  1. A little bit of a shocker for district 24-4a so far:

Pearland Dawson beat Santa Fe 7-5 at Dawson.  Most had Santa Fe picked for a district title.  I know its only one game in but interesting.

Galveston Ball also beat Lee 4-0 last night in Galveston.  Their Pitcher (simon) threw a complete game shutout.

GCM & Texas City is scheduled as of right now to play at 7pm at GCM if they can get their field ready.

Fwood and GP have already rescheduled their game to Monday.

  2. Hot bat leads Goose Creek Memorial Patriots Varsity past Crosby 12-10

An impressive effort by Dennis Cooper led Goose Creek Memorial Patriots Varsity to a 12-10 win in seven innings over Crosby on Monday at Crosby.

Dennis racked up seven RBIs on three hits for Goose Creek Memorial Patriots Varsity. He doubled in the third inning and homered in the first and fourth innings.

Both squads had things going at the plate, tallying 22 runs and 20 hits, including 10 extra base hits.

The teams traded runs for most of the contest, leading to five lead changes in the game.

Shannon Broussard recorded the win for Goose Creek Memorial Patriots Varsity even though he allowed five runs over 2 1/3 innings. He struck out none, walked three and surrendered three hits.

Goose Creek Memorial Patriots Varsity closer Mario Moralez put away the final 11 outs to record the save.

In the top of the first, Goose Creek Memorial Patriots Varsity grabbed the early lead, 2-0. Theron Stockwell doubled to ignite Goose Creek Memorial Patriots Varsity's offense, before Dennis homered, scoring Theron.

Crosby answered Goose Creek Memorial Patriots Varsity's top inning with four runs of its own in the first. Crosby scored on a walk by Richard Martinez, an RBI single by Chase Stripling, a fielder's choice, and a steal of home by Richard.

The game was never in doubt after the fourth, as Goose Creek Memorial Patriots Varsity scored five runs on an error and a home run by Dennis.

  3. it was ok, nothing to special.  it was kinda hard to get a feel or tell because basically innings were rolling over when the pitcher got to around 15 pitches.  A couple innings there were only 2 to 3 batters.  Both teams look like that have a shot to do good things.  i think both will have to be fundamentally sound and be able to manufacture runs.  Good luck to both teams.

With seeing some of the LCM and Goose Creek scrimmage. I would have to lean towards Lumberton winning the game or it will be close game.

Chris, I was just wondering what you saw.  I'm not saying right or wrong but I wonder what you saw that is making you so confident.
  5. I think good things were done by both sides.

On the GCM side:  I was glad to see our new players have some success.  We had young or players at a ton of positions and they actually looked ahead of where I thought they would be.  I think the coaches had done a good job getting them ready so far.  The other thing I liked was the defense was flying around with some attitude.  There was more of a "team" atmosphere.

Again I just hope to continue to see progress at the next scrimmage.  Go PATRIOTS!
  6. Goose Creek Memorial Patriots Varsity rolled over Pearland Dawson 11-1 on Tuesday at Pearland Dawson after a six-run rally in the sixth inning.

Jose Silva racked up two RBIs on two hits for Goose Creek Memorial Patriots Varsity. He doubled in the fourth inning and singled in the sixth inning.

Dennis Cooper worked out of four tricky spots for Goose Creek Memorial Patriots Varsity. He pitched six innings and allowed no earned runs on four hits. Cooper faced his trickiest spot in the fourth inning.

Goose Creek Memorial Patriots Varsity jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the second.

Goose Creek Memorial Patriots Varsity stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the fourth, scoring two runs on a two-run double by Silva.

Goose Creek Memorial Patriots Varsity tacked on another two runs in the fifth. Brigham Rushing started the inning with a double, scoring Malik Michel. That was followed up by Coby Schumaker's single, plating Rushing.
  7. Playoffs, Playoffs, we're talking about Playoffs.

With 5 games left how is looking for the rest of yall out there. In District 24-4a it is all about wrapped up that it will be Fwood, GBall, Santa Fe and GCM.  Now who will be in what spot depends on how bad the boys want it.  GCM is 8-1 with other 3 tied at 7-2.  Looking at 23-4a Richmond Foster and George Ranch are the best two.  Since we are removed from our brothers to the east, i was just wondering how 19-4a and 20-4a were fighting it out.
