few years". I know Ozen beat Central a couple years ago but lately it's been Central especially after the coaching changes. Now it just might be Ozen's turn again. Either way my assumption is that it will be a good game as always and the team with the least mistakes wins. I think that will be Ozen. But don't get too lax because Central has always had that speed and talent too. Sorry guys no poems this time. LOL!

  9. smh, 1pt loss makes a team suck? Well yall been sucking for 9 years previously then with that logic lol

If WB blows yall out and Memorial blows out Central then yes id say it was a fluke at that particular point. Lol :)

Hahaha! No pun intended, you took it the wrong way. I thought that Ozen's victory last week was a very credible one. Therefore, the Panthers should at least be expected to do just as well against another 6A team. But when you see predictions like 35-10 or 35-14 that just says Ozen either beat a bad Memorial team, or won by accident.
