  1. I was in 8th grade when Coach Randy started at Woodville...he delivered on of my favorite quotes in the weight room one day after people were complaining...he hollered out “It’s just mind over matter.  I don’t mind an you don’t matter.”  Him and Coach Reggie were each one of a kind and I’ll always have fond memories of both.  Condolences to the family.

  2. Played for Coach Reggie at Woodville and he was by far my favorite coach of any I came across.  An absolute man of integrity and faith and did his best to make sure each players under him carried themselves in the same way.  My favorite memory of him was playing in a JV game against Kelly and he gave me the steal sign.  I’ve never been accused of being fleet of foot so I looked over into our dugout to see if I saw it right.  Lots of confused looks so I knew I wasn’t going crazy.  I Was thrown out by a country mile for the 3rd out and Coach Reggie beat me back to the dugout to question what I was doing cause he’d never tell me to steal.  My teammates had to tell him that he did and he just started laughing and apologized.  Next AB I got on and he once again gave me the steal sign...only this time with eye contact and a subtle head nod.  I beat the tag at 2nd and as I’m dusting myself off I hear the PA man say “runner advances to 2nd on the wild pitch”.  I look over and Coach Reggie is on the ground laughing.

Why do you have to stick with the original call of foul if it was ABSOLUTELY, 100% the wrong call??? That's about the most ridiculous thing I've read on the internet in the past 5 minutes.  Question for the umpires on the board from a mechanics standpoint, but is fair or foul the home plate umpires responsibility until it gets to the bag, and the base umpires call past the bag?  Brutal ending

Part 1 - Because a fair call is not verbally announced vs a foul call is verbally announced, players are to assume a ball is fair until they hear a foul call.  Once an umpire yells foul it kills the play.  Comparison in football would be a player running down the sideline and ruled to step out of bounds but he actually doesn’t.  Once the whistle is blown or in this case foul is called you can’t assume what would happen after that.

Part 2 - My understanding (and I’m not a TASO umpire) is that in a typical HS game where there are 2 umpire, the home plate ump has fair foul down the line with the exception being when no runners are on and the field ump has from the back of the back to the fence down the RF line.  Now with this being a 4 man crew I don’t know if there is any change to that.  I have seen MLB field umpires make that fair/foul ruling over the base.

The all-knowing Klein (Hail Klein!) came out predicting that NISD is going to throw up a new admin building that wasn't included in the bond proposal.  Can we revisit the subject when they break ground on the new admin building, or the construction phase is wrapped up (without the admin building)?

It'll be fun to see what actually happens.

He also said said the bond would get shot down 60/40 or even 70/30...see how accurate he was on that one...

  5. Again this is all just a preliminary idea of what they could/would want to do.  I agree that an expanded visitor side is only going to come into play once every 2 years at MCM.  Typically other visiting schools (except maybe Vidor on occasion) don’t even fill up the main section at midfield.

They will be modifying seating to be ADA compliant  (wheelchair and limited mobility access).   I am not sure if they will be adding additional seating or not,  one of the Mosleys might be able to answer that better than I can.

It had been mentioned in one of the community meetings that they wanted to add some additional seating so they didn’t lose any seating capacity...I don’t think the plan is to increase capacity just to replace what’s lost.  What will be interesting is how season tickets are handled for those that will lose their seat to an ADA mod.

That is why I asked if it happening, because it is indeed illegal.  Nederland ISD personnel in their official capacities, are not allowed to advocate pro or con regarding the bond issue.  Now, teachers in their off time, can engage in debate.  But a school district paying for the printing signs such as placards, yard signs, etc. to be distributed does cross that legal line.

I believe what he is referring to is the signs put at each school and football stadium that details what is proposed at each location.  These signs do not advocate for or against the bond and are informational only.

The pro-bond folks must be in full panic mode.  I have heard that they have been stealing anti-bond signs.  Now I know for a fact they are.  A couple i have seen around the city are "no longer" there.   I think the "disappeared" yesterday.  The pressure is building!  Love it!

I guess the “no” crowd was in full panic mode when “yes” signs were being stolen before “no” signs were even ordered...

If your superstar can’t crack the lineup at super power 6A Allen, you move to a P.O. Box in Southlake. If he can’t get on the field for 6A Carroll High, you move west to 5A D2 Aledo. And if your superstar is filthy rich you buy a million dollar mailbox in 5A D1 Highland Park (always the largest school in 5A, but ironically never over the 6A line...hmmmm).

Well the UIL has to find a cut-off point somewhere lol

I just read through this entire thread and couldn't find not one PNG fan complaining about how much Faircloth runs RJ.  Maybe I missed them somewhere in those 11 pages.  Or maybe BF knows what he's doing with that absolute beast in the backfield after all. You be the judge.   But seriously, how many carries did RJ have tonight?  Sounded like a great game between class act programs leading into the playoffs. Both teams will represent SETX well. Good luck to both teams.

Kinda funny how people called for BF’s head when he ran RJ so much last year...according to the PA News he has 1 more carry last night than last year.

But in all reality, Bulldog fans are glad to not have to see that guy anymore (unless there is a 4th round rematch).  Guy absolutely took our lunch money the last three years and did what he wanted.  As difficult as it was to watch him gash Nederland play after play and year after year, it was actually kind of an honor to see him play.  Not everyone gets to see that kind of talent at the HS level.  Texas will be in good hands the next 4-5 years but until then, best of luck in the playoffs.

By my count of the PA News stats his career rushing totals came out to be 99 carries for 787 yards and 16 TDs...that’s 33 carries for 262 yards and 5.3 TDs per game...

I think that had more to do with Nederland than Santa Fe.

I was watching the clock and there was like one second difference between the game clock in the play clock. The Santa Fe players were just standing around like they were not going to huddle and either let the time go out or snap the ball at one second and kneel it.

Nederland saw the clock running and Santa Fe in no hurry to punt so Nederland called the timeout.  I am just guessing that since Nederland had already blocked a punt for a touchdown, they were trying to get another turnover. Then Santa Fe went for it at the benefit of the Nederland TO and got the first down. They were then able to throw it in the end zone for a possible touchdown on the last play of the half. It was incomplete but Nederland was flagged and gave them another shot at it.

Nederland gambled on the TO and almost lost the bet. Santa Fe took advantage of the Nederland TO and tried to punch it in.

Or at  least that is what it look like to me.

To me it started before that though.  When Santa Fe was around midfield they let the play clock run down before calling a TO with about 50 seconds left...there were a good 20 seconds that rolled off with the players just looking at the sideline.  Then on the final play they dumped it off underneath needing about 30 yards.  Don’t see why you don’t take a shot at the endzone there and you had just done it in the play before.

  12. By the PA News stats, in 2 games against Nederland RJ has 64 carries 529 yards and 9 TDs.  Nederland fandom aside the kid has been a pleasure to watch.  He’s a once in a generational talent so I’m glad I’ve gotten to witness him. We’ll see if next year if we see more of his passing game.  There was more this year but mostly dink and dunk.  However, when you look out on the field and your QB is the only player who’s jersey isn’t white anymore you might have a problem.  Even though he is going to Texas, I hope this kid can still reach his potential in spite of BF who still has one more year with RJ...
